I am going to dress up as a gypsy and hang about the Smithton roundabout trying to thumb a lift to the game.

Nothing between the teams really until the goals. We couldn't clear a corner and you could see the backheel coming a mile off as it was the only way Buchannan was going to score from that position. A very clever finish. The second goal came about thanks to a woeful piece of defending by Duncan. I don't know if he didn't know Buchannan was behind him but his header back to Esson was woefully short and Buchannan nipped in to lob Esson. Another excellent finish. The third was a fantastic counter attack from Partick with our entire defence going to the right to cover the attack and leaving one Partick player free at the back with Duncan struggling to get back to cover him. As Buchannan cut in past Proctor he played the obvious ball to the free Partick player who easily slotted past Esson. Another great goal. Second half Esson stopped Partick scoring even more with some smart saves and we clawed a couple back with Hayes being tripped in the box allowing Rooney to score the penalty and Foran got a 2nd with a back post header. The Partick keeper produced a couple of top notch saves at the end to deny us an equaliser. Not really sure if we would've deserved it or not. I thought we were rubbish and that first half performance is one of the worst I have seen in a long time. We are missing a couple of really big players for us and the apparent lack of cover for them is worrying. Partick looked a very good team and Buchannan looks an excellent player. Quite why Christie never signed him is beyond me.

Jocky Scott is Dundees biggest danger to not getting promoted. If they actually get a competent manager in they will be laughing. Works well for us that he has the worst defence around and keeps match winners like Leigh Griffiths on the bench :cute01:

Eagle doesn't really have the pace to go past someone whereas Hayes does. We should create a hybrid of the two as I think Eagle has a better cross on him.

Really? Looks like he is goes down under almost no contact to me. I wasn't watching the game. I just got a goal alert on Sky and jumped to the game and saw one angle. The report in the Times / Guardian talks about it being a dive saying "The irony was lost on no one".

I wonder what Wenger thought of the outrageous dive for the second Standard Liege goal?

A season or two back he was allegedly making gestures to Killie fans at Rugby Park. I can't remember exactly what had happened but I think Black had a few of his usual tackles and eventually got booked. he was getting a lot of abuse off the Killie fans and he turned and laughed at them or made some kind of gesture towards them which annoyed them even more. Odd logic but yes. There are a lot of avergae - rubbish players in the SPL just now. Caldwell is nowhere near as good as Celtic fans, and also Caldwell himself, think he is.

The Home "fans" shouldn't boo after the very first mistake and get on the players backs so quickly.

Gary Caldwell is anything but brilliant. Average centre back at best.

Burely also had to contend with a bunch of utter fannies in MacGregor, Ferguson and Boyd who threw schoolboy tantrums when things didn't go their way, flciking the Vs at cameras, drinking sessions etc. That didn't exactly help his task. There have been poor performances yes but the blame, for me, doesn't just lie at one mans door.

I think the best thing to do is accept we just aren't that good and seriously punched above our weight in previous campaigns and, at best, we will contest a "best runners up spot" for future qualifying stages.

McFadden was booked for his part in a scuffle after Scott Brown booted the ball off the Macedonian player. I think that was the best part of the game actually. He had all these Macedonian lads around him and he just laughed. Love players like that

After their treatment of Mutu and them going to FIFA/ UEFA to see the highest level of punishment for him I am delighted to see such a hefty penalty land on Chelsea.
