  1. And you accuse others of negativity! Just not worth saying anything more. Stating a few facts is negative???? Where tell me is the negativity in my post? If you do not see the current position from my view point that is your right BUT ... It is my right to offer MY views and just consider .... If they differ from yours perhaps, just perhaps, I have looked at the current situation from a business view and not a blind believer stand point. OK - I'll bite. You have not stated facts, you have expressed opinions. All of your opinions are negative. To paraphrase "We are currently top so the manager will be head hunted". We'll have less money to spend because gates are going down". "When we slip in the league the forum will be full of negative posts which will increase the chance of the manager leaving". "The manager will want to leave due to lack of cash and the apathy and negativity of the fans". Nobody is questioning your right to voice your views, but I do rather object to your arrogant assertion that your views are somehow more valid because of your apparently superior "business" standpoint. Nobody expects us to be top of the league for ever and we all know (even us numpties with no understanding whatsoever of the business viewpoint) that fortune will take a turn for the worse soon enough. But the fact is, we are top of the league. Can we please enjoy it while we are?

  3. And what would the County fans be likely to do, Dougal? I'd have thought you could speak with some authority on that!
  4. You can take salad but rocket is not allowed.
  5. Brown really is a nasty player. That probably explains why Lennon likes him. The foul initially reminded me of Beckham's red card against Argentina but on reflection they were quite different. Beckham's was silly spur of the moment petulance - he immediately realised he had done wrong and let everybody down. Brown's was caclulated nastiness for which he showed no remorse. It doesn't matter that it wasn't overtly vicious. He could and should have avoided any contact with Neymar but instead he deliberately ran into Neymar, had a little dig at him with his knee following into the back. Celtic were playing well and Barcalona were looking really pretty ordinary. It would not have suprised me one bit if Celtic had got something from the game had Brown not got a red card. His stupid behaviour could potentially cost his club millions and one only hopes that the Celtic board take Brown and his loutish manager to task. As for Neymar, well he was lucky not to get a yellow card for his over-reaction. Barcalona will be delighted to return to Spain with their narrow win. They may feel they were forunate but their overwhelming feeling must surely be relief that they were only up against the 2nd best team in Scotland.
  6. Lots of plus points today although we had to wait till the 2nd half for most of them. TBH there was not too much difference between the sides in the first half although we just had the edge. Greenhalgh got his chance and took it very well. Both Polworth and Agdestein looked useful when they came on. The minus point was the fact that they didn't come on sooner. Terry has stated before that he has not had the chance to give the subs a decent bit of match time because the games have been too tight. Today though we were 3 up on the hour mark and whilst the one substitution had been forced on us earlier, it was a golden opportunity to have given someone else 30 minutes. Personally I think the one player who was poor today was Ross and Terry should have taken him of earlier and got a look at someone else. I am often bewildered by the substitutions and was very surprised to learn after the game that he never actually intended to take Ross off. Billy's 2nd was brilliant. My MOTM.
  7. Whilst I'm generally in favour of a settled team, I do think it is important to see how other players perform on a match day. I know the coaches see what players are doing day in and day out on the training ground but that does not always reflect what they can bring to the team on a match day. So I think a small change is justified given that performances seem to have dipped a little. Personally, I'd like to see Adgestein playing up front with McKay. I think there is the potential for that to be a very effective combination. Ross or Vincent would need to give way.
  8. One day they will get the message that we are really not a bad team. But today is not that day. In a BBC news report about Morton's win at celtic park, the "journalist" referred to it being a match between the team at the top of the Premier division and the team 2nd bottom of the championship. I take back what I said about the BBC on another thread!
  9. From the Villa Spurs match. This happened in the box (so to speak) and incredibly no penalty was awarded! Also amused to see that in the match in the English league cup that went to extra time, who should score an extra time winner than Garry Hooper for Norwich! I bet Lennon's on the phone to him now offering his sincere congratulations.
  10. Stats show Celtic having no less than 27 corners to Morton's 2 - and still they lost! A difficult match negotiated by us but also by St J. I think many sides will fancy their chances now and it doesn't matter who we are drawn against, there will be no easy games.
  11. Wasn't at the game but would be interested to know if the apparent resorting to hoofing the ball again was in response to Aberdeen closing us down more quickly. We all want to see an attractive passing game but to do that successfully you either need to have a bit of time on the ball or a very good first touch to be able to play one touch football. Aberdeen may be one of the better sides in the division but you don't actually need to be good to break up a passing game, you just need the fitness to close down players quickly. If that is the tactic teams are going to deploy against us then we will need a plan B. Rather than just hoof it we need players with the abiltyand confidence to keep possession and take men on whilst team mates need to have the awareness to cover in case poossession is lost.
  12. To hell with the design. The important thing is that the 2014-5 strip should have "Champions" emblazoned across it.
  13. After the defeat by AC Milan, Lennon is quoted as saying "We have Barcelona coming up and they're a different animal. I've told the players to hold onto the disappointment of tonight and take that into the game in two weeks' time." Why is that, Neil? So they can get used to the feeling?

