  1. I don't know if the thread is disgraceful but it sure adds to the confusion. I once thought that Dennis' agent was the guy who caused the problem by turning up either late or not at all at the appointed place on the appointed day. That was before Scotty set me right and blamed the club, not Dennis. Now I am not sure what you are saying but it seems to be the opposite---of what? Scotty--time for you to step in here and comment on what the facts are specifically for the record and who, in your opinion, is in fact the guilty party? For me a brief comment will suffice.
  2. Thinks...you were Marty Wares weren't you Stevico1? :001: Or "the Squirrell"? Remember Marty, IHE" Talk about a running fight. Highly-entertaining though on both fronts. And I am sticking mit der Scarlet (with one "T") 'cos I like him.Come what may, through thick and thin--so onwards and upwards, Scar.
  3. Stevico1 I did not say that you were not entitled to your opinion just because you have only posted five times. That would be ridiculous and obviously in this context you do not know or understand Scarlet (with one "T" please) very well either. What I was inferring is that if you want to attack another poster personally, instead of passing your opinion on events, at least show how smart you are by getting to know him well first. And if you have been on this forum for much longer what was your former user name and why did you give it up in favour of another name? Nothing to hide or be afraid of have you? :014:
  4. Charles--thank you for reminding me of the progeny thing--the thought had never crossed my mind....... until you mentioned it. As for the rest of your comments--accurate and trenchant as ever. But why did you stop so soon when you were ahead? And Canada Bob- you are being being very nice ! :011: Who in Canada knows anything about British history or the Royal Family? Most of them do not even know their own history and the only reason they have congregated en masse to see the Royal Family when they grace us over here with their presence is , as you say, to experience a bit of "by association" .In some way Canadians fulfil some inner dream of being rich and famous by gawking--harmless enough, but also somewhat meaningless. And I just love the salacious gossip daringly put about by one of the above posters stating that up until recently Her Royal Gracious Highnessness had not paid any taxes, but in recent years had grudgingly agreed to pay a pittance to placate a growing public opinion in the U.K. that they were insufferable parasites. If the Taxman decides to go back and charge her for unpaid taxes plus interest she will have to sell off half her properties and lands just to pay the bill--and where should he stop ...in 1066? It's a pity the same unctuous grovelling deference, and forgiveness for the requirement to pay back taxes, paid to these Icons of Self-Indulgent Selfishness is not extended to the rest of the common people isn't it? Imagine the wealthiest woman in Britain getting an annual humungous stipend, along with half her family, from the poor British taxpayers , so that thay can eke out their fortunes to allow them to improve the contents of their liquor cabinets from Ballantynes to 100 year-old Special Blend Chivas Regal or to enable her to get a better quality of hay for her multitudinous stable of horses? And please don't make the gross mistake of thinking that my above comments is just a case of withering sarcasm--it's not withering at all, more like in full flood and increasing by the minute. :004: And all Ex Patriot British pensioners still alive in Canada are still not getting an annual inflationary increase in their pensions , NEVER have and under current British Government dictates NEVER will. Soon, very soon, the poor old folks will have to give up their fags in favour of a crust of bread... :029:By the way that was not meant to be hunmourous. Still, they are wistfully hoping that the rumour abroad at present that Their Royal Magnificent Highnesses are about to generously send them a couple of quid each for past services rendered to the glorious Empire is the only hope to which they can cling in so far as the fact that it will allow them to put a blob of charcoal on their little fire at least once more before they die. The Royal Farces are a blemish in history whose time has come for erasure...along with more than half the idle fox-hunting brigades of useless dinks. Time to quit whilst I am ahead methinks. :012: All comments gratefully invited ..
