Looks to be something good happening at Hamilton this season.
  2. It would be great if his loan was extended, but if he is set to become a free agent before the start of next season, what is to stop Luton recalling him and then selling him in the January transfer window? A short while ago he was 3rd string keeper at an English 5th tier club and now he is first choice keeper for the Scottish League leaders and getting rave reviews. His worth must have soared and surely Luton would be looking to make a few bob out of him.
  3. I have some sympathy with what you are saying but the fact is that is that it was the corrupt business of the old Rangers club that got in the way of the sport. To ignore the consequences of that corruption because it gets in the way of the social side is to condone it. Rangers fans may not like it, but the fact is that the current club is a separate legal entity to the old club even if the social support for the club is the same. If they don't like people pointing that out, they should direct their considerable vitriol at those responsible for the demise of the old club and not at those who defend integrity in sport. As a public broadcasting authority, the BBC should be making a point of distinguishing the new club from the old. This will be particularly important if and when The Rangers win a major national title. They need to be clear that this will be the first time the club has won this title and not pander to the vitriol of the fans who may like to think it will be the umpteenth time their club has won it. Such a distinction serves as a constant reminder to the footballing world that putting business before sport has a price attached to it
  4. Last season there were 66 away wins from 228 matches. That is a rate of 1 in every 3.45 matches. At that rate, the chances of all 6 matches being away wins is about 1 in 1700. In a 38 week season, that works out at about once in every 44 years. Mind you, with us and Celtic playing away and St Mirren and County at home, the odds of it happening this week must have taken quite a tumble!
  5. No, you're not being too harsh. The other week when we drew at Celtic the BBC report was that Celtic had been held to a draw by Inverness rather than the league leaders being held to a draw by Celtic.
  6. Because the more able politicians get selected to contest seats at the level they want to sit at. Whether you are in favour of independence or not, the UK Parliament is where the greatest influence is and where most career politicians would aspire to serve. Very few (including SNP politicians) would refuse the opportunity to contest a Westminster seat in favour of one at Hollyrood. Some able politicians prefer to work at local council level but that does not mean they want Independence for their local area. The relative abilities of politicians at different levels of Government is a fact of life and has absolutely nothing to do with the independence debate. That's bullshit, SNP will never hold a majority at Westminster so will never form government at that level. To change legislation you need the power to do it, why else enter politics? With respect, you seem to be rather missing the point. Of course the SNP will never form a Government at the UK level but despite that, some of their most able politicians choose to stand for election to the UK Parliament rather than the Holyrood Parliament. Actually, people do not enter politics simply because they believe they will have the power to change things, they stand for election because they hope to be able to influence change whether in power or not. Perhaps you should ask Angus Robertson why he sits in the UK Parliament when he would be assured of a senior Government post if he sat at Holyrood. The fact that the calibre of opposition MSPs is so low is not an argument for independence.
  7. All 6 matches in the top flight this week ended in away wins. That is certainly pretty unusual, but does anyone know if it has happened before? If so, when?
  8. Don't write County off. They were unlucky in that thay should have had a penalty and they hit the woodwork twice. Their defence currently leaks like a seive but once they finally gel better as a team they will again be a hard team to beat. I think they will just creep into the top 6.
  9. I really don't think you can use this type of offer to gauge what the club might be prepared to accept for Billy. Regardless of whether the club would accept such a paltry sum for him, acceptance of a bid would require Billy's agreement. I don't know about Billy, but it would certainly take a very attractive personal package to tempt me to move from Inverness to Bulgaria.

  11. Nothing wrong with latish as a word. I think it is in fairly common use to give an impression of being a little bit late, but acceptably so. In the context above I would interpret the word "latish" to mean that the game will be shown at a time a bit later than you would ideally like it to be on but still at a time you would be prepared to watch. If it crossed the boundary where it was on at an hour when you were not prepared to watch, you might say it was "rather late" or (if you live in Chorley) "too feckin late". Of course, whether one watches may well have more to do with the result than the time it is on.
  12. I thnk you are absolutley right OCG and I also partly agree with 12th Man in the previous post. I wasn't at the game on Saturday since I was down south but I am following that, with a crowd above 4000 for the first time since the traffic lights were installed, the "system" (or lack of one) couldn't cope. I am also following that there was a larger than average but not huge travelling support trying to access the ground along the A9 and turning 270 degrees through the roundabout in addition to the normal home support and the roundabout plus lights couldn't cope. Certainly the times taken to reach the ground quoted by some other posters on this thread appear eyewatering. I just wonder what it's going to be like when Celtic or Aberdeen visit - or even Couny with just a 90 degree turn off the roundabout. The bigger issue is the siutation in general at the stadium roundabout even outwith match days. I am in absolutely no doubt that it is far more difficult to negotiate that roundabout since these useless lights went in. I don't normally use the roundabout at rush hours but one thing I have noticed is that since these lights appeared there are regular warnings of delays on Radio Scotland traffic updates whch there never were before. The impression I get is that it wasn't particularly broke but some clown somewhere has tried to fix it with these damned lights - and has made it a whole lot worse. It's a bit disappointing that councillors are not jumping up and down about this - possibly because they are completely preoccupied by the fracas and overspend on link road at the other end of town. Between one thing and another, the traffic situation in Inverness is a mess. But at least it will ease a bit quite soon when the tourists once again come to the conclusion that there really is nothing in Loch Ness and clear off home and leave us in peace once more. Charles as a Loch Ness resident Amen to that! You live in Loch Ness!
