As once sang by the elegant Zammo McGuire (I think?)........Just Say No!

Socrates - Dead
Tremendous player and amazing athlete considering the nicotine and alcohol abuse he subjected his body to. Agree very much with the 'lose beautifully rather than win ugly comment' about 86 WC but it's a wee bit hard on Italy for 82. Reckon Alan Rough still has nightmares?

Ryan Esson : Appearance Milestone
Congratulations Ryan. As a reward why not drop him in favour of JT just for the sake of it? Seriously, well done Ryan. Great signing.

Another Loss
OT Jones has only mangaged around 30 games in nearly 3 years. He gets paid by all his clubs for sitting in the stand. Check out his record. I will be astounded if he plays more than 8 games this season.

St Mirren Game
Appreciate that football is a matter of opinion but .............. Ryan Esson is recognised by many as being in the top five Scottish keepers playing at the moment. Not that long ago he was under serious consideration for the national squad and posters on here were very critical of his exclusion. Now, for no apparent reason other than 'fancy a change' some want to replace him 'as it might make a difference'. Come on guys, this isn't Championship Manager! Quite clear to me that the one area we definitely don't have to worry about or change is our keeper. But if (in the unlikely event that) Terry does chose to follow your advice, I would expect Ryan to be banging his door and seeking a move in January. And he would be right. Let's focus on issues not perception.

St Mirren Game
The lack of clean sheets is not the responsibility of Ryan Esson. Why would we drop a keeper of his standard? If our two international defenders taught our defenders how to defend then ....................

Gary Speed found dead
So sad for such a young man who appeared to have everything to live for. Tragic.

Gazza ICT Coach? Gulp!
You obviously haven't read up on JJ then, and his wife beating antics, and GB who treated his woman like sh!t on the bottom of his shoe. Whilst intentionally drinking hiself into an early grave, whi;e PG has done nothing but try to sort his self out. Gazza has shown in the last 11 months he can be back to his old self. When it comes to the wife beating bit, it was a one off, one too many granted, however there are both sides to either story. Do you not find it strange his ex wife, and her daughter(nothing to do with PG) still use his surname? I think that should tell you all you need to know about those women. Stand by all I said and find it quite sad that you choose to turn on those battered and abused in an attempt to remove responsibility from your idol. As for 'telling me everything you need to know about those women" .........only one step removed from "she was wearing a short skirt and asking for it." Sad and pathetic. Oh.....wheny you went to follow the 'hero' you know so much about was it as a casual visitor or did you enjoy a season ticket?

SPL Classic : ICT 3-2 Celtic
Fantastic! And, for the record, a couple of decisions that went our way. Great days and fantastic performances. Must have had a great manager then? Oh no it was Brewster and of course, everything he never did anything worth any credit did he?

Gazza ICT Coach? Gulp!
Nice to see that so many are concerned for the welfare of this drunken bully with a penchant for wife battering (and no it's not alleged, he's admitted it on several occasions whist indulging in yet another one of his self pitying confessions). Saddens me that despite his history adulation still abounds. Perhaps it's the huge contribution he made to ICT that attempts to justify this forgiving approach? Perhaps not. Surprised a campaign for inclusion in the Hall of Fame hasn't emerged yet. Still, only a matter of time. This isn't a maverick like Jimmy Johnstone or George Best. This is an excuse for a man who batters and abuses but only those who don't hit back. Scum. Intelligent people should know better.

The Highland Football Academy
Absolute tosh. It was a political decision to base the HFA in Dingwall which was made easier by the inability of Inverness to put together a package everyone could agree on. As is the case in much of our past certain people were more worried about what others may or may not get out of any deal hence Dingwall slipped right up the middle. Sad really (although great for County and people out there). The Charleston set up was just a token gesture to try to pacify people. MacGregor is talking nonsense about County's commitment to youth. This should be rephrased as County's commitment to cash. The much heralded RCFC youth programme has benefited from significant public sector cash over the years to fund coaches who then go and provide sessions for a 'nominal fee'. The club kept (still do as far as I'm aware) all this income. As part of being 'social inclsuive' the programme is open to anyone of any ability. Put another way,it doesn't matter how good you are as long as you pay you are welcome! Any youth product that has come through the County system has nothing to do with their Kids Make Cash programme but a result of a decent scouting network (e.g. MacKay Steven) or family ties (e.g. Alex Cooper). The focus on youth development is a focus on parents cash.