  5. The most outstanding character manager in the SPL at present. It 's like opening the floodgates when asked a question by the BBC commentator. Not like some who say,e.g. "er we were in the ascendancy in the first half and should have won. " or "We wuz robbed, it was a lucky bounce etc" He pours his honest heart out and calls it exactly as he sees it. Rarely says a bad word against the other team but roundly criticises his own players when he "hinks" it is merited. Down to earth, voluble, honest and passionate about his football and team. Gotta love him.... With him in charge you can rest assured that the entertainment value would go up and the crowds would also rise I "hink". Go John go. :022:
  6. IHE--3930 posts. Stevico1--5 posts. Stevico--do you think it is time for you to think before you speak or is the expression of your opinion on IHE too important to miss? :023:
  7. Johndo--your juxtaposition was just right. :clapping03:
  8. I feel a bit sorry for Marius Niculae. From all accounts he has really been trying of late and he seems to be playing with poor partners or tactics and maybe he should be playing with a better quality team. But who would be interested in him in the SPL?Any dreams that the ICT Board may have of getting a half million pounds for Marius must be fading fast. Robbo--cannot go back, bad move. The only significant track record that he seems to have is at ICT. His confidence must also be low. Other than that Brewster will not be fired--he may resign with a hefty wallet in his jeans but the Board will not admit they may have made a mistake. Another Pimple Prognostication and I feel that IHE is about to speak. :016: ......?
  9. Buckett--you are still alive.... Wheeeeee! :001:
  10. Basically the Royal family is in being because their forbears murdered, pillaged and grabbed as much land as possible. Their privileged state exists only because of that. Wealth means power and significance . Power means retention of that power by any means possible including all of the above. Wars are fought for land and power, rarely anything else. The Royal family come from Germanic stock. So did the Duke Cumberland, a relative of the King--and , boy, after Culloden did he ever make sure that no Highland uprising would EVER again threaten the Hanoverian throne, their wealth and their power. And from that inevitably came the Highland Clearances initiated to foster the financial interests of the English Landlords which, for unabashed viciousness and cruelty, is a horror story carefully concealed with the ardent participation of the Media at the time well paid to report only the official line to the majority. But reading deeply uncovers a harrowing tale of burnings (even of people in their very own beds), murder, dispossesions and theft , starvation and despotic evictions into the freezing night and snow even of people so old (over 90) and sick and diseased and bed-ridden that their cries could be heard as they were dragged off to the sea until their screams of pain died away to either a whimper or a death rattle . Not to mention the younger women who in a group stood up to the factors who came at them with clubs and battered them senseless, ripping their faces to shreds and their breasts too and leaving them all at the side of the road or in the ditch with broken arms , legs and other injuries too indelicate to mention. Make no mistake, any threat at all to the Landlords' plans was met with merciless brutality. Never mind "Weep for me Argentina", think of the peasants of the past used and abused by their masters who were little more than slaves. The Clan system where the clansmen formed a group in which the Clan Chief gave them a lease( often unwritten) of a small parcel of land enough to keep body and soul together but never big enough or of a quality high enough to make them rich and independent whilst at the same time ensuring that he got his tithes first and, if he did not , evicted them summarily. For those lucky enough to prosper the result of their success was often the making of them as factors, more closely under the Chief's thumb than ever, and invested with powers over the poorer folk which were often used as a more cruel extension of the chief's power but for which he rarely took the blame when things went wrong. In response for allowing the peasants to survive the Chief expected his "clansmen " to blindly fight for him against any invading other clans or to fight in support of which ever flavour-of-the-month cause that he decided to embark upon.e.g. Bonnie Prince Charlie --to their ultimate death and ruin. So where was the fine English-based Duke of Sutherland when his factors and others enacted the Highland Clearances . Nowhere to be seen to help his peasants whilst his wife spent obscene gobs of money taken from these same peasants in the elegant shops and salons of Edinburgh? Whether that was 100 years ago or 15 centuries ago it is an uncontestable fact. In the process they had scant regard for the "common folk"who they used as "cannon fodder" to further their ambitions and wealth and power. This was done more often than not under the noble guise of "for freedom" or "for King and Country" whatever that meant?. History is full of bloody battles and countless deaths, often gruesome, among the rank and file but few bloody deaths of the aristocratic classes in proportion. Even if the American Civil war was fought for alleged rights of freedom for the Southerners the battle of Gettysburg alone produced death and destruction on an unprecedeneted scale amongst the common soldiers...50,000 deaths. Did General Lee die? ..no. Did Sherman die ?...no. Did Lincoln die?..no. Did the President of the Southern States die? no. But 500,000 common folk mostly did die in the that war which was the highest number of deaths in any war ever fought up to that time. Bu it still was about power and money. Did Cumberland die at Culloden?..no. Did Wellington die at Waterloo? no. The Queen of England once passed the end of my road in Inverness in her swanky limousine when I was very young but my decision at the time was not to walk 200 yards down the road to see her drive along Telford Street. This decision was the correct one for me and so it will come as no surprise that I share Canada Bob's accurate and intelligent overview why basically they are ,and always have been, in general terms an affront to society and parasites at best. Not to mention the fact that whilst they wallow in the lap of luxury all ex- pat British Pensioners living in an Ex -Commonwealth country, many of whom fought in the past for King and Country , have never had their pensions uprated by the British Government EVER and are living on 5 pounds a week...................... :cry04:
