  1. Scotty If the team keeps this up do you think that the BBC will relent and allow all four of us here in Canadaland to get to listen too? :016:
  2. Caley D --you had a real life before Caley Thistle.? You are Baaadd! :015: You are going to keep "driving" the point home and "drive" us into a confused state? :021: Just kidding CD....................... :012:
  3. Sounds like there was a right stramash in the stand but Gringo Jnr handled his words so carefully that I was left bemused and confused--same old, same old, poor old Pimple --what on earth did happen ? Gringo Jnr did a very good report, quite professional and descriptive--he is my MOM. LOL :002:
  4. If the boy was a constant repeat offender maybe there would be some justification , but otherwise a lifetme ban is completely idiotic for a young boy. Thousands of pounds fines for a wee boy running around in a fit of eupohrioa ??? Are you serious? Talk about using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Common sense must prevail here. :018:
  5. Well , (Canajins may always say "eh" after a comment but SP starts off by saying "well") I have really enjoyed reading every match report on the internet and from the News links on here. It's a very nice feeling to get a well-deserved win at last and in such a spectacular fashion. nAhhh --like a smoothy glass of wine.. :003: Some of the comments on this thread are fascinating. Cowie turning out so well, McGuire somewhat volatile, being mouthie and all ,but appears to be filling a gap nicely, Tokely taking the initiative and spreading panic with his surging runs into enemy territory, Blackie also came on to a game and controlling his temper well and of course no need to say anything about Brew--same old, same old, if anything at all. Niculae is now fitting/settling in (?) but since he was hired as a striker and hitherto has not struck much of anything what a novel idea to play him back a bit in midfield with the capability of spraying pinpoint passes to the likes of Dennis and Brew or even Cowie if he can get up.Barry playing hard but I am just a wee bit uncertain as to what Morgan is supposed to be achieving and where exactly he is playing--the commentary today from the BBC hardly seemed to mention his presence let alone his impact. And Fraser acquitting himself well and getting lots of experience whilst his predecessor Mark Brown sits on the sidelines with a big paypacket but relatively anonymous due to his inactivity which cannot be very inspiring for him I am sure. In short this is a very encouraging thread ---and juncture (or turning point as Brew says on ther BBC interview) ---so hopefully the climb will now start and with a few good wins under our belt the panic button can once again be put back into the cupboard since surely no future year can start so badly as this one. Oh I really must thank the BBC too on this thread (tongue in cheek though) for actually broadcasting a commentary from Tulloch Caledonian stadium despite the fact that their Sportsound site did not even have the customary link to the broadcast which I fanally found under the words SPL. sigh! :029: Charles can't you finally sort out the Beeb for us poor overseas fellas? :016:
  6. Whatever . Let's hope our very own Romanian corkscrews in a few against the Hearts. :011:
  7. Mee--are you referring to what once was the mental hospital up past the Leachkin? My uncle was resident there once................. :023:
  8. Oh that is nice--I was in the middle of replying to your post and the complete site simply disappeared. :33: Anyway, I understand your predicament and agree your way is prudent. ICT should allow some form of streaming to overseas listeners and I would subscribe, preferably to ICT so that they could get the revenue, if it was made available. What the powers that be seem to not comprehend is that not only people like me would find it and access it since there are so many European fans in Vancouver and Toronto that are starved of soccer that they would be interested as well I am sure. When I get a moment I am going to write to the ICT Board about this. We can't get video and we can't get audio now for virtually any matches and frankly I am fed up and dispirited about it. :009:
  9. The spell checker has good reviews--go to www.iespell.com and check it out. It offers several dictionaries as the default. Current default is Merriams. I like it for the right click feature and the fact that it scans all the text at once. SP :011:
  10. My goodness, are we now featuring Ian Black's wee 15 year-old brother in his wee semmet? And I have found a new free spellchecker that works a treat on emails, blogs and forums-- it came up dutifully with "semmet". LOL. All you do is install, right click & :clapping select from menu as to option (e.g .spell check) and click. :clapping03:
  11. And she could take the young lads under her wing -like penguins with their eggs under their pouches, :003: in the Arctic. Making sure they turn out O.K and not turning into vandals, druggies etc. :016:
  12. Persinally speeking I always thought that spellnig was spelt spelling. But Gringo Jnr that was a wonderful post but you must be a little sad since hardly a soul wanted to touch it with a bargepole. What scares us about the truth ? The fact that we can't or won't try to do something about it ? Don't think that the degeneration of the current generations in all things of common sense is confined to theU.K. It is here in all it's glory in Canada as well. Graffiti, vandalism, lack of respect for authority, theft (especially cars) and so on ad infinitum--frankly I think we should be very concerned. Back with the tawse in schools? That'a pipedream I must say - Our justice sytem is very imperfect with the jails overcrowded and the judges being very lenient to cut the costs of jailing too many people.Only guys like serial killer Willie Pickton down the road from me here in Maple Ridge will stay in jail for a very long time--the rest get out in about half the time or some well-placed people are even sent to a minimum security prison with a golf course nearby. Unbelievable. Homeless people here in this area is a big problem with drugs topping the list also. Being a Port city we can hardly avoid drugs of course but it costs the Government millions per year in cosmetic tinkering costs . In the old days the cops took the miscreants up a close and gave them what-for and that was the end of it. Nowadays if they do that thay lose their jobs or get demoted if the ne'er -do -well complains to the human rights. :029:
