  1. Sad and disappointing to again be reading of this type of abuse coming from a section of our support. Nobody minds criticism, as fans that's part of our job. I take it that this is coming from some of our younger crew? I remember with embarrassment some of the tosh I used to spout out back in the 60s and 70s - the folly of youth I suspect. Hopefully these guys will be suitably ashamed of themselves when they look back on their conduct when they're older.
  2. Delighted with that result, the Tarts result today helps to put last week in perspective. Given the worries from so many about the effect that hammering may have had on us, getting the away win was impressive. Looking forward to hearing how it all went from those lucky enough to be there...

The Tarts actually came into this game off the back of a 5-0 against Cowdenbeath and had sorted out their issues from the first two games. They showed in parts how good a team they could be and overall I'm not that worried as we won't be facing that quality many times this season. Ok it was a bad day at the office and the result was disappointing, but lessons have been learnt and I doubt we'll be on the receiving end of a similar result any time soon - bring on the Bairns!
  4. I have a certain amount of empathy with Joonya's feelings - for me the depression started kicking in a few hours after we left Hampden, the feeling that it was never going to be this good again!. That, on top of the ridiculous league setup and the oddball decisions fired out by the FA every now and again does reduce your enthusiasm for the game in general, however, it does not diminish your love for the club and your undying support. I don't get home nearly as often as I used to so rarely manage to get to games these days, that's solely down to finances and nothing to do with not wanting to turn up and cheer on the CaleyJags at every game no matter what division we are in or how well we are doing at the time. I suspect there are many others in a similar situation. I'd love to move back home and do find it a wee bit difficult to understand the poor attendance at home games, however, for many it's not a cheap day out and if you're not enjoying it I'm sure it's pretty hard to justify the expense. Hopefully, last season's great revival and the newly restored spirit within the club will help bring back some of the missing support.
  5. Are we really surprised? ?
  6. Thoroughly enjoyed what turned out to be a very entertaining tournament. Only sour point for me was Harry Kane winning the Golden Boot when 3 of his 6 strikes were from penalties. Given some of the fantastic goals we saw during the tournament I just felt his winning of the award was a bit of a let-down and slap in the face to some of the exciting strikers who were far more capable in front of the goal from open play than he was.

This really does highlight the stark difference in cash flowing around the leagues north and south of the border. If Aberdeen are losing out to lower league English clubs there seems little in the way of hope for the rest of us building half decent squads. Something for us to bear in mind next time anyone wants to have a dig at ICT for an apparent inability to secure top class proven ability...
  8. Play-off place should be within our grasp and we should feel disappointed if we don't get that far. 9 points from the opening 3 games looks achievable and then let's see where a good start takes us. Not too bothered about any of the cups next season although I do think our Irn-Bru run did help the lads out of the doldrums last year. A cup run can put extra pressure on limited resources but it does wonders for confidence and momentum.
  9. That final quarter run in just sums up what a difficult and competitive league this will be next season - away games at QotS, Partick, Ayr, Morton and Alloa with home games against County, Falkirk, the Arabs and Pars - if we are in a position to clinch the title on the last day of the season we will have done very well indeed! Sat 9th March: Queen of the South (A) Sat 16th March: Ross County (H) Sat 23rd March: Partick Th (A) Sat 30th March: Falkirk (H) Sat 6th April: Ayr (A) Sat 13th April: Morton (A) Sat 20th April: Dundee Utd (H) Sat 27th April: Alloa (A) Sat 4th May: Dunfermline (H)
  10. Seems to be a good positive step, fresh energy and much needed sound business acumen in the boardroom - I wish you all the very best in your new role Yvonne.
  11. I'd like to see Me! I miss getting up to the games these days and the more extra pennies the club can get the better - ah well, dream on...
  12. Great result for Palace too, hope you managed to get there to see it...
  13. A whopping 12 match unbeaten run to end the season, what a cracking achievement for any team let alone from the position we found ourselves in after such a dreadful start to the season! Huge thanks and respect to the whole squad for the work and effort that must have gone into that. The thanks and respect are echoed for Robbo and the coaching staff for turning our season around. Tremendous performance from everyone that has lifted the spirits of us all.
  14. Nah - he left us a while ago...
  15. Mission Impossible is not over yet but it's far more likely that we'll get wins at Livi and Morton than Brechin will at East End Park. It was a huge ask to get the sixth in a row today against an in-form Pars side who had as much at stake as we did. Gutted but immensely proud of the guys that they have got so close to pulling it off - take a bow chaps, you deserve it
  16. Some achievement for any team in this league! I just checked to make sure but so far we are the ONLY team in the Championship to win 5 consecutive league matches this season. St Midden and the Pars have both had 4 consecutive wins (they also both have 5 but they included diddy cup wins against lower league and non-league sides) - Dunfermline are currently on their 4 match unbeaten run so the next one couldn't be much tougher. Livi, the Arabs, Morton and QotS have had 3 match winning streaks but none of the others have anything as fine as this classy CaleyJags run. We've gone 9 unbeaten on the trot since the 1-0 defeat at East End Park with only away draws at the Midden and Tannadice spoiling the 100% record, and picked up a trophy on the way. That really shows how this season has been turned around - impressive by any standards!
  17. I love these Robbo late season run-ins a la 2004 but can we have it a wee bitty smoother next year please guv, I canna take much more!!!
  18. Full time 0-1 Sounds like we pushed hard for a second but just relieved and delighted with the 3 points - nice one chaps
  19. Doesn't look like we're all standing on the goal line - BBC text feed shows us as having 4 corners in last few minutes, they're pressing for the 2 goal cushion...
  20. Ritchie and Wyness together were awesome and an absolute delight to watch - yup, no worries about our strikers back then. His last game for us was the final match played at the old Brockville, a great day tinged with the disappointing news of his departure - a true CaleyJags legend!
  21. Yer right, I forgot the 1st legs of the play-offs start that day - well if it doesn't go ahead tomorrow we'll be having to squeeze in a Thursday night game before the 28th - let's hope the combined garden forks of the Dumbarton faithful do the trick!
  22. I've just checked the forecast for Dumbarton over the next 24 hours, there's a fair chance of heavy showers this evening and again around midday tomorrow so they may very well be fighting a losing battle. If that's the case we could be looking at going for Tuesday 1st May - now that actually sounds quite tasty if we can take out Dunfermline on Saturday!
  23. Ok agreed it's not the best scenario but it's not any worse than playing on a Saturday with a game on Tuesday - it's still a 2 day gap between matches. With putting the 'one game at a time' hat on, it's good to have the extra rest day before travelling to Dumbarton as that is our next must-win game and we don't have to travel down the road to Dunfermline.
  24. Excellent result - but it's only half-time... ...same again on Tuesday please