  11. Robbo--no. Yogi--yes. Passionate, experienced footballer but he would need a big incentive to leave Falkirk.
  12. Confidence shot. Spirit shot. Brew trying to be honest in his interviews and saying virtually nothing that makes anything easier or makes sense. BBC--" When the second Killie goal went in the Caley heads went down".. Holy Moly should the players' not have got angry and the attached bodies more energetic instead? From afar it seems as if the ship is rudderless, the masts are in shreds, so are the sails and the crew are directionless such that the shipis fast approaching the speedy rapids. No pun intended. My heart is in my mouth every Saturday. This must be a very depressed club at this time. I am quitting whilst I am ahead. Least said, soonest mended I fear. One thing is certain if Mr Craig Brewster is asked to leave or quits I think his Managerial career is over. And that must also be weighing heavily on the minds of Management. But what about the club? Who is going to come to ICT now? Oh jeez, I was going to quit...... :029: Glad I am not a fly on the wall of the Boardroom--I would be even more depressed probably.
  13. I say, chaps, if old Scarlet can make it to Tulloch in the fall will you allow him into Section G. ? Sounds like a jolly jape! :016:
  14. Birdog--many a word spoken in jest......... :023:
  15. Brewster's actions sound like some kind of get- off- the -hook story. It looks as if he is saying that because Dennis had a poor game the day after he was supposed to sign his contract that gave Brewster the reason or right to suspend the deal. To put it crudely that is a load of absolute baloney. 1. One poor game does not entitle the player to be treated this way unless , as I think was the case, you were looking for an excuse to walk away from the deal. No player is perfect. 2. A deal is a fecking deal Brewster--and if you break it on a spurious excuse then you are not a man to be trusted and your word is not worth much. It's not like the world is heavily populated with people of great character but that does not give you the excuse to act in this way and you are the one under the spotlight, nobody else, in this situation. In a public Management position such as yours if you don't keep your word you can do yourself a lot of harm. People can forgive a man for not having the ability to Manage but dishonouring an Agreement is a different matter, especiually a petty reason. And a deal does not have to be in writing to be a deal. This is very poor form Mr Brewster. No wonder Dennis is disillusioned.I don't blame him for wanting to get out as soon as possible. 3. Now you have publicly demonstrated that your word is not to be trusted how do you expect to have the faith and trust of the other players? To be blunt, it may not happen tomorrow, but I feel that your days at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium are now numbered. You are done and dusted and frankly I am sad about it because I am all for giving a guy a fair shake. :finger02:
  16. In view of what you say, Scotty, which puts a new complexion on it, it looks like I should have taken the time to read the whole thread and got hold of the wrong end of the stick. So my apologies for that. Dennis is right to be aggrieved and I understand your anger. :cry04:
  17. I' m positively wipig the tears.....
  18. What an amusing thought--a very highly paid player being rested the club paying his wages who themselves are close to a desperate situation in so far as the slide down the table could get worse by the minute in order to allow him to be fit for an International (friendly?)match in a far away land.? Heh! The man who pays the piper calls the tune and frankly, this is a no-brainer. :029: #@###@@#&*(#++!@25437568 !!!!!
