  1. He may have had to consider the U21 rule as a deciding factor .... Eric is 20 whereas Robert is 23 Aged 21 or under in squad ..... Cox (26/06/90) Odhiambo (12/05/89) Morrison (30/01/90) Ross (11/11/91) Shinnie (04/08/91) Sutherland (23/10/90)
  2. prediction - somewhere between 6th and 8th but anything above the relegation zone will do fine for me next season.
  3. nah that was bazza's screamer. first spl goal from golly was at pittodrie To clarify ..... I think this is what the users are saying, but 1. Golly scored our first ever SPL goal. this was at Pittodrie Vs Dunfermline on 15/08/04 http://stats.caleythistleonline.com/matchdetails.php?id=229 2. Barry scored our first ever SPL goal at the TCS. this was also Vs Dunfermline on 29/01/05 http://stats.caleythistleonline.com/matchdetails.php?id=254 now, can we get back on topic
  4. I am going to guess at Allison, Duff, Eagle ..... Bully will go back to Latvia, Djebi-Zadi to France and Stratford to ???
  5. what none of us know is how he has recovered from that injury. cruciate injuries can be career changing and a coach who works with players week in week out is far better placed to make a rational decision on the lasting effects of such an injury than the likes of us who are basing things on sentiment and past performance. Would he be the same player? Might he be more injury prone? Might he be more timid in tackles and such like as he fears injuring himself again? It is definitely a shame as we all had high hopes for the lad, willing him on to become a success just like we did with other youngsters who didnt quite make it. I hope he can find a new club and be succesfull at some level.
  6. those salaries, and the overall wage bill per week are really scary !!!
  7. Disappointed for Duff but maybe Terry knows best on this one ... coming back from a cruciate injury is hard enough but as a youngster, heading for the SPL, and maybe being pitched in against the big boys might have been a step too far. Also a little disappointed that Eagle is gone. Whilst he never set the heather on fire I thought he might be a useful squad player. The rest are as expected and necessary if we want to see new players come in. The SPL is not the cash cow it was 2 or 3 seasons ago (cash cow compared to the SFL if not other leagues!) and neither the SPL or ICT will be awash with money when we rejoin it. TB will have a bigger budget but it will not be a huge one and given what he has achieved this season, I for one am happy to let him call the shots without my uninformed criticism
  8. Golly was played on a handful of occasions in our first two seasons in the SPL before being loaned to Livingston midway through our third season. oops - my bad. You are indeed correct, and checking back on the stats I see he played 41 times in 04/05, 16 +5 sub in 05/06 and twice in 06/07. Way off the mark on this one Still think he will be motivated though :023:
  9. Updated with the 6 released players ... just Esson, Tokely, Proctor, Golly & McBain left in limbo now .... as none have been released I guess we should assume all are considering an offer of some sort or will at least be made an offer.
  10. Given that most started this SFL1 season as maybe a 2 or 3 and ended up as 4s or 5s then I am giving everyone a 3 for the start of next season and hope that many go on to become 4s or 5s !!! I guess it is inevitable that one or two may unfortunately drop to 2 or even 1 but staying positive until proven otherwise. IHE - think you are being too hard on Golly and Rosscoe and maybe even McBain. Golly is a local lad, into the SPL for the first time (?) and will be determined to start next season how he finished this one. I think his drive and motivation will keep his old legs going. Rosscoe is a machine and while I agree that he may not be as good at RB as he gets older and slower, I think he will still be a formidable centre half. Royster is a 'confidence player' a bit like Wyness and if TB can keep him confident and motivated then I believe we will see decent performances. If the head goes down then he may struggle. Gordy - Foran was in SPL before ... 3 seasons at Motherwell with around 90 appearances and 23 goals.
  11. online coverage from both papers .... crap !

You have got to assume that the bottom team will still be relegated and that additional teams will be promoted should there be reconstruction. No relegation would be a bonus but I would hope we would be shooting for the best possible finish we can achieve as each place is worth more money in bonuses from the SPL. I am guessing a mid table finish somewhere between 6th and 8th and I would be happy with that. I truly believe we will have the squad in place that can achieve safety well before the end of the season this time. Those who have been there before - and who suffered at the end of last season - do not want to be relegated again, its painful, and those who are entering the SPL for the first time will be desperate to do well, not only for TB but also to raise their own profiles, transfer value and international prospects...
  13. highlights should now be available.
  14. tell me about it ... We have a number of sites on this server and it has been down since before 6AM (my time) this morning .... not sure when it went down as it was working last night, but when I went to check one of the sites this morning, it wasnt working ... we have logged a support ticket, but for now its all we can do ..... Football is year round for me :021: ...... August - May = ICT ..... April - November = TFC
  16. Technical issue at the host's data centre (different host to the one we use for this site). support ticket has been lodged.

    delighted :D
  18. 2 x signed tops from the Celtic game in 2000. As I was a player sponsor (x2) at that point, these are real squad tops not just 'replicas', and because it took so long to receive them they were also worn in the Hearts game at Tynecastle too !!!! Tommy was keeping them safe for some reason but had to give them up to me !
  19. only thing you might want to argue is that Esson - with 18 clean sheets - might be in there ahead of Tuffey who also had a stormer of a season, but other than that its a pretty fair XI .... and one that would scare a few bottom 6 teams too !!!!
  20. ok folks - less of the personal abuse .... lets get back on track now.
