  1. Thats the link 12th man,no sure why it's no working as it's the same one.I don't see it as giving rich owners leverage to buy out the lease then give the seats away for next to nowt, but an opppertunity for ALL clubs, when away, to market these games to their own supporters. If it works everybody wins as the home teams get more than they would normally expect and the away team get extra support and better atmosphere.
  2. I don't think anyone is naive enough to think if you halve the price of entry you will double the crowd, however it is plain for all to see, football as a spectator sport in Scotland is dyeing on it's erse. Those in charge need to start thinking outside the (penalty) box and of ways of increasing income in the longer term to make clubs more viable.I reckon the DEE4LIFE proposal is a start on the football front and worthy of consideration, but surely there are other ways of generating more income from seated arena's that stand dormant for most of their lives.
  3. No,currently the home team has no way to encourage or market games to the away support, under this proposal a figure is agreed between the clubs for the use of the stand by the away team based on average figures, away team can then market and sell tickets for that stand.Anything above the agreed figure is there's to keep and therefore the have an incentive to encourage supporters to travel, better away suports = better atmosphere=home fans enjoy the match day more=increased revenue through food an prog sales etc etc. edit to say, i agree SMEE, pricing around ?5 for 3rd div,?7.50 for 2nd, tenner for first and price is for entry to the ground.
  4. Interesting article on German football and their pricing structures to gain larger crowds Bundesliga sucess story Also, closer to home DEE4LIFE have come up with a proposal aimed at encouraging travelling support, whats folks thoughts on it? DEE4LIFE proposal
  5. :004: Naw, he never showed for our "sqaure go" in Pitlochry,i take it he has opinions on it an ah?
  6. I agree with what your both saying and understand "times is tough" but reckon one off game initiatives, whilst admirable, will do nothing but raise awareness in the very short term and to those who would probably go along anyway,Possibly under 16's is a step too far, but i strongly feel all primary age children should not be charged entry to football matches. There has to be a longer term, league wide initiatives if crowds are to be encouraged in the face of many better value alternatives. The margins involved in the catering could also be improved with clubs being a bit more inovative and ceasing the franchising out to operators offering bland unimaginative overpriced garbage at many grounds.Highland league clubs manage to provide Stovies/Macaroni/chips/fresh coffee etc rather than take it or leave it peh and bovril. Sky,in the early days understood the power of "pester power" and contrary to popular belief that the early sucess of Sky TV was down to Football coverage, it was actually "The Simpsons" that drove early sales with kids desperate to see what their mates were getting and bugging parents to purchase.
  7. Great initiative from Partick and good to see ICT trying something regarding kids prices.I think the whole thing should be extended to all kids under 16 should get in free to all SFL games when accompanied by an adult unless the club thinks a certain game will be a sell out. This would encourage folk along to watch more local games and, as you say, the club will probably recoup a fair bit of any lost revenue through food and drink sales.Football spectating is habitual and needs kickstarting to get a new generation into the habit that many older hands have got out of,if it's to survive and prosper in the long term.
  8. Optimism an unknown entity in Scottish fitba!!! :023: It's actually about the only trait left! blind optimism bordering on stupidity right enough, but optimism none the less. What the Engurlish meeja have is not optimism, but arrogance, which is what rankles and we are aware (honest) that it's the meeja and not the normal Nigels that engender this.
  9. Oz. eh dinnae want ya thinkin abodies pickin on ya ,but, thon commentator wi 3 ba's oot the draw comes oot wi " that means we cant meet Argentina till the final" FFS, is it any wonder abody goes against they chunts :023:
  10. Old mans from Harris and mothers fae Skye.i'll catch up wi you one of these days Mantis, mebes boxing day if yer up?
  11. Not worried Mantis, and sad that it's a fact, but irritated and annoyed at the disproportionate finance and "medium" schools getting preferential finance and additional "wrap round" care that mainstream don't get (along with the absurd dual signing campaign) and funding for dedicated TV channels. If their was a demand and it was self funding i'd support it,but coming from Gaelic speaking parents, i know how hopeless the task is.
  12. Like Georgias above, it tends to be her indoors that decides when it goes up,how long it stays up, where i should put it and if there's a mess on the floor,i have to clear it up before visitors arrive ;)

  15. I'm sure there are plenty unhappy at the amount spent on foreign langauge translators, but that's a totally different argument and they are brought in th deal with folk who do not speak any English.I doubt their are any Gaels left that don't understand English.Nobody minds anyone wanting to learn Gaelic, golf or crochetting for beginners, but any funding should be proportianate to it's benifits unlike the disproportianate amounts getting thrown at what is painfully obviously to any and all a dying language in it's last throws, despite the romantic notions of a very small minority.Time to switch off the LSM I'm afraid
  16. Great result for us but not a great game.County will feel agreived and a draw might have been a fair result ,but we got the goal that mattered at a crucial time.I'll take winning ugly on a cold December night in Dingwall anytime thanks
