  1. I may not always agree with you Alan but I love the way you say it straight - and I can't argue with yer comments above. If I put in a shift that poor at my work I'd expect a right royal bollocking!
  2. Love yer wall sticker Jack, where did that come from?
  3. Hard comments to read this weekend and hard to understand the attitude and performance when we had a perfect opportunity to cement 2nd place and give some payback for the 0-3 at Gayfield. I'm watching the Canaries down here giving 100% every week but now firmly bottom of the league despite their efforts, yet there is a huge contrast in the feelings and reactions from the fans. This is a helluva tough league, there are no easy points to be had. Stupidly, I had a 5 match accumulator for all home wins in the Championship this weekend and I couldn't have been more wrong, it sums up the division nicely.
  4. Sounds like we did underestimate them - we've seen before that any team can take points off any other in this league, so if you have an off day yer likely to get a stuffing - can't afford complacency in any of these games, they all need 100%...
  5. We should probably be used to disappointment when playing Partick but they still hurt - hard to fathom why we seem to struggle against them so often. I've never been a great believer in bogey teams but they do seem to fit the bill.
  6. Yep they're on a bad run, used up their games in hand and we've got 4 points breathing space in 2nd from them and the Pars - looking a lot more promising than it was a few weeks ago.
  7. Good to hear about the quality of performance and the effort put in today - the 3 points is great but that news is music to the ears - well done all!
  8. Well happy with the 3 points today and hopefully we don't suffer our usual stutter against a side from the lower end of the table next week...
  9. That's a fair point...
  10. Sounds like our best option for the rest of this campaign is to get bodies in the box and try for penalties!
  11. Ooh first post and already controversial - I think our 'friends' from Dingwall may not quite agree with you ? Anyway, hello and welcome! Inverness is far from unique, the falling attendance in Scottish football is very worrying and there are a multitude of reasons for it. I live in Norfolk these days so have another regional club to compare with and I'm still amazed at the enthusiasm and crowds I see at Carrow Road - still 25,000+ when they're outside the Prem! Contrast that with the Dundee derby last weekend, a city of similar size and the derby fixture only pulls in just over 11,000. In the larger cities, Aberdeen regularly average about 13,000, Hibs 15,000 and Hearts 16,000. From the match attendances I find it hard to justify our claim that Scotland is a football daft nation. Apathy rules, but given the quality of entertainment served and the increasing cost to watch it, it's hardly surprising.
  12. Fair point! ...and Alan is probably quite right too. I'm a great believer in 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' but something obviously is broken so something different does need to be tried.
  13. Not unusual in a competitive league of 10 to be close to the top but nearer to the bottom side points wise. Loss of form for few weeks can have a massive impact on your league position. We're lucky it's happening to us now and not in March/April. We have time to sort it out, I sincerely hope the players and coaching staff appreciate that and turn things around before it gets any worse. We're not in a position to spend our way out of trouble in January so we have to trust the present personnel can do it - on paper it's a decent squad so they should be quite capable.
  14. I was of the same mind as The Long Man then I read Robbo's comment again after your post with more of an open mind ... "until I'm told differently"... could bend you to either viewpoint. On balance I think it's a well meant statement of loyalty from Robbo but you've sown the seeds of doubt so I'm no longer 100% sure - but also hope you're wrong.
  15. Sounds like Wetherspoons have really upped their game!
  16. Thanks Mannie - lovely touch with the wee snippet from the 1922 match report showing some things never change! Yep, great opportunity tomorrow but as Robert said we'll have to stay sharp and avoid any complacency.
  17. Just wish I still had my 1994 waistline to go with the shirt ?
  18. Reality check needed? I understand the frustration at lack of concentration to hold out the last 5 minutes for the win (cold and tired perhaps, I would be) but despite everything we are 3rd just 1 point off the top! This is a ruddy tough league with everyone capable of taking points off everybody else, bet the Ayr and Arab fans are a bit more p'd off than we are...
  19. ...well the second attempt didn't fair too well either - way too many times when the Russians were running around what appeared to be training dummies rather than actual players ?
  20. Thanks for the update CaleyD - how many turned up for the meeting?
  21. The Plastic Whistle fans must be thinking the same - nothing predictable in this league!
  22. Jordan should be sponsored by Marmite!
  23. Was it only 6 years ago? Seems like forever and somehow at the moment it seems like there's less chance of getting back to those lofty heights than it ever did back in the Div 3 days...
  24. Nothing wrong with your optimism and a can do attitude MrC - just need the players to have the same!