  21. Actually, that is not quite correct. I know exactly who you are talking about and the person you are referring to (the one who snarled) is a good friend of mine and there is more to the story than you might have witnessed. The person he 'snarled' at had been slating ICT players and management all through the game (I heard it with my own ears and almost said/shouted something to the guy myself). He then chose to sarcastically applaud Vigurs (i think) off the pitch whilst continuing to make derogatory comments about ICT/Butcher. Admittedly, my friend's reaction - as a diehard home and away ICT supporter - was a bit OTT, he admits that himself, and it was probably as a result of us playing as badly as we did that day, but after that incident he calmed down and nothing more would have happened if it hadnt been for the guy down the front stirring it further as he left. As far as my friend going to hit the guy, you clearly did not hear what was said as the first guy went past him a few minutes before the end of the game .... He basically invited a square go, told him he was going to be waiting for him so he could kick the **** out of him, and made some additional comments that got the reaction he was wanting .... I was sitting in the row behind and I can tell you it nearly got me off my seat too !!! He wasnt waiting, but I do wonder what his reaction might have been when faced with the likes of myself, Big Stew and one or two other big lads who my friend was giving a lift back to the pub after the game ...... Suffice to say that the stewards came to speak to my friend shortly after the other guy left and assured him that it was not him in the wrong for the stairway altercation, even if he was OTT when shouting at the guy.
  22. We have begun the process of switching CTO from our current registrars to new ones. It should be seamless but if any issues are encountered we will post a status update on www.caleythistleoffline.com
  23. I think you need to look broader ..... Perhaps not all, but I would definitely say most of the people 'inside' ICT are indeed 'football people' but it is not them who make the rules ...... The rules are dictated by national football authorities. Some of them are there own 'silly' rules but many are made under pressure from government or world football bodies. This trickle down effect means that the clubs are usually just the messenger in announcing and enforcing what is and is not acceptable. My own issue is that they try to use very specific events - Heysel, Hillsborough, Bradford to name but three - to apply a single solution to a broad canvas where sometimes it fits and sometimes it doesnt and they tie it all up in a nice little package called "health and safety". Some of the recommendations of various reports make sense, but a little more common sense in applying others - such as allowing safe standing areas or providing an area where smokers can go for a quick puff at HT so they dont try and sneak one furtively might make the matchday experience more enjoyable for some. ICT cannot apply those kind of policies on their own - they would be stamped on by the SFA / SFL / SPL or by the Police or Fire or others involved in issuing safety certificates etc ... They simply have to work within the rules they are given. First you need to acknowledge the rights of all supporters to enjoy the game as they see fit. Some people like to go, sit down, and watch the game. It was the same in the HFL ... The Howden End for most folk, but the stand for the suits or those who wanted to just sit and enjoy the game quietly. "make a stand once and for all that we are the core support" - sorry can't agree ... there are just as many of the so-called 'sweetie rustlers' that are "core" supporters and have been since 1994 (or earlier with Caley or Thistle). you are no better and no worse than any other supporter, the issue is that you would like to enjoy the game in a different manner than others. "this is the way we want things done and we want it done our way" - That kind of attitude which oozes a sense of extreme entitlement will get you precisely nowhere. It smacks of arrogance and if presented with that ultimatum most people who are in a position to make a decision will push back against it. what you need to do is come up with alternatives and present a plan to the club to see if they can - under the rules - accomodate some or all of your 'demands'. Make them requests rather than demands and do it through a legitimate body like the Supporters Trust and you stand far more of a chance than going about demanding things because it is your right ! I gave you one suggestion - designated supporters sections like Toronto FC. I dont know if its workable at the TCS or not given the economies of scale but if thats not viable, put your thinking cap on and come up with something that is and then work with the club to try and achieve it. We have had quite enough confrontations for one (or two) seasons and although ultimately you are right that fan power may have tipped the scales in removing Brewster and installing Butcher, dont kid yourself that it was the only factor. I have high hopes for things behind the scenes in the coming season. It is a club that seems to have realised it needs to work with the fans more closely - as it once did - and we as fans need to reciprocate in working with the club again rather than making everything a confrontation.
  24. indeed In all honesty, I have to say that the last match I attended (Ross County at the TCS in August of this season) was pretty subdued. I sat in the main stand, above the tunnel, in more or less the same location where I used to have my season tickets and I know that the people around there are not naturally subdued ... as we climbed the leagues, this section was great fun and there were always some cracking retorts, comments or shouts coming from there and we also joined in with chants ...... This time it was like a 'forced' environment. I discussed it with a few and was told "times have changed". People felt it wasnt worth it to get loud or to shout things (even clean things) or to stand up or chant as they would have stewards or police on them for one reason or another and it just wasnt worth it. There are plenty of people in all parts of the ground who would like to get an atmosphere going, they just cant ... either because of a mild form of oppression or because those around them put peer pressure on them to sit down and shut up (as witnessed by various comments in this thread). I hope the club - via Kenny - can take some things on board, and I think they will, but every time I think about the atmosphere at that derby game .... our first against County at the TCS in the league for 5 years, I also think back to what I experienced a week before and a week after watching Toronto FC. 20,000+ fans in the stadium, a club that designates certain sections as 'supporters sections' where they actually tell ticket purchasers "this area will be loud, this area will have people standing, this area will have banners ... if you want somewhere quieter, please let us know and we will change over your ticket". I know the rules are different over here regarding standing and such like but the club do encourage fans to be loud and exuberant in certain sections and accomodate the quieter ones in other more 'corporate' sections .... I wonder if that could be made to work at the TCS ?
  25. I believe so, yes. But as his loan contract ends at the end of the season I just put him as 'out of contract'
