  1. Will there be a special guest speaker? I seem to recollect John Hughes turning up for it once.

Well that was awful viewing. Essentially saying that he doesn't really want to keep Raven keep but maybe he will but only as a last resort. What an awful message to say to the fans and the players and what an awful way to treat a loyal player to this club.

This is an interesting point. The £100k sale of Mckay, a fifth place finish, the League Cup Final, the Scottish Cup Final, a third place finish, the £500k sale of Christie and Europe and just a few months ago, the club were heralding the fact they'd made a profit and that's without including the latter three. Now we all know the club doesn't have a big wage budget anyway and as far as I'm aware, the club haven't paid any transfer fees (certainly not of a significant size anyway), nor is it as if there's anything massive that the club's invested in (building a new stadium for example) over the last year either. So where's the money gone? This is increasingly becoming a question no-one seems to know the answer to.

As we all know Hughes likes to emphases keeping these developments in house (most of the time), but here he's almost thinking out loud about Raven's future. Is it really as he says? I doubt it. What his comments say to me, is that this is a definite invitation to other clubs to him sign a pre-contract. He wants another club to swoop in and sign him so he can turn round and say 'Nothing to do with me, it's out of my control'. This is a pre-planned move by Yogi, no question about it and I for one think far less of him because of it.

How could you forget Thomas Piermayr?! And even Tom Parratt!
  6. Not this tedious guff again... Zzzzz

I've always tried to give Yogi the benefit of the doubt, but there's no defence for this decision. It's identical to when Butcher froze out Munro. Even if Yogi doesn't want him to start, at least retain him as a squad player. An absolutely disgusting decision and I for one believe Hughes may have just signed his own death warrant.
  8. Just looked up to see what Max Johnson is doing now. He was brought in after we were promoted in 2010 and was the third choice keeper behind Esson and Tuffey, having just been released by Newcastle. I think I only saw him play once in a 3-2 defeat against Clach at Grant Street. Looks like he joined Barrow after leaving us and looks as if he's retired in a playing capacity, as he's now a goalkeeper coach with the FA and with the Manchester City Academy.
  9. Yogi won't get the Celtic job in a month of Sundays. Had it not been for his playing career, Keane wouldn't be being talking about, let alone for a second time. His record is very patchy at best. The same could be said for Henrik Larsson, who I see is being mentioned once again. Fantastic player, Celtic legend but what's his managerial record like? Very very mediocre.
  10. I know United have been garbage all season, but one player I wouldn't mind seeing should he become available would be John Rankin. He played under Yogi at Hibs as well and seemingly rated him as a manager quite highly. I'd have Mckay back as well but I presume his wage demands would still be too much for us, even on loan.
  11. As has been mentioned quite a few times, the whole scouting network stuff was rather overstated. From what I've been told in the past, Marsella was a good judge of talent (so much so that Butcher was sign players simply on his recommendation), but it was a bit over-romanticised. The way some were going on about it, it was being made to sound like he was going to random games in public parks down south and finding these 'gems' and bringing them back. It wasn't quite like that. Something I always wondered during his time at the club about Marsella was for a guy who was seemingly always away watching players in lower league English football, he didn't seem to miss many ICT games!
  12. I see our former U20s keeper and former England U19 international Ed Baldy is now playing for Frome Town. He was previously at Woking after leaving us.
  13. I've wondered, with Foran seemingly being readied for the hot seat, if they'd follow the Hearts model, moving Yogi upstairs with Rice staying where he is.
  14. A good result on the whole. I don't like the way we've become so predictable though. It was the exact same line-up and the exact same changes as Saturday, both times for players who are already leaving in the summer anyway. And what has happened to Richie Foran? Surely bringing him on for Storey instead of playing the soon departing Danny Williams out of position up front would make more sense? And where has Jordan Roberts disappeared to? Is he injured? There can't be any other reason for him to totally fall out of the side. I can't help to shake off an ongoing 'end of days' feeling around the club at the moment. I honestly have a feeling Yogi will be saying cheerio at the end of the season, as the manager anyway.
  15. Was anyone aware we were playing three at the back on the Saturday? Certainly didn't look like it to me.
  16. I reckon even if we were winning games, in terms of entertainment it wouldn't matter. People simply don't want to watch all-out possession football.
  17. Doubt people in Montreal will like being classed as American!
  18. Stuart Cosgrove was saying on Off The Ball the other week that due to McDiarmid Park's proximity to the biggest crematorium in Tayside, it's not unknown for St Johnstone to make more in a single day of holding funeral meals etc. than it is from a St Johnstone home game!
  19. Can someone who wants Foran installed as manager answer these questions - what management/coaching experience does he have? What does he know about training? What does he know about tactics? What does he know about contract deals and scouting? If the answer for any of these is 'He doesn't' then he's not qualified to be the manager, not yet anyway.
  20. Not a chance we should be considering dropping Tremarco. He's been excellent the last few games.
  21. Benjamin Omerovic has signed for Norwegian side Honefoss BK in Norway. They play in 2.Divisjon which is the third tier and last played in the top flight (Tippeligaen) in 2013. I also see the club's manager is named Rene Skovdahl. No idea if he's related to the former Aberdeen manager though.
  22. He went onto play for Hamilton Accies after us along with a couple of other Scottish clubs. I'm sure he was an Invernesian American though, as he was from here but grew up in Iowa or somewhere.
  23. He was at Elgin for quite a while after he left us if I remember right.
  24. If the scenario did come up, I would undoubtedly prefer Kevin MacDonald as manager with Foran as assistant than the other way (that's if MacDonald would want to move back up here anyway). I must admit, the whole Foran-for-manager stuff has never sat right with me. Now don't get me wrong, Foran's been our captain for years now and he's been a great player but just parachuting him doesn't sit with me. Yes, he's been a talismanic player and a great leader but that doesn't mean he's going to be a great manager. Tony Adams was a great captain but he was a rubbish manager. Many fans of other clubs would also point out Terry Butcher as falling into the same bracket. And it's not just that. What coaching experience does Foran have? What contacts does he have? What does he know about scouting and training and tactics? There's also the case as well is that in any job, it's not always a good idea to promote someone from being 'one of the lads' to the boss. Now that's not to say I'm writing him off forever and saying I wouldn't want him ever, but before he takes the top job here, I'd rather he even left the club and made his way up the leagues in his own right like Paul Hartley did. It's a no from me, for now.
  25. We know Fon Williams, Polworth and Devine have been offered new deals but I also recollect talk that a new contract was being offered to Tansey after the Aberdeen saga. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Horner retained. Can't help but shake the feeling though that Roberts and Raven will not be offered deals. If that turns out to be true, I for one will not be pleased, especially if they're replaced in dross and in the case of the latter, replaced by playing our best centre-back out of position.
