  1. I don't see Mark staying on at Parkheed long term. A move to England a possibility ?
  2. Don Cowie is probably our best player just now and we'll be very lucky to hold onto him I think. He and John Rankin were an excellent combination and it's a pity they couldn't have played together for a bit longer than they did.
  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Pele for scout. Whatever his failings he could spot a promising player.
  4. Aye, you're right there. Another weekend of dire Scottish refereeing. Something must be done.
  5. I have a very vague recollection of the track - possibly where the dual A9 carriageway above Macrae & Dicks is now. That's a guess though.
  6. Always a risk in these fast food takeaway places. Steer well clear and stick to fish and chips.
  7. All being well I hope to go.
  8. Very worthy local organisation. Their exhibitions in church halls and the like are far more illustrative of local history than the stuffed fauna and Jacobites which seem to be the limit achieved by the less than inspiring Inverness Museum. Aye, spot on there Charles. If anywhere was designed to stifle any interest in local history and events then it's Inverness Museum. I've been to quite a few museums and I've got to say that Inverness has to be the most uninspiring and unimaginative there is.
  9. I'm Leaving You (Commit a Crime) - Stevie Ray Vaughan
  10. I came across some newspaper cuttings the other night on the Caley v Rangers Scottish Cup tie played on 18 February 1984. The Rangers won 6-0 (H.T. 0-2) with goals from Redford, Williamson (2), Russell and McCoist (2). Attendance: 5,500. The teams:- Caley (Manager: Ray Mackintosh) MacDonald Davidson Mann Dewar (Gibson, 69) Summers Corbett Lisle MacKintosh (Baxter, 65) Urquhart Docherty Robertson Rangers (Manager: Jock Wallace) McCloy Nicholl Dawson (McPherson, 70) McClelland Paterson Redford Russell (Clark, 75) Prytz Williamson McCoist Cooper
  11. This is hypothetical as ICT will never fold. I like hypothetical questions though and I would follow Clach in Sneck and Gala Fairydean in Gala.
  12. I'd ask him why Pele isn't employed as the Caley Thistle scout.
  13. Aye, Hibs is a strong possibility. He and Rankin were a great combination and one we miss to this day. One of Brew's worst and most short-sighted decisions to sell Rankin to the Hibees but I don't want to start that debate off again.
  14. Really nostalgic seeing these photos of good old Caley Park where many Saturday afternoons and a few Wednesday nights were spent. I wonder what happened to the two concrete footballs above the main gate. Real relics of Telford Street.
  15. It really has to be said that Michael Fraser has made some real bloomers this season and last. Perhaps a change of team will make him a better keeper where there's a lot less "local boy done good" pressure.
  16. What always amuses me about Jim Traynor's phone-in is fans call in from all over Scotland and all they want to go on about is Celtic or Rangers. Why can't they talk about their local teams ? Pathetic.
  17. Aye, you're dead right there Pele was a genius. He had a good eye for a younger player with potential and had so many good contacts in football. What a pity there couldn't be a role for him at the club these days.
  18. I am in no way blind to the many problems which face our team at the moment, both on and off the field. It may smack of blind loyalty but can't we really get behind the team for the next few vital games for us ? I'll be at Easter Road this Saturday to give them a cheer and I have a feeling that we can bounce back after yesterday's trouncing. I know many will say "On what evidence?" and I haven't much, but I know our team is made of sterner stuff and they can dig deep. What Brew really needs to do this week is do a Redknapp and really motivate the team and make them believe in themselves again.
  19. When I lived at Holm Mills we used to have a bonfire in the field where the Dores Avenue houses now are. We used to jump the dying embers of the fire. Ah, the days before Health & Safety.
  20. A 12 week suspension is a light sentence. Should have been sacked and saved us all ?6m p.a. How many programmes could Auntie make for that in a year ? The BBC needs to get a grip - it lives in a gravy train world of media luvvies far removed from the real world.
  21. I don't think we're heading in any direction at all just now. ICT is a bit of a rudderless ship.
  22. Ross and Brand - complete waste of space and licence payers' money too. The way the BBC is run these days is shocking.
  23. Tom Morton used to give Leakey a good slagging in his Iversneckie articles in The Hootsman. Never bought anything very much in his shop but I did pick up a rare book on the Spanish Civil War there once, but it was expensive !