  13. far too early to tell--or compare. Give Brewster a break--right now it is all hands to the piumps. One for all and all s.p:008:
  14. He is now reported to be asking why his Manager has not, or is not, playing him? Sounds intriguing. :011:
  15. Caley D--what exactly do you mean by the words "not a media partner"? If we find the offering of one of the "media partners" is not worth watching are we not allowed to say their name either? Sorry, I just don't understand this. If they are as bad as I have experienced why would anyone want them to be a media partner and therefore if using their name to warn others of their activities is not a good thing then what is the point of this thread? In addition, since the name of livefooty.com appears to have disappeared off the raider completely ,which is a good thing, what objection do you have to showing that name? :024:
  16. Well, where do I start? Scotty has given you all an in-depth look at his hunting ground in the East--Ontario --which I really know little about. This Province has major political influence due to it's size and the no. of Federal parliamentary seats it yield. A similar situation pertains to Quebec , a Province where French and English is spoken, althoght outside the cities I undertsand that french is the spokern language. I have always wanted to visit Montreal and if you ever get a chance to see The Cirque de Soleil do NOT miss it. A spectacular , glittering circus of artistry and breathtaking stunts second to none. You have to hand it to the French --they are warm, artistic to a fault and very interesting people and places. The Cirque has several touring companies --in Britain ?...I don't know. When out hiking one weekend with a social club many years ago we were down in the US and this nice French girl from Quebec turned to me as we were walking up this old village road with the group and said to me that we should have had an affaire by now.. I was slow in these days so we never did have an affaire but she and her new Austrian husband did downhill ski a lot and she was as fast on the hill as in the romance department as well. Boy we did have some fun "on the hill". Canada Bob's knowledge of this vast country (3000 miles from East Coast to West coast) is stunning so I will confine my comments to the West. Saskatchewan is a Prairie Province and the breadbasket of Canada --wheat forever, very cold in the Winter and stifling hot in the Summer with Mosquitos galore. Not my cuppa tea but you can get a big house there for a fraction of the cost of a similar residence in Vancouver. Alberta is the oil province with the massive Tar Sands project about to produce incredible buckets of oil and money This spectacularly wealthy Province has already paid off all their Federal debt . Jobs are going abegging and pay a fortune if you are interested.Waitresses start at $25 an hour ( about 12 pounds )plus tips. Not good for a lingering holiday I would say, though. So, to Vancouver, a very cosmopolitan city-where do I start? Take a float plane on a very short journey from Vancouver harbour to Vancouver Island(about 1000 miles from tip to tip--this is not a small piece of land despite what it seems on the map)and just exist and drink it all in. Whale watching, walrus and sealions watching are all awesome activities.Or take the same float plane and fly North rising up the side of sheer cliffs to land on a glacial lake set in a bowl in a forest of pine, camp in the cabin overnight and then hike back down the mountain the next day. That will tire you out and no mistake! Wow!. To the North spectacular scenery , very high mountains (sorry, Vancouver is nothing like Inverness except for the fact that Vancouver is surrounded by the Pacific ocean to the West and Mountains to the North and South), incredible fishing, surfing, hiking trails galore with views so breathtaking that it will stun you. Cross country ski in the Winter until you drop or downhill ski on the local mountains also till you drop. You can cruise (fast downhill runs ) or just ski with the fancy turns in deep powder which is a sensational feeling once you get used to leaning back on the skis and NOT forward which is the opposite posture to downhill skiing. And you can also come to Maple Ridge where I stay some 50 K. to the East of Vancouver and get a horse to ride around on from the many stables situated here. Or you can go a short distance from here to a dude ranch for riding lessons. Vancouver itself has adequate transport, the Skytrain (elevated fast track) to whisk you all over the area and into the downtown where you can shop or enjoy a lazy day sitting outside a cafe looking across the inlet to the high mountains and watching the float planes fly in and out . Victoria, the Capital of the Province of British Columbia, is indeed classed as a very English city with the magnificent Provincial Legislature parliamentary buildings themselves being a major attraction. The wood panelling inside is awesome. The journey up Howe Sound from Vancouver , across the high spectacular Lions Gate Bridge over Burrard Inlet, which leads into the British Properties once owned by the Irish Guinness family and being the most expensive Real Estate in Canada, then up the Sea to Sky Highway along a route winding along the coast of the Pacific Ocean with quite stunning views of the ocean until it turns inland and onwards to the massive Whistler, Blackcomb skiing resorts. This is where