  1. :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: I have so missed these sort of posts.
  2. More excellent psychological warfare from Brewster. He states in the press that he is interested in taking on Lee Wilkie. This will wind up Dods even more and increase his desire to be an Arab. This will increase his resolve to leave Sneck as well and his agent is bound to exert more pressure on ICT..and Brewster will think that it could lead to a decreased fee. The agents statement is clearly aimed at winding up the supporters as well and increasing the pressure on the ICT management. :008: :008: Bye Bye Dodsy.
  3. Yet another prediction comes true. :003: Reply #67 on: May 28, 2006, 07:12:17 PM DODS Similiarly indebted if not more so. Must have doubts about moving on into a different club and system. Wants/needs the security of a longer term contract to take him closer to his retirement fund. « Reply #213 on: July 26, 2006, 10:40:13 PM I am reliably informed that Dods is the most irate about the whole thing whilst Dargo and Black are being more professional about it. I would NOT be surprised if Dods is not in the starting X1 on Saturday. The Machine has been ma fave player fer the last 18 months but a player who makes such a statement does not have the club at heart. Let him tarry in the reserves. The P&J Article: DEFENDER DODS SIGNALS HIS CALEY JAGS EXIT ANDREW DICKSON 08:50 - 02 August 2006 Darren Dods has decided not to sign a new contract with Caley Thistle and is poised to leave the club when his current deal expires next summer. The Highlanders must decide whether to cash in on him before the transfer window closes on August 31, or during the January transfer window, or lose the 31-year-old for nothing at the end of the season. Dods is one of a handful of Inverness players interesting Dundee United and one of three - the others are Ian Black and David Proctor - who the Arabs made a fresh approach for last week. The former Hibernian defender is thought to be keen on a move to Tannadice but his agent, Derek Rutherford, refused to confirm his interest. However, he did confirm the player will be moving on in the next 12 months after joining Caley Jags from St Johnstone in July 2004. He said: "Darren signed a one-year extension with Inverness last summer and has decided to play out the deal. He has a gentleman's agreement with Caley Thistle that if another team shows an interest in him, and not necessarily just Dundee United, he will be kept informed. "We know of the speculation linking him with a move to United but we cannot comment. Our hands are tied. All I can say is that by next summer, Darren will have been in Inverness for three years which is a good amount of time to serve one club." While Dods edges towards the exit at Caledonian Stadium, Inverness manager Charlie Christie remains confident Black will sign new terms with his side. The former Blackburn midfielder spoke of his desire to finalise a revised three-year deal with Caley Jags 10 days ago and insisted a conclusion was close. But despite planning to have him secured by the time the Highland team played St Mirren last weekend, Christie has been unable to conclude negotiations. He believes he is still favourite to obtain the Scotland B player's services. Christie said: "There is nothing sinister in the fact Ian has not signed. I spoke to him this morning and we are going to try to push things on. I stressed the fact we need to get things done quite quickly and Ian said it wasn't a problem, so we are in the process of getting the contract drawn up. "He has just left things in the hands of his financial adviser because he is looking to buy a house here and he wants to know what size of mortgage he can afford. That is all that has held things up. I realise the longer things go on without him signing, the more people will start speculating about him moving on. But Ian has given me no indication he wants to leave."