Looks to be something good happening at Hamilton this season.
  15. It would be great if his loan was extended, but if he is set to become a free agent before the start of next season, what is to stop Luton recalling him and then selling him in the January transfer window? A short while ago he was 3rd string keeper at an English 5th tier club and now he is first choice keeper for the Scottish League leaders and getting rave reviews. His worth must have soared and surely Luton would be looking to make a few bob out of him.
  16. I have some sympathy with what you are saying but the fact is that is that it was the corrupt business of the old Rangers club that got in the way of the sport. To ignore the consequences of that corruption because it gets in the way of the social side is to condone it. Rangers fans may not like it, but the fact is that the current club is a separate legal entity to the old club even if the social support for the club is the same. If they don't like people pointing that out, they should direct their considerable vitriol at those responsible for the demise of the old club and not at those who defend integrity in sport. As a public broadcasting authority, the BBC should be making a point of distinguishing the new club from the old. This will be particularly important if and when The Rangers win a major national title. They need to be clear that this will be the first time the club has won this title and not pander to the vitriol of the fans who may like to think it will be the umpteenth time their club has won it. Such a distinction serves as a constant reminder to the footballing world that putting business before sport has a price attached to it
  17. Last season there were 66 away wins from 228 matches. That is a rate of 1 in every 3.45 matches. At that rate, the chances of all 6 matches being away wins is about 1 in 1700. In a 38 week season, that works out at about once in every 44 years. Mind you, with us and Celtic playing away and St Mirren and County at home, the odds of it happening this week must have taken quite a tumble!
  18. No, you're not being too harsh. The other week when we drew at Celtic the BBC report was that Celtic had been held to a draw by Inverness rather than the league leaders being held to a draw by Celtic.

All 6 matches in the top flight this week ended in away wins. That is certainly pretty unusual, but does anyone know if it has happened before? If so, when?
  20. Don't write County off. They were unlucky in that thay should have had a penalty and they hit the woodwork twice. Their defence currently leaks like a seive but once they finally gel better as a team they will again be a hard team to beat. I think they will just creep into the top 6.
  21. I really don't think you can use this type of offer to gauge what the club might be prepared to accept for Billy. Regardless of whether the club would accept such a paltry sum for him, acceptance of a bid would require Billy's agreement. I don't know about Billy, but it would certainly take a very attractive personal package to tempt me to move from Inverness to Bulgaria.
  22. Nothing wrong with latish as a word. I think it is in fairly common use to give an impression of being a little bit late, but acceptably so. In the context above I would interpret the word "latish" to mean that the game will be shown at a time a bit later than you would ideally like it to be on but still at a time you would be prepared to watch. If it crossed the boundary where it was on at an hour when you were not prepared to watch, you might say it was "rather late" or (if you live in Chorley) "too feckin late". Of course, whether one watches may well have more to do with the result than the time it is on.
  23. I thnk you are absolutley right OCG and I also partly agree with 12th Man in the previous post. I wasn't at the game on Saturday since I was down south but I am following that, with a crowd above 4000 for the first time since the traffic lights were installed, the "system" (or lack of one) couldn't cope. I am also following that there was a larger than average but not huge travelling support trying to access the ground along the A9 and turning 270 degrees through the roundabout in addition to the normal home support and the roundabout plus lights couldn't cope. Certainly the times taken to reach the ground quoted by some other posters on this thread appear eyewatering. I just wonder what it's going to be like when Celtic or Aberdeen visit - or even Couny with just a 90 degree turn off the roundabout. The bigger issue is the siutation in general at the stadium roundabout even outwith match days. I am in absolutely no doubt that it is far more difficult to negotiate that roundabout since these useless lights went in. I don't normally use the roundabout at rush hours but one thing I have noticed is that since these lights appeared there are regular warnings of delays on Radio Scotland traffic updates whch there never were before. The impression I get is that it wasn't particularly broke but some clown somewhere has tried to fix it with these damned lights - and has made it a whole lot worse. It's a bit disappointing that councillors are not jumping up and down about this - possibly because they are completely preoccupied by the fracas and overspend on link road at the other end of town. Between one thing and another, the traffic situation in Inverness is a mess. But at least it will ease a bit quite soon when the tourists once again come to the conclusion that there really is nothing in Loch Ness and clear off home and leave us in peace once more. Charles as a Loch Ness resident Amen to that! You live in Loch Ness!
  24. I don't know why the authorities have such stupid rules. The TV replays clearly showed the decision was wrong so why should Hearts even have to appeal? You can't put things to right during the game and an incorrect decision and a sending off can seriously alter the course of a game. That being the case, why punish the club even further for an "offence" that those administering the punishment know was not committed? Its a waste of people's time and money. These things happen so fast that I would be loathe to criticise the referee in this case, but when he sees the footage he will know he got it wrong. Why can't referees be asked to add statements to that effect to their report so that the decision is then rescinded and the disciplinary panel then has no "offence" to punish.
  25. Yes, but its thousands we would need to add if we were to have a fourth stand or a new location. Personally I don't like the ground or it's location but I do like the team. Spend money now on major ground changes and that would be at the expense of the team. We just need to make the best of what we've got.