Does the league table lie
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." "I believe life is a series of near misses. A lot of what we ascribe to luck is not luck at all. It's seizing the day and accepting responsibility for your future. It's seeing what other people don't see And pursuing that vision." "Keep out of the black and in the red, there's nothing in this game for two in a bed"

The end for Hearts
Sorry. cannot share your views here. Whilst the owner may have displayed 'comic book villain' types of behaviour at times over the last few years, and seemed to shake up the management team anytime anything looked like going right, and while they may have an element of undesirables within their support ... just like ANY other club (including ICT), I cannot subscribe to the notion that seeing ANY club potentially go to the wall is to be viewed in any way as a positive thing. I would not wish it on County or Elgin, I wouldnt even wish it on the OF, and I certainly dont wish it on Hearts. In this situation, it is the vast majority of "normal" supporters who suffer, the guys who week in and week out, year in and year out have supported Hearts through the good times, and the bad ..... I know several Hearts supporters on this side of the pond that also go to Toronto FC matches and they are all thoroughly decent. Wishing ill on their club is like stabbing those friends in the back IMHO. Bit unfair to compare my dislike for all things Heart of Midlothian with stabbing people............ Agree to disagree. Several bad experiences at Tynecastle over the years, whilst all the 'good guys' stood back and watched. More hate filled ground than either of the OF for me. Think you are right. most of their decent fans must be in Toronto!

The end for Hearts
Delighted to see Hearts and some of the repulsive individuals that follow them get their just desserts! As for Blackie................suggest Elgin City is a more likely destination than one of the OF. Totally over rated as a player by many on this site and (from the limited number those I know in the game) regarding as nothing but a jumped up little thug!

Richie Foran
Not possible. Just not possible. No matter how often some sad footie pundit says it ................it is not possible.

ICT -V- Dunfermline : Matchday Thread
Very, very poor. As said previously, Ryan Esson you're a star. And Butcher didn't sign you. He had that little faith in your ability he went and spent money on another keeper good enough to get a game in many other SPL teams. Wake up and smell the coffee people but, whatever you choose to do, please keep your shoes on as it's degrading.

Training Methods
Spot on cc but tell the muppets upstairs as they hold the purse strings which are seemingly getting tighter and tighter Once again the blame is deflected from the choices of TB and MM to the 'muppets' (assume you are trying to blame the board?). Why? Simply, Butcher is old school. He reversed all the fitness progress made under Brewster, abolished double sessions (instead preferring to leave his well played employees free to play golf or snooker, or spent the afternoon in the bookies), almost stopped the JJB fitness works and took the club backwards as far as I'm concerned. This is entirely his choice and nothing to do with money. On being questioned about it he said if he can't trust his players to do their own gym work then he had a problem. Out of interest, name me any other professional sport where coaches adopt this attitude? STOP TRYING TO DEFLECT BLAME TO OTHERS.

Here It Is.....
Seen much more than me then this season. Going on Saturday so fingers crossed. For the record, I'm much happier with the sensible approach and reason shown by most in the current situation. Just slightly confused as to why it is shown to some and not others. I was at the Hamilton game before Brewster got sacked and thought we had enough chances to win ten games. Looked secure at the back and Cerny was magnificent in goals. Granty's challenge was unecessary. Onwards and upwards.......

Here It Is.....
Appreciate that CD. People have different perspectives on issues, none of which can be measured. All I am pointing out is that if you concentrate only on what is 'measurable' then the situation at present is on a par, if not worse than January 2009. For the record, I tend to agree with your reasoning but reach a different end conclusion. I'm as worried now as I was then.

Here It Is.....
Whilst there are some similarities, it is different by a country mile. Brewster wasn't fit enough to play for us but found himself playing again immediately when he was shown the door. Brewster had us stranded at the bottom of the league. Terry and Mo have the makings of a great team here, this is a building season and there's no way we'll be in a relegation fight come February. You can quote me on that. Have to correct the totally inaccurate statements you make PMF. Brewster was sacked (after an orchestrated campaign to have him removed) on 10th Jan 2009. At that point we were bottom by one point from Falkirk. As I recall we were bottom for considerably less time than we have been this period at at no point - 'stranded at the bottom of the league'. As for the playing element, he took part in 10 games a division below the SPL. Hardly breathtaking. Different perspective eh?

Here It Is.....
Good man CD, glad someone found it. Now, the $64 million dollar question - When do we press it? Interesting to see if it's the same rules of engagement for this boss as it has been for his predecessor. Shoes off by now surely? Articles in the paper from the Trust? Public meetings anyone? No. Won't be a witch hunt this time. And the difference is? Because as far as this poster can see, there is none............... Maybe people have realised that the way we treated Brewster was appalling and that no matter what, Butcher deserves to be treated with more respect. Either that or they are just **** scared of him!