  4. That is exactly what I have been informed as well. Could be all change at both clubs by Saturday.
  5. Seems like a nice enuff chap. Referee Profile Calum Murray Date of Birth: 7 July 1967 Height: 5' 11" Weight: 11st 3 lbs Profession: Systems Developer First ever match: Royal High School v. St. Augustine's High School U13, Edinburgh First international match: Willem II v FC Malaga , Intertoto Cup Semi Final as 4th official in August 2002 Career highlights Assistant Referee at the OVD Junior Cup Final in 2000 , Promotion to Category 1 in the same year , Referee Scottish Youth Cup Final in 2003 and elevation to the FIFA List of Referees for 2005 What does being a football referee mean to you? Being involved in football at every level in the game gives you immense satisfaction and , for the most part , is very rewarding . It also keeps you fit and keeps you involved in football long beyond your playing days ! Why did you become a referee? As a sixth year pupil at my old school I was asked to help out refereeing some of the younger age groups and found I enjoyed it and continued to help out after leaving school . It was a few years later that I decided to go through the Course held in Edinburgh officially and soon after became hooked . Would you have wished to become a full-time referee? Definitely Any pet hates in football? Injury obviously but also the behaviour at the sidelines in Public Park football at times has a detrimental effect on the recruitment and retention of younger referees . What Law of the Game would you change? None – I think the Law Changes in recent years have made football a better spectacle but think we should consolidate with these changes and keep the status quo for a few years The most difficult Law to apply? Denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity can pose difficult judgements for Referees Your best memory in football? Every Internation trip to date I've been involved in has been great experience. Other sports or hobbies? Enjoy spending limited free time at home or about with wife and 2 wee ones! Your main strength? Man-management - generally enjoy dealing with players and usually quite good at reading situations onthe park. And main weaknesses? Can give impression of being too laid back at times. What's in your car CD player? The Killers, Primal Scream, Bob the Builder Compilation (a must have for long journeys to Inverness) Beer or wine? Wine Favourite film? Forrest Gump Tastiest food? Tuna Pasta Favourite holiday destination? Lake Garda in Italy Luck or judgement? Luck Dress up or dress down? Both - depends on the occasion. Whom would you most like to meet? No-one in particular, although did meet Billy Connolly (and talk football) last year at Heathrow which was a good experience. We actually manhandles Chris Tarrant ou the way so we could speak to him which was even better. I also follow the tasseography of the Immortal Howden Ender. Ambitions? Simply to stay fit and healthy and continue to contribute and enjoy refereeing as long as possible Any advice for young referees? Always be prepared to listen to advice and guidance and to roll with the punches
  6. You can rely on the Tasseographer of the Year. You can read more about the skill in my book. :003:
  7. Said on another thread KK but I would have gone fer that 4-5-1 too. All depends on whether Black is still here and whether Mulgrew has arrived.
  8. Yon young bloke on Big Brother keeps on shouting out Andys' name!!
  9. I live in Chorley and all the wife's family live around Ashton in Makerfield. Give me an e-mail and I will give ya the craic. I have to warn you that I am a teeny weeny bit eccentric but that should add to the fun and my Dad once spent a week in jail in Lusaka for urinating in the Zambezi. :015: :015: :015:
  10. That makes sense. I had a cup of tea last night and I thought the leaves said Mug Brew. I have since been in touch with my "mole" and although Brewster is favourite I am informed that we are in discussions and we have approached Cellic about Mulgrew. There are also discussions going on with the Arabs to allow us first bite of the cherry if we let Black and Proctor go.
  11. I am reliably informed that the bid is for Black and Proctor only and is "a significant increase but installments" 1 August 2006 EXCLUSIVE: BREWSTER'S FIGHTING TALK By Euan Mcarthur CRAIG BREWSTER last night vowed he's at troubled Tannadice for the long-haul. The defiant Dundee United boss came out with fighting talk yesterday following the whirlwind events of the past few days. Brewster held showdown talks with club chairman Eddie Thompson to clear the air after being publicly criticised in the wake of the opening day defeat by Falkirk. Thompson was heard on the phone questioning the manager's role and that of several players in the 2-1 home defeat. But Brewster insisted he was still 100 per cent committed to restoring the club's battered reputation. He said: "What has happened has happened and we've all now got to move on in the best interests of the club. Despite all the talk after Saturday's game, I'm totally focused on trying to deliver the success the fans want." Thompson reassured Brewster he has his full support to turn round United's fortunes. And he's promised his manager a major cash injection so he can strengthen his wafer-thin squad before the transfer window closes. Thompson said: "Craig will be my manager at the end of the season because we both know there's a long-term job to be done. "Our relationship is harmonious. There's nothing wrong between us." Meanwhile, United last night upped the stakes in their fight to land Inverness duo Ian Black and David Proctor. Brewster has made an increased offer to land midfielder Black and full-back Proctor in time for Saturday's SPL trip to Ibrox. :010: :010:
  12. :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015:
  13. This is feckin unbelievable stuff after one feckin game. :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: I reckon that, on paper, most people would have gone fer that line up and that formation. I would not be at all surprised if we may go 4-5-1 at Aberdire - with Wilson and Morgan on the flanks, Duncan holding and Black (playmaker) and Rankin (supporting dargo) in the middle. OTHERWISE WE ARE FECKIN DOOMED :015: :015: :015:
  14. Brewsters "blueprint fer the future" proposal to the Grocer was built around Dods, Black and Proctor at the end of last season. The Grocer agreed to back him then but evidently did not count on the doggedness of ICT. ET is a "wounded" psychopath and I am reliably informed that an official Arab approach is to be made within the next 24 hours. This will include requests to formally speak to the three players unfortunately. At least it may bring an end to this debacle. Here is the Retard story and remember "Read Between The Lines" :006: 31 July 2006 EXCLUSIVE: I'LL SPLASH CASH FOR BREW United chief ready to spend again in bid to ease Tannadice relegation fight fears By Hugh Keevins EDDIE THOMPSON last night pledged to dig into his personal fortune to bolster Dundee United's squad. In the wake of Saturday's defeat against Falkirk in their SPL opener the Tannadice chairman vowed to splash out before the transfer window shuts. Thompson also insisted that Craig Brewster will still be manager at the end of the season in spite of reports he criticised the boss' tactics in a mobile phone conversation after the game. Thompson, below, was overheard allegedly slating Barry Robson, Mark Kerr and Lee Mair, as well as new signing Steven Robb. A delegation of players is believed to have asked to see the chairman today as a result. Thompson is adamant there has been no breakdown in his relationship with Brewster. said: "Craig will be my manager at the end of the season because we both know there's a long-term job to be done. "Obviously I'm not happy at losing but our relationship is harmonious. We see each other every day at the ground and there's nothing wrong between us. "There's a need to strengthen the side and it has to be done now because there's no use talking about it in September after the transfer window closes." Thompson chose not to comment on what was, or wasn't, said during the phone call, which took place within earshot of reporters. He confirmed he and Brewster - who has won only one match out of 17 since succeeding Gordon Chisholm in January - will meet today to discuss signing targets. Thompson said: "Craig is one of the few managers who has a bit of money behind him and it is up to the two of us to improve the side." United are away to Rangers on Saturday and attempts to add to the squad could be made before then. Thompson's relationship with the dressing room has been said to be strained since he asked the players to take wage cuts in 2004. The departure of three managers - Paul Hegarty, Ian McCall and Chisholm - in three years has also heightened tension. But Thompson's devotion to the club could never be questioned and now he's about to pour in even more of his own money to prove it.
  15. At least if The grocer hits us with a "formal" bid we will know where we are going fer the next six months. :008: :008:
  16. Prefeckincisely MrBlobbyfan. Its only the first game of the feckin season!! And a feckin Home one at that.
  17. Plaster is off but still on crutches. Are there any buses going from the Innes or fairways? Anyone going by train or room in a car?
  18. Just watched the highlights on Setanta. Rankin did brilliantly fer the first goal and a smashing diving header by Dargo. First goal should have been stopped by Munro, Golabek and Brown. Second goal look like a complete lack of communication between Dods, Munro and Brown. Munro simply was left standing and Sutton, surprisingly, muscled Dods easily off the ball. Schoolboy defending indeed. Get Proctor and hastings in at full back and team up Caff with Dods/Munro.
  19. So it is time to get ourselves ship shape, blow of the cobwebs, man the torpedo chutes and dish out the extra Rum Rations. The fabled HMS Sneck prepares to voyage down the Firth and dock outside Peepy Peeps and take on the HMS Aberdire. Well I dont need a feckin tea cup to figure out what is going to happen this season. We are going to struggle at home against the lesser teams and probably take points against Cellic, the Huns, Jam Tarts and the Hibees. Our defend and hit on the break style has probably been strengthened by the purchase of Rankin and it is odds on that we will yet again take more points on our travels. And, as last season, there is only one word of advice to give to nay mariners who board the HMS Sneck on one of its engagements - "Sing, sing and feckin sing :003:
  20. I would say that endeavour is greater than the skill but ICT played some really class football last season but almost entirely away from home. In all honesty yesterdays result was not exactly a shock!! Hope you enjoyed yer trip to the big city and hope ya stay ahead of the Arabs at least. It could be worse it could be davie gormless posting. :015: :015:
  21. Freak giantkilling results happen on the opening day. It was yer famed David and Goliath counter and the wee urchin smacked us rite in the middle of our napper with a methadone ampoule. :003: At least Midden will now get their share of media attention as i am reliably informed that Craig Brewster has made official bids fer Sutton and Kean.
  22. :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: A feckin Jeggie living in feckin Sofia posting the squad announcement.
