  1. 2015 - 2000 was great but going out to a rubbish Aberdeen afterwards was tough. 2003 I remember us being under the cosh for most of the game (Bobby Mann blinder in defence?) and for being a freezing cauld Sunday night. 2015 was topped off with a great late goal and led to the final. So it just pips 2000.
  2. Agree with all of the above, a fantastic day out but enjoyed mostly in retrospect, a real emotional roller coaster of a game. I thought the team were immense throughout, and played all the best football. Celtic look really limited when GMS and Armstrong aren't available. So, Nevin, I think we were the better team. For the disputed penalty, I don't see how it can have been deliberate, but the media furore (including Sportscene) just highlights than when the Old Firm are victims of a dodgy decision, it's news, but when it's the other lot (Warren's soft booking, the sub keeper flattening Ofere, the ref bottling giving Scott Brown a second yellow, Celtic scoring from two free kicks but when we're given them the Celtic wall is allowed to stand on top of the wall) it's just swept under the carpet. Better team won. Great game, great day, should be a terrific final. Never been to a ScoCuFi before. Immensely looking forward to it. Final word of caution; though they won on Sat, Falkirk didn't play very well but they're better than that. No complacency.
  3. Town teams (aye, I know Sneck is officially a city noo, but...) can put up a real show for a final. This final will be all about football from two good footballing, passing teams and there's no real excuse for anybody from Sneck or Falkirk, or who have any connection with either, not to be there in May. Even the Old Firm jersey wearers in both burgs, if they want to. It'd take a bit to fill Hampden, bit with the right pricing and marketing there can be a fair turnout from both clubs and maybe a good lot of neutrals. And even if the stadium isnae full, doesn't mean there's nae atmosphere. Who was making all the noise yesterday?
  4. I agree he was quite outstanding yesterday, towering above some of the overpaid prima donnas in the opposition. Too good, I'd have to say, for Aberdeen, but it's his choice.
  5. Given the SFA/SPFL's crazy kick-off times, and their inability to get sponsors for some tournaments, they might consider approaching some of the hotel chains since they do very well out of the authorities' kowtowing to the TV companies.
  6. Aye - in fairness they've also picked one of the Newcastle Five at Ayebroke who is long-term injured...
  7. When that team was liquidated after fleecing the game for years, and there was talk of Armageddon for the game, rumblings came about 'listening to the fans'. So now we get even more insane kick-off times to suit TV companies and armchair supporters with no great interest in the teams involved. Neil Doncaster - keeping crowds low, fans disaffected and sponsors rare! (Lest anyone plays the CENTRAL BELT BIAS! card, the SFA and Doncaster don't give a monkey's where the supporters or their teams are from, it's TV they're interested in. Sad as it is, Celtic will have loads of supporters in Inverness (and many other distant places) who are also furious about this.
  8. There was a midweek away game at Ayr United round about the same time - won 3-1 iirc, and I counted 12 people in the shed behind the goals. May have been others in the stand. The pie stall people were begging the Ayr Dozen to buy more edibles.
  9. Best to either record the highlights and FF to the ICT coverage or just watch it online. Other 'Rangers' who still exist - Cambuslang, Kilwinning, Kilsyth, QPR, Stafford.
  10. Should be a winnable game but we need to watch as Raith are a decent side coming into form, even when they are not playing the dysfunctional Southsiders. If I get north for the game it'll be the first time I've ever booed Raith winger Grant Anderson who had two excellent seasons at, ahem, Kirkie Rob Roy.
  11. Billy McK missed a couple even against Accies that were exactly like Marley's missed pair in the first half, so credit for actually bagging one. I agree with the summaries of the game above but I also felt there was a bit of pressure put on the team in the second half with lots of lumped-up headers and clearances when there was time and space to distribute the ball, but possession went straight back to the opposition. On the whole, though, lots of horrible cup memories of being at Firhill so no complaints this time.
  12. Couldn't be bothered reading it. Seems a lot of words for Old Firm supporters.
  13. Had completely forgotten about Morais until he was shown as a scorer against Mourinho's mob. Well done him.
  14. You certainly wouldn't field him - or even name him as a sub - v Aberdeen. Aberdeen have hit the sand and we might well finish above them. McInnes might get a Championship or League 1 mgt offer and shoot the craw. SIgning for Aberdeen is rarely a good thing these days.
  15. He's been brilliant for ICT. Sorry to see him go to Aberdown, though. They may be doing all right just now, but they have a reputation for wrecking careers.
  16. Not a fan of sweariness but I can thole it when it's laced with wit. 'Imrie yer a f***** paedo c***' which I heard from up the back of the stand yesterday is kinda lacking in wit. And the dog barking was just weird.
  17. Of course, maybe they'll jack up the pies to a tenner each...
  18. Accies would have got plenty of plaudits if they'd made it £10 for all, so this is a touch of real class. Remember the protest years and years ago at St Johnstone's massive entrance fees when some supporters turned up with their entrance money in small coins? Anyone feeling miffed here can hand over 10 1p coins.
  19. Hate going to Ibrox, especially for evening games. Ghastly air of menace, but don't really want to not go. If you follow.
  20. Agree - United nothing special in first half. They just needed to pick up what ICT gave them. Needs to be serious work done before next Sunday, in fact, before midweek.
  21. Pity Paul Sheerin isn't a few years more into his managerial career...
  22. We are 2nd in the league and still in two major cups. If Butcher goes there will be a quality field of applicants for the job - as well as the usual unemployed suspects
  23. Part of the problem is that the youth players aren't ready to step up, going by the U19s' league performance last season. All the same, County seem to be succeeding without a Butcher-style trawl of lower-league England. No doubt I'll be pilloried for negativity but it's noticeable than whenever any rival club is looking for a manager they never headhunt Terry. I wonder why not.
  24. The whole problem with the SPL is that it's seen to DEPEND on some notional SKY telly deal that DEPENDS on two teams continuing to dominate the league and playing each other four times a year. It's that narrative which is turning people away from fitba in their droves - well, that and lots of other things. This whole mess is a chance to re-order the leagues and the funding arrangements as well as encouraging teams to spend according to their means and not a penny more, and start rebuidling Scottish football again. The SFA-sponsored initiative to merge the SPL and SFL seems to be a means of just returning to the status quo after a decent interval.
  25. I hope he disnae go to Aberdeen, which is a graveyard of good players and managers.