  13. I don't know why the authorities have such stupid rules. The TV replays clearly showed the decision was wrong so why should Hearts even have to appeal? You can't put things to right during the game and an incorrect decision and a sending off can seriously alter the course of a game. That being the case, why punish the club even further for an "offence" that those administering the punishment know was not committed? Its a waste of people's time and money. These things happen so fast that I would be loathe to criticise the referee in this case, but when he sees the footage he will know he got it wrong. Why can't referees be asked to add statements to that effect to their report so that the decision is then rescinded and the disciplinary panel then has no "offence" to punish.
  14. Yes, but its thousands we would need to add if we were to have a fourth stand or a new location. Personally I don't like the ground or it's location but I do like the team. Spend money now on major ground changes and that would be at the expense of the team. We just need to make the best of what we've got.
  15. Mind you, as far as hazards on the roads are concerned, there are dangers and then there are dangers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-23918707
  16. The issue is that the lights are optimised for normal traffic flows in which there are a small number of north travelling cars turning right. Transport Scotland need to have a 'match day setting' which is enabled 11/2 hrs prior to kick-off. There will still be traffic delays but not the nonsense that happens at the moment. But it doesn't work during normal peak times. Living North of the bridge I head towards the bridge after work and there are nearly always sufficient vehicles stuck at the red light for turning right onto stadium road that cars in the right hand lane and heading north are blocked. Many try to edge round the stationary vehicles and risk being hit bt those in the left hand lane. To be fair, I think the long periods the lights give at green do allow better traffic flow overall but it is at the expense of some dangerous situations developing. It is also very frustrating sitting at red lights at times of low volume traffic when there is absolutely no traffic going through the green lights. I'm afraid the council has an unhealthy obsession with traffic lights. There are now so many in Nairn you can see them from space.
  17. Keep talking - maybe someone will come and take him off our hands in January.
  18. A fourth stand for flags and visiting supporters Alternatively we could use any increase in revenue we may get to consolidate the club's financial position and invest in the playing staff in order to get the best product on the park. In that way we at least have some chance of filling some the empty seats we currently have
  19. I agree that traffic management needs looking at. Traffic was very slow moving in both directions on the A9. It took me 20 minutes from joining the end of the queue on the bridge to reach the roundabout and the queues were worse on the Northbound approach. I wonder to what extent this sort of congestion puts folk off going. That was with a fairly moderate crowd and crowds of the size we would like to see and which the team deserve will only make the congestion much worse.
  20. Apparently Butcher agrees. said in post-match interview that Vincent is the PK taker and that he bollocked him out for being sentimental and handing the ball to BM. I agree that Vincent should have taken it, but should it not be Foran who got the bollocking? He's the captain on the park and should have ensured that the designated penalty taker did the job the manager gave him.
  21. There were a couple of Jambos walking behind me after the match and one of them summed it up for me. He said "I'm disappointed but it's not a disaster. I was expecting to lose but at the end of the season it could come down to goal difference and I'm relieved we only lost by 2 - it could've been double figures!" There will be times when despite being totally dominant, the ball just won't go in. I'm just glad it happened today when we were already 2 up. Should acknowledge the great away support. They came in numbers and despite the fact that their team was totally outclassed, they never stopped singing. That must give great encouragement to their young and inexperienced team.
  22. My money's on Boyd to reach the target before Stokes then.
  23. This is why it is so important for teams to get into the group stages. I would be over the moon if I was a celtic supporter. They are playing against 3 superb clubs with great histories. Whether they are bottom of the group or not, they will have had 3 fantastic nights at Celtic Park, not forgetting the excitement of this week's win to get them there. It is what their season is all about. It must be great for our players to see what Celtic are doing in Europe and to reflect that we are deservedly ahead of them in the league. It should give us belief, as fans, that we too can make it into Europe next season and get a win or two and perhaps a shot at a well known European side. Success for Celtic in Europe is good for Scottish football. Good luck to them I say. They sure as hell will need it in that group.
  24. We should be professional enough to beat any of the non seeded teams. I would be interested to play Falkirk and see how Roberts gets on against us. He seems to be making a real impression there. But what tonight proves is that no team can be taken for granted. Even lowly Stranraer seemed to be worthy winners against a pretty full strength County side. County apparently only managed 4 shots all night! Of course, it could simply be that County are sh*te.
  25. County fans clearly not wanting to go anywhere near Glasgow with the threat of a sheep sacrifice before the Celtic game tomorrow.