the Winter sports will be held in 2012 and you will probably see plenty of this area on the T.V. at that time. Our summers are short from June to September with the rainy season starting in October and then this rain, which can be torrential, stubbornly persists until very late Spring, when the snowpack up country in the mountains starts to melt and the rivers stsrt running in torrents. The Fraser river which runs through Vancouver and suburbs was within inches of flooding round here this Spring and everyone was panicking. But we got lucky and it stopped rising one day from flooding whew!. My advice to anyone coming to Canada is ..get on the continental cross-canada CN train in the East and enjoy a five to 7 day ride through a changing panoramic scene as you traverse through Province after Province , then cut across the Rockies in to B.C. On the way you will see geese, wildlife, bears, moose , eagles and countless other animals, trees, and wonderful views on a trip you will never forget. Then stop and get off in Vancouver and come and see me and stay with us for a few days if you want. I know the area like the back of my hand since I have been here for over 32 years. Contact me by Email through Scotty or this site and I will welcome you to Beautiful British Columbia and some. Maple Ridge has a website and so does Vancouver . Cheers Scarlet :021:
  17. I once swallowed a tack--I think my mother nearly had a hearta-tack. Come to think about it --my right of "passage" probably contributed to my current piles condition. :002: You know, like the one IHE described in great detail at least 2 to 3 years ago right on here. And then said my treatment suggestions helped him enormously..... are you there IHE? How is your condition these days? Perky? Second major gaffe was when here in Canada I applied for my own job. I was desperate to get away from my General Manager who destroyed everybody he touched. I then received a conciliatory call from himself asking me very nicely to meet him at one of the offices for a chat. He refused to explain why he was firing me and when I demanded a three month package since he had "nothing on me" so to speak he screamed at me that that was just what he had expected from me. Within 3 minutes he had come back from phoning the Chairman of the Board agreeing to pay me. Later his wife divorced him and he got fired from his position, presumably for drinking too much and changing from Mr Jekyll into Mr Hyde immediately thereafter. I regret to advise that he came from Nairn.
  18. I suspected that it was abusive emails etc but was too frightened to ask. Least said , soonest mended , like. If people want to make a point the Forum is where it is at--NOT crapping privately on the very people who conceived, set-up and run the forum AND make expression of your views possible. That kind of behaviour is uncalled-for, invasive, rude and completely unacceptable. For those of you who are indulging your own self-centred cowardly feeling by this type of action use the forum to express your acidic views, right or wrong, --that is if you have the courage-- and allow the Admins the peace and privacy to which they are entitled. And you can have a go at me now and see what happens.. :33:
  19. Bank Manager to common Janitor. Made more money running a Janitorial business than in the Bank although the Bank position was a senior one. Being self-employed generally trumps deferring to a boss-- any boss, especially a..s h.o.les. :012: But I do miss the boot-licking and respect from customers looking for money that comes with the suit and tie and forever have hated the lack of respect and condescention of clients who thought I was a common janitor when in fact janitorial work, window cleaning, etc, is what I do not what I am. Work is work and what matters is not what you do but how well you do it . Fascinating way to see the two sides of people and how influenced they all are by social status etc., especially their own, LOL. Their is a saying "clothes maketh the man"-- baloney, clothes can be deceptive and can hide the man. One of my good friends , my very good mechanic, has a checkered past history having been in jail for a spell for clocking obnoxious people and also policemen who tried to beat him up. Tough as nails but as honest as the day is long and someone who turns out to have a fine intelligence, a deep insight into people and is constantly helping little impecunious old ladies and lame dogs over styles. I would trust him implicitly when I would not trust a suit further than I could throw him.
  20. Welcome Mr newcomer. You seem chatty enough . Good! Be nonchalant, smiling, nice to Moderators and IHE (when he is a good boy :002:) , be prepared to be seduced by ICT and all things blue even without your really noticing it until it is too late, get controversial over a period but not too quickly, look out for and be respectful to Pimples and other older personages such as Jock Watt in Australia.... and you'll do fine. Oh, and before I forget, read the ICT history assiduously --get's you up-to-date an' all... :004: Did I do well Jock? :016:
  21. Two old gits together then? Can I moderate the discussions then :023:being as old as the hills. LOL
  22. Och Mee--if youse don't want to pay tae get in just climb over the fence and I'll gie ye a haun -up and I will promise tae be careful in the process...... AS FER IHE .....AFTER THE BUILD UP HE GAVE MY ALTER AGO , S.P., THE VERY LEAST I CAN DO IS HAND HIM A CUP OF TEA THROUGH THE BARS- HING IN THERE SOJER, BETTER DAYS ARE COMING..... and remember ...dinnae tak yersel too seriously. Ha! :015: :002:
  23. Aye--yer Great, Buffy and one of the few on here who have the courage to tell us their age.... :015: Not singling anyone out or nuffink, just asking... :023: :028: You're a brick.
  24. Oops, --I am in error...it was Fill the Fluter tattooed on his filling, not McGuire. Sorry about that fallacious fillip --frankly I am filled with friendly remorse. Oh...flipping heck. :002:
