  1. The way I see it, anyone who has not been commanding a regular start since Brewster returned is a candidate for the off in January....that will possibly include some of the younger guys as these were choices made by previous managers and Brewster may have his eye on other young guys who would rather bring through and give a chance. In the past we have been used to the idea that new managers have inherited the previous managers team and only made minor alterations. I believe we are witnessing the next stage in team development where Brewster is very much of a mind to make this team his, to firmly stamp his mark on it and shake off the ghosts of managers who have come before him. I share the reservations of others in regards to some of the rumours going around about which players may be leaving, however Brewster is the Manager and he has to be given the opportunity to rise or fall by his own choices and decisions.
  2. I said elsewhere that Proctor reminded me of a young Rossco and I think he can do everything Rossco does and does it well. Rossco brought about his own suspension and Proctor has stepped up, shown he is worth of the place and it would be tough on the lad to drop him immediately upon Rosscos return. Brewster himself has said that he wants players competing for places and to hook Proctor for no reason when Rossco becomes available again would, IMO, undermine that concept. If Rossco wants his place back then he's going to have to work hard for it and hope that Proctor does something to justify being dropped again.
  3. I only made the second half of the Rangers game earlier in the season and although I have a season ticket I walked straight in without anyone even looking at me twice. Can't see you having any problems.
  4. Boo our own Keeper for a few bad kicks and stand and applaud the opposition keeper....I think the world's going mad :crazy07:

    Malky

It's the pantomime that gets thrown up with even the most simple of things that causes all the problems. All they needed to say to the Press at the weekend was that they weren't in a position to give any details....end of story. I'd rather be told nothing at all than be fed half truths and fairytales. Perhaps if they credited the fans with a little more intelligence then we wouldn't get these issues arising time and again. Just like Brewsters appointment...it was so obvious who was going to be appointed...but the club still felt the need to try and make everyone believe that it was going to be something that it wasn't....do they really think anyone fell for their attempt at smoke and mirrors. It's one thing to have the fans of other clubs laughing at making jokes....but when you become the laughing stock of your own fans then it's time for a reality check.
  6. As opposed to getting rid of him because of a rumoured afflair :dunno:

The manner in which they went about appointing Brewster played a large part in a lot of the negative comments that were directed towards him, IMO, and detracted from the positives aspects of his appointment.....you think lessons would be learned from that, but oh no, they go and do the exact same all over again, and to top it all off they issue an excuse of a press release which you would only believe if you were the kind of person who had a zip running up your back.
  8. Gringo Jnr is one of the longest contributing members of CaleyThistleOnline.com and it has taken him since 1994 to finally hook himself a woman...we suggested he might have had better success with the dating sites, but his patience has paid off and I believe "First Contact" was made with CCC on this very forum.

Official Statement from Club Just goes to show how wrong everyone can be when Grassa tells us that the deal was not finalised until today. :tic01: That was a helluva risk Malky took in leaving Chester and traveling north when he didn't even know if he was going to have the job.....balls of steel, and just the kind of confidence we need emanating from our coaching staff. :tic01: Anyone have any useful tips on how to remove the word idiot from ones forehead? :029:
  10. This picture suggest just a hint of Mexican
  11. ........to CuteCaleyChick and Gringo Jnr. The eejits only gone and proposed to someone daft enough to accept :029: I jest....and would like to be the first on here to wish them all the best for the future. :021:
  12. Not a rumour and has already been confirmed by the club.

It's also in the Scotsman and the Daily Record :015:
  14. River Raid was a great game, available on the Atari, but also taken out as an arcade game. They had one at the Cameron Club in Planefield Road for years when I went to the youthclub there and I would spend hours on it. I'm not Santa, but I can tell you how to get it for the PC if you like, just drop me a PM or E.Mail.
  15. I originally started posting on the forums as Big D, which is how many people refer to me in real life...especially the ladies. OK, so I lied about the ladies, but following a bit of a black period in my life I returned to the forums as CaleyD in order to preserve some anonymity...life moves on and so I have, but I've never really had any inkling to go back to the old name. Despite having been pulled up by people for "promoting Caley and denying Thistle in my username" it is nothing of the sort, but it does hold reference to the team I followed pre-merger. I can actually remember a rather large thread on SportNetwork which argued the point that users should avoid singling out Caley or Thistle on their own in a persons username and some took it quite seriously :015: I have also taken to using this as my Poker Handle and often find myself getting in to conversations about ICT with people from even the most obscure corners of the globe who seem to instantly recognise it and the club badge which I use as my avatar. It surprises me just how many people will say that they are coming to the UK on holiday and intend a trip to Inverness with the hope of taking in an ICT game.....we may not be Celtic or Rangers, but people seem intrigued by us and when I get chatting a lot of folk, who have no real reason to be interested in Scottish football, they will often say that they keep an eye out for our results....and nearly all of them will tell you that their interest came as a result of them hearing about our victory over Celtic on Feb 8th 2000. I once lost my scarf in an online poker game against a lad from Croatia who was quite surprised when I honoured the bet and posted it to him :015:

What makes it even more embarrassing is the statement in the Inverness Courier saying that Sandy Clark is still in the running and a decision is still to be made...a statement which would have gone to press after Malky gave his comments to the BBC. As per the whole carry on with Brewsters appointment the club are trying to make out that it was not a done deal long ago...but again they have ended up making themselves look like amateurs. Will they ever learn?
  17. No the one he scored from well within our own half :015:

    Black Shirts

Think we have 3 strips registered for this season. Sure someone said to me that due to the uncertainty on the new Away kit eing ready in time that we kept the white kit registered as a back-up. As the officials were in Black on Saturday that may have been the reason we wore our home kit.
  19. I liked the guy and at one point thought he would do enough to make the cut, but the simple facts are that we have other more versatile players available and he just hasn't been able to break through for whatever reason. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to one of the larger Div 1 outfits and I think he will be more than capable of doing a job for them. All the best to him wherever he ends up.
  20. Have to disagree slightly with Finmack in that, although I don't think Niculae has the makings of a lone striker, he was the best option. We were undoubtedly playing with one up front, but the tactics seemed to be that any ball played forward to Niculae was with the intention of him holding it up and then laying off to one of the onrushing midfielders. It was actually a play exactly like that which tee'd the ball up for Black to score...although admittedly it was more of a stumble over the ball by Niculae than a clever lay-off. As much as Bayne will chase and harass, he doesn't have a great deal of finesse when it comes to controlling a ball played high to him and his first touch can and often does go anywhere and everywhere....he would have been eaten alive by the Utd back line and more often than not we would have seen the ball coming straight back at us, instead of getting us a bit of time to push everyone forward. Taking Bayne on when we did was the right decision, Niculae was starting to flag after a hard shift and Bayne had the luxury of getting himself a bit of space against a tired defense.
  21. I'll let you know that I can still see my feet past my belly so am not too bad yet :016: I have a feeling this goal of Blacks will turn into a similar story to the one Wilson scored at FIr Park......before you know it, the shot will have been taken from the edge of our own area :015:
  22. Well you do realise hes a centre back with no knee? Sure hes got less mobility than Niculae but in a team with NO fit strikers in it then hes still one of the better options. In our two games this season Wilkie has looked like more of a striker than Marius Niculae. With the exception of a few sympathy call ups for the Scotland B squad (as the game was at the TCS) has any defender in your history had enough "footballing ability" to get called called up for Scotland at full or B level? My apologies.....had I stopped to think about his knee I would have realised that high heels would have been out of the question.
  23. For me the question is when does criticism stop being constructive and become abuse? In any match, be we winning or losing I am no stranger to shouting at a player to push forward more, play the ball sooner, get stuck in on the tackle...that, IMO, is constructive criticism. However, you cross the line when you start shouting things like "your crap" or booing a player...and it's taken to a whole different level when your doing it before the player has even taken to the field or to such an extent that your criticising/abusing a player every time they touch the ball. We all have players we like and we all have players we'd rather weren't wearing an ICT top at all....such is life and it would be a boring old world if we all thought the same. I'm no different to anyone else on that subject, but I try and look beyond my opinions as soon as they pull the shirt on and take to the field...at the end of the day I support ICT, not the individuals who make up ICT...be they players, management or otherwise. Of course, the above is the ideal scenario, and in the heat of the moment things can be said or done which go against what we like to think is the manner in which we behave...that's just the nature of the beast and we could all very likely find ourselves giving someone pelters for a bad play or mistake that costs us a goal or whatever. For me that falls into the category of "reaction" and nobody should be hounded for it as their is a big difference, IMO, between premeditated abuse and a comment in the heat of the moment. As to discussions on the forum or in the pub as opposed to during the match. For me similar scenario's apply, if the criticism is constructive then I welcome discussion with those who post it, but their does come a point where it slips into the realms of abusive and I don't personally think there's any need for it. I also think people should be conscious of the language they use as calling someone "utterly sh***" will be jumped upon by some as being far more sinister than simply saying "I don't think that player is skilled enough to be a part of the team". At the end of the day they both mean the same thing, but will promote very different responses. I'll throw one more thought into the pot.....15 years ago Internet Forums were few and far between, especially for football fans and I think they have revolutionised things in terms of how fans can communicate praise and criticism. They may even be partly responsible for quieter crowds!!! Prior to that the only real way a fan had of letting feelings be known was by the noise they made during a match, and it was probably more acceptable back then to "abuse" players, managers etc. The Internet is now an easy and largely anonymous way for people to "get the boot in" as they can say their piece and then choose whether or not to listen to what peer opinion is. Fans will always find an outlet for their comments, the Internet just provides another option. The debate as to whether it is for the better or worse will be one which I think will continue for a very long time.

It's all relative....Happy Yet?...in comparison to when, and with regards to what?
  25. ICT aren't the only ones who don't do formal contracts then :023:
