  1. We're going to be struggling to hold on to Brown much longer as things stand at present. If we start showing a loack of confidence in him at this stage for no real reason then that may just be what tips him towards making a decision to move on....so in contrast to Johnboy I think it would do more harm than good to be placing Fraser ahead of him.
  2. My biggest issue is the lack of members, which is why I brought the topic up as this kind of thing will hopefully persuade those who have been thinking about it to finally join. I never created this thread to air any issues, just thought it would be interesting for this information to be out there so as people could discuss it. LG, I fully intend to renew my membership, and also hope to have more time to get involved in the new year.
  3. What are people's views on the impending transfer of shares from the Members Club to the new Supporters Trust? Personally I am in two minds about the whole deal. I welcome the move by the members club to pass these shares to a group which is potentially better placed to give more/all fans a say in how votes are cast using this shareholding but I worry that the Trust is still too much in it's infancy and lacks sufficient members to be truly representative of the fans. I guess it's a step in the right direction, and hopefully the move to transfer the shares will encourage more people to take the Trust seriously and increase membership.

    That's Better!!

Hastings had to come off as he got a knock to the head just before half time and was seeing double in the changing room (suspected concusion). As for my overall opinion of the game....it's a hard loss to take. Don't think any single player could be singled out as having a howler, even though our defence wasn't at it's best. Black seemed to have been given different orders for todays game and was playing the 'Duncan' holding role in the centre of the pitch. He did a good job of getting his foot on the ball then feeding it out wide - only comment on him was that I would like to have seen him play more diagonal/forward balls instead of just square balls but he can only play to where the players are so que sera. Although Wyness had a good game up front I'll agree with comments about him being a little shy to shoot, he did look a little rusty in that regard, but he hasn't lost his ability to send defenders the wrong way and go around players. He had some really nice runs into the box today, lets just see him taking some more pops at goal and I'll be over the moon. Dargo - back to his old self for most of the game today. He chased balls and actually moved with a purpose instead of just running around trying to look busy, if he keeps doing what he did today then the goals will start coming again. Our defence....they looked a bit lost without the midfield support today. Since we were pushing forward more from the centre of the park it was going to be vital that they were on their game. All this season they have had the midfield line sitting inside our own half to help them out and that wasn't there for them today and it showed. What I would have given to have Bobby Mann controlling that back 4 today, someone with his vision to read a game and break down an attack would have made a big difference. Dods got MotM, but I suspect that was more to do with the goals he scored than his defencive contribution. Yeah he's a good player, but not irreplaceable. Once Caff has had a chance to regain his match sharpness I think we'll be no worse off when Dods goes. Rossco looked sluggish today, and although we lost our shape when he went off I couldn't see justification for pulling any of the other defenders ahead of him (unless you went with the logic that Rossco, Caff and Munro used to play a back 3 and would have been better suited). On analysing the match over a few drinks after the game we got down to the subject of fitness and I have to agree with comments made by one person in the pub about us lacking that extra 15/20 minutes at the end of the game. Under Brew we were going all out for 90 minutes and still had something in the tank when other teams were starting to flag, and I think the fast pace of the game for the first 70 minutes today highlighted that we are losing that.
  5. I wrote them, why would I need to go re-read them? Back on-topic, I think Caff is spot on in whathe says, however he gives the impression that the boo-boys are some kind of minority group when I believe that is far from the case. Many of us feel something could and should be done to try and changefortunes, but it is only a minority who are calling for wholesale clearouts and managers heads.
  6. Someone never read the Terms of Use when they joined the site :018:
  7. Thanks Sandy.....I can feel your love all the way over here on this side of the room
  8. Nothing even remotely plagiaristic about the Courier (or any other newspaper) using quotes from this site or any site so long as they credit the source. Even though they have no legal obligation to do so, they do in fact use posts from this site with our (CaleyThistleOnline) consent, just as they have never made issue with the forum users quoting from their press articles. It's a two-way street and one which I hope will continue (and grow) for a very long time.

    SFL Players

Why all of a sudden are players from the SFL not good enough? We've made very few signings from SPL teams in the past and it's served us well to date. Yes, it would be nove to be signing "bigger" names, but thats just not going to be a reality until we can improve the financial position of the club and thats going to take a few years yet. In the meantime we have to keep our faith that Grassa and Co can continue to bag the best of what is available and within our budget.
  10. The exact same thing has happened in the past when players have left. We will replace them and soldier on.
  11. :015: welcome back KGC...can't stay away eh?
  12. Sorry Harry, 8 Pages, but no pictures....maybe we can have someone read it too you though :015:
  13. You may get it in, but your breaking the law (possesion of pressurised cannisters blah blah blah) as soon as you use it and with the new FBO's it's really not worth the hassle. Think it was Yompa who has a link to a site that did the heavy duty (blow yourself) fog horns which although borderline in terms of the legal allowed noise level wouldn't see you carted off in cuffs.
  14. Leaving the "Brew Factor" out of it, I don't like the idea of short term deals. All it does is undermine the permanent squad and their is no real incentive for the player coming in to perform at their best.

    The Pitch

Even after the screwed up his pitch with the USH Tommy still hasn't let us down. Still, I hope someone has looked out the longer studs for Saturday as even with the best groundsman in the country at hand things could be a bit slippery underfoot.
  16. If you read my post again you will see that is exactly the point I am raising. When a person finds themselves in a no win situation they are reluctant to make changes for fear of further persecution, be it consciously or not. They start to feel they can do no right so they stop trying.
  17. I read that and all I hear is "You don't agree with me so I'm going to throw my toys out of the pram"...exactly what you are accusing those who disagree with you of doing. Discussion is a two way street where people make their point, back it up with evidence and acknowledge (wether you agree or disagree with) the points of others. If you want a proper discussion then make your point properly and don't just fill the forum up with post of "CC should be sacked"....just because you shout louder and more often doesn't make your point any more valid.
  18. Well said, I think it's often easy to forget how important it is to encourage players at all levels of the club. Not only are these youngsters the potential future of the club but success at all levels gives an insight into how well we are doing with regards coaching etc throughout the club. Many of the players we go to watch on a Saturday (or any other day these days) have many of the rough edges knocked off before we ever see them, so to hear of the younger guys competing well against clubs with a far more established youth setup is great news.
  19. Here's my take on the overall situation and how all the "boo-boys" are doing far more harm than good even though the claim to be some kind of Oracle which is seeing all and only talking out in the hope that people will listen "for their own good". Some of this info comes about from personal experience and finding myself in a very similar situation which just about sent me over the edge, so forgive me if it appears a bit "deep". When a person comes to work each day and find a desk, newspaper, in-box or forum full of comments regarding how bad they did the previous day and picking up on nothing but the negatives it forces you to adopt a defensive attitude and approach to the work you do that day. As the days go on your attitude becomes more and more defensive. Being forced into a defensive and negative approach to your work in almost any industry is not a good thing, and for a football manager (especially a new and less experienced one) it must be an absolute nightmare. These guys need to be able to work creatively in order to realise their own full and proper potential, and to do that means they need to be innovative and take risks. In order for a person to be able to take risks they need to have a good relationship with those they are working with, be that the people who work under them (the players), those who work over them (the Board) and the customer (us the fans). The more these people are seen to be finding constant fault the less risk the person will take and the more defensive they will become. A good example of this was the fact that we performed so well away from home, away from the 'home crowd' who have a small but vocal section of people who only ever seem capable of finding fault in what CC has been doing, add to the the fact that Dargo has recently gone to the press to have his own wee dig and I think you can start to get the picture. From personal experience this is a very hard cycle to break, especially where customers (the fans) are involved. The Board and Chairman can deal with the internal issues but they have little power over the fans to bring a halt to this "Blame Culture", and the fans who are guilty of promoting the culture are generally to pig headed and blinkered to realise that although they may think they know all and are doing everyone a favour by sounding the alarm bells, they are in fact the main cause of the issue. So, lets get of CC's back and let him do the job he was given. If he fails, then he at least deserves to be able to stand up and say he gave it his best shot, and not have to bow out wishing he had stuck 2 fingers up at the doubters and did things his own way without having negativity thrust upon him unwantedly and without any real merit. If he succeeds, then come back and give praise where it is due instead of lurking behind a keyboard waiting for the next blip to fuel your need to come on bashing someone because you've had a chit day, week, month or life. Not everyone falls into the bully category as laid out above, some of those who criticise do so in a constructive manner. They make and discuss their point and then they leave it at that. It's those who feel the need to go on to every thread and post the same "Get CC out" nonsense day after day, week after week that need to wake up and get with the programme. There's a reason why we call ourselves supporters and for me it's getting to the stage where some people are not fit to carry that title in relation to ICT with the way they go on, and I don't buy the "I only criticise because I care" argument either. If you cared you'd be on here praising when things were going well instead of just when things aren't so rosey.
  20. Must be the trauma thats blocked the result from your mind - however, since it was actually 2-4 I'll forgive you for not getting it straight off.
  21. What a stupid argument - by pulling out of the challenge he wasn't even showing any intent, let alone commiting a foul.
  22. Personally I think it's all the fault of Tommy....well, he seems to be the only person who hasn't been blamed so far :016:
  23. No need for the inclusion of the word knee.
  24. I think your all talking absolute mince!!!
