Martin O'Neill has resigned
He has probably taken Villa as far as he can and was told not long ago that he would have to sell players in order to buy in. And having lost Barry last year and being about to lose Milner as well it dosen't suprise me he has gone. Tbh im suprised he didn't go sooner.

Nick Ross
He is one of our most promising youngsters but i think the Celtic game will come a tad early for him. Foran will make the game i'm guessing, don't know about Hayes though.

Royal Antwerp Matchday thread
A good contest but still alot of room for improvement. Probably could have been 1 or 2 up at half time. Nick Ross looked good and Rooney was working his socks off. Gillet was brilliant defensively and getting forward. Looks a great player. Gil tryed bur just could not get anything right in the 1st half. He did improve in the 2nd half though, he has the makings of a great player. Sanchez on the other hand had almost no impact on the game what so ever. Antwerp were much quicker 2nd half and probably deserved the opener on the run of play. Butcher's subs were well timed and well made, Foran, Odhiambo and Sutherland all made a positive impact on the game. Definite pen when Foran was fouled and took it really well. Overall i would say a draw was a fair result. If there is any money left i would use it as i think we are still looking a tad frail in certain areas of midfield and we really sturggle to produce a good final ball when Hayes and Foran don't play and there is no certainty they will be fit throughout the season again.

Team versus Antwerp
Esson McCann, Tokely, Munro, Gillet Duncan, Cox Sanchez, Blumanshtein, Odhiambo Rooney Subs: Tuffey, Golabek, Ross, McBain, Sutherland Wouldnt mind seeing Foran and Hayes for a bit if possible.
-
McBain
If your referring to him right now i'd say he is slightly beyone SPL level but still a great player to have with his influence on the team but back in his day Roy was a top player.

signing for next season
Noticed that as well, he'd be decent cover and competition for Russeldinho and Cox. Think we could do with one more player.

The best cup final you've ever seen?
Whats the best ever football final you've ever seen? Can be any, whether you watched it, went to it, listened to it. Which trophy winning match had you on the edge of your seat till the end? Mine has to be the Champions League final 2005 when Liverpool beat Milan on penalties.

Inverness CT 0-0 Real Valladolid (FT)
Defensively solid all the way throughout the night. All four defenders looked unbreakable and as mentioned Gillet had a good debut. Tuffey also did well when required and kept a clean sheet on his home debut. Without Hayes and Foran we struggle to really create anything, Odi and Ross looked really lively but struggled to really prouduce a final ball of any kind. I'd say we could mayb'e use another wide player of some sort. Has Mackay-Steven actually departed yet? Valladolid looked a good side, slick passing, tasty skills...but struggled to break us down which was great to see ahead of the opening game Despite it being a no score there was alot of positives from tonight, looking forward to Saturday.

Greetings from Valladolid
I think you will be the strongest team we play this summer. Looking forward to seeing you guys in action.

robert eagle on trial with us
He has a good work rate and an excellent cross. Only drawbacks are his lack of strength and he is also a bit slow for a winger. He could do well at conference level though.

Matchday Thread: ICT -V- Queens Park
A lesiurely game. Game took a wee while to get going but we never really got put under great pressure. Coxy made a good run for his goal and deserved it. Odi will never score a more bizarre goal in his life. Keeper hit it straight off him and no one knew where the ball had landed and by the time they did it was in. Rosscoes goal was a screamer. Almost identical to his strike at St Mirren Park a while back. New players looked good today. McCann looks a fairly solid defender, however his crossing needs a bit of work. Blumstein i think would be better suited in the middle. Always looked to cut in, was unlucky not too score. Looking forward too seeing Valladolid and Antwerp, will be more stiff opposition.

Trialist updates
Do we actually know if Mackay-Steven is still on trial? There seem to be contrasting reports as to what the situation is.

Rooney on cap standby
Players can represent their country at under 21 level until they are 23.

Kenny Gillet
Motherwell unearthed Giles Coke and Chris Humphrey from league 2 so i'am fairly confident Gillet can do as well as them.
-
Kenny Gillet
Good to see we have the left area sorted now. Sounds like this boy has a good pedigree, looking forward to seeing him in action. Welcome to Scotland Kenny.

Good News!
The whole case sounded like a complete waste of time.

And IMO one more centre back. I think we're ok for centre-backs (Innes, Munro & Tokely with Proctor or Golly if desperate) and centre-mids (Proctor, Cox, Duncan, Morrison, McBain all competing for 2 places). LB is an absolute priority. Forward I'm not so sure is that much needed. I'd be happy to give Sutherland, Gil and Odi their chance to back-up Rooney. After that, it's more about getting a quality player that can depose a current first-teamer, rather than any squad players. We've a good first team and lots of good young players. I'd like to see Mackay-Steven on a short-termer as it's possible he could really add to the team. Proctor is no centre half nor is he a centre midfielder, there is no way he could wing it in those roles in the SPL. McBain will probably become a fringe player. So if Cox or Duncan get injured were humped. I'd still not be suprised if Stuart Duff returned. But as said left back is an absolute priority! I think Golie is a great pro but a regular game at the highest level is just to demanding for him imo.

signing for next season
I noticed that Evan Horwood didn't join Aberdeen, they pursued that other left back Williams. Horwood would be a good addition to the squad and he is only 24 so adds a bit of younger player to the backline. Would love Pavels back but i think the signing of Innes will kill any such move for Pavels. I hope Butch hasn't given up on Mackay-Steven either.

Trialist updates
When compared to teams on a similar budget I think we'll do OK. If there is ambition to exceed our previous campaigns then I agree we need to shore up the defense and bring in a couple of attack minded utility players. We defnitely need a left back, centre mid and another forward which i think Butcher has pointed out.

Team for Queens
Tuffey Tokely, Innes, Munro, Golabek Cox, Duncan Ross, Blumanshtein, Sutherland Rooney subs: Esson, McCann, Mcbain, Sanchez, Odhiambo.

Trialist updates
The way Butcher speaks in the P&J suggests he has doubts over getting more players in. I sincerely hope not, we are still at least 3 or 4 players short of a full squad imo.

Trialist updates
Having watched Sanchez against Fleetwood when he played out wide i would be more than happy to see us at least give Mackay-Steven till christmas. Not suprised about Milne, given we have signed Chris Innes now.