  19. And I think that Mann is the Mann for the Job but I am seriously wondering if Craig Brewster is I regret to say. Nothing against his footballing record, wonderful performer, but he really is an inexperienced Manager and does he have the capacity to be a tremendous inspirational leader in the relative short term or......ever? I am not going to touch that one with a long pole because........I am only a Pimple and if you want to squeeze me you can only find me on the Yellowhead Highway in Northern Canada. :016: :cdn:
  20. Mr Mileson's financial input into Gretna appears to have come to a grinding halt and this despite his undoubted love for the club etc. He certainly put in a huge share and did his bit but a lost cause can not be supported indefinitely. The point? Simply that where a project is bleeding money and always the hands are out pleading for large handouts to keep it afloat even the most loving patron cannot be expected to put up with this situation forever.Patience wears thin and rarely is a businessman so philanthropic and rich (unless you are Bill Gates) as to view this situation as normal and sustainable. The word used by Mr Sutherland in Charles' commentary is "sustainability" and I predict that , within one to two years only, he will withdraw his financial help unless the club bucks up and starts to do very well--which, at the moment, seems a long shot at best. Scary stuff. :007: :024:
  21. If Dennis was offered a contract then ICT must have thought what he had done prior to this as meriting one. If he was offered terms up to a certain date and Dennis did not sign, regardless whether his agent fell down on the job and failed to produce the document on time, it is unlikely that Dennis has any legal recourse. The courts cannot take into account the stupidity of agents who do not regard the importance of getting the contract to the player on time as a professional imperative. Wyness should fire an agent who allows that to happen--what about faxes or email ;does the agent not have a computer? The whole thing is like watching Fred Karno's army. We simply don't appear to know why, in such a circumstance, ICT did not agree to hold the signing over for a couple of days--maybe it was a blessing in disguise for them because maybe they felt that Dennis should and could have signed before the deadline and were exasperated by things he had said or delaying tactics he may have used or ...this...or that.. and both sides of the story must be heard before a verdict on the affair can fairly be reached. But it sure looks like they were a bit fed up with him for whatever reason (agent playing too many games perhaps?)and decided that enough is enough and bring out the hardball . Bit of a farce all round..... :018:
  22. The scores thing is interesting but the last time I got involved with Footy Live or Live Footy I found that nothing worked. Better be careful about getting involved here. :029: But thanks Birdog for trying to help. Usually I find a way to see what is going on by teletext or access the matchday thread on this site which is far more interesting . :002:
  23. Holy smokes, the techie wizards have all come out of the closet at once. :003: Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I am sure that it will all make sense to me once I mull it all over.I am going to right click it & print the page out for future reference the noo. Scotty you did indeed talk about Ghost in the not too distant past. Seems like a neat but rather large programme . Quite expensive too but in the larger scheme of things probably not. I use a computer strictly for research, history information searches, email, buying cinema tickets etc, etc but by no means am I techically advanced in the whys and the wherefores of advanced electronics. My problem is often that I see too many options so that I ask too many questions and rarely get all of them answered at once and by the time I really see the road ahead clearly I am exhausted by the effort of trying to master too many things at once. Mostly I hope to have some stuff stick and gradually build on that. Truthfully though I DO find all the advice really helpful, if challenging . And it gives me the rare opportunity of a wee wind up of Manfer which is fantastic when he bites at the worm.. :cdn: The only other alternative is for Scotty to get away from it all , the six foot drifts, tornados et al and drop by my wee house for a week's free R & R in the rain soaked West Coast and fix up my computer whilst I retire to the sofa wid the pipe and slippers and a big smile on my face. Look--he's weakening !! :001:
  24. And we are reliably informed that IHE will drop a thin veil every week until week 7 when it will be all done and dusted anyway! :015:
  25. Well just relax because I have a think tae masel that with water always finding it's own level the situation will sort itself out sooner rather than later and I don't want to alarm youse but I am not too positive about the eventual outcome based on current attitudes and events. Maybe a drop for a season would be a good thing since lower wages would sort out the ones who really wanted to play for the team and a return to the SPL would allow ICT to AGAIN set a limit to the wages that thay could afford to pay and AGAIN bring parity to all. Which, in all conscience, would not be a bad thing since the current excesses do not appear to have got the desired results or balance or happiness amongst anyone. Water will find it's own level.... :023:
