  1. It all sounds a bit worrying. An SPL side should be able to pick the weakest XI from the squad and beat a team like Wick comfortably. Is this season going to be like last season - riddled with inconsistency? I know you can't read too much into these pre-season games and the diddy teams are all pumped up when playing a bigger side, but all the same, anything less than a comfortable 3 or 4 goal stroll in the park is not good. At least the Coventry game shows we can compete at a higher level so lets just keep the fingers crossed that players can stay fit and we can get a bit of consistency in the side. Players need this if they are to play as a team and develop the confidence that is required in front of goal.
  2. This seems to have arisen because Sky have removed the slot from their schedules. There is now nothing where there used to a TBC entry. If they were pulling out I would not have thought they would remove the fixtures from the schedules before making a statement. The other way of looking at this is that they are just about to confirm the schedules. There are also rumours floating around that South Africa scored 637 for the loss of only 2 wickets against England, that Ernie Els won the Open and that a British rider has won the Tour de France. All just fanciful nonsense, of course.
  3. Feel sorry for Scott. He's a very talented player and a nice guy by all accounts. Those last four holes will haunt him but hopefully he can redeem himself and win a major at some time. Great drama though. It is good for the watching public when the result is dependent on the last group and someone knows just what they have to do but yet has far too much time to think about it. What spoils it for me is the morons who think it is somehow clever to shout "get in the hole" every time someone tees off on a par three or Tiger has a long putt etc, etc. These people should have their request granted by someone sticking a sand wedge up their backsides prior to being suspensed from the main scoreboard.
  4. And let's not forget that a British rider also came 2nd! So well done - er, um - I've forgotten his name
  5. I'll be watching tomorrow afternoon. I'd like MacD to win but as long as it's not Woods I really don't mind. Hope the wind blows to make it a bit more interesting.
  6. County beat Elgin 4 -1 today after also having beaten Coventry midweek. It sounds as though the 2 Highland teams could be well matched this season. If we are playing a more attractive style of football this season then it could be a pretty memorable season. Bring it on.
  7. The reason we have no coloured players this season is that those who were offerred contracts decided not to accept them. But I agree with others here that a lot of what is perceived by the politically correct brigade as racist is simply banter and there is nothing malicious about it. Skin colour is simply a visible characteristic in the same way as height or weight or hair colour. However, if you make a comment about a person and make reference to their skin colour it is somehow deemed as a racist remark but make the same comment about another person in the same situation and make reference to hair colour then that is fine. There will be those who will acuse folk who called Claude Gnapka lazy as being racist by picking on him, but in reality they picked on him for being lazy because he was lazy and not because he was black and lazy. Of course we would be naive to think that racism is a thing of the past and there are still a lot of people in this country who will pick on, abuse and attack poeple simply because of the colour of their skin. That must be awful for the victims and I guess over-sensitises people to innocent banter and leads the PC brigade to over-play their hand. People actually stop treating people equally because the PC brigade, rather perversely, keep banging on about minority rights and draws attentions to the differences rather than what we share in common. By overstating the "rights" of minority groups and finding discrimination where none exists the PC brigade actually create a resentment against the very groups they are theoretically championing. So to answer the question, no, I don't think the club could be called racist and I've never heard what could be called racist abuse at the TCS. I am sure we would welcome anyone to the club as long as they could play football. It doesn't matter whether they are black, white, yellow, green, red or multicoloured. Anyone will be welcome ...... ..... as long as they haven't got a blue nose.
  8. So now the new club has emerged debt free, investors are now free to pour money into the club and they can buy their way to success again. They may not be able to buy in the January window but they are hardly likely to need to.
  9. 6 last night and 10 tonight. Just as well we don't have any strikers - could have been embarrassing.
  10. :aghast: Can I wear it under my ICT shirt?
  11. Great Idea. He's maybe missed a trick by not asking all who bid to donate a tenner to his charity whether they win or not.
  12. The clue is in the name. It is Ross County and not Dynamo Dingwall. The club pulls support from a wide geographical area with some significant areas of population such as Alness and Invergordon. Having said that, if they have sold 3,000 I would agree they have done well despite the novelty of a once in lifetime opportunity.
  13. See 1:50 Cheers Caley, it near brings a tear to the eye watching that again even if it was only the second goal...... and a trademark chip for the winner. Younger fans take note! Current strikers take note as well, please!
  14. Is the tactic that if we shoot the opposition goalkeeper we might be able to score some goals?
  15. If you are having a drink ot two you might need to use the toilets in the pubs. This can cause confusion and embarrassment if you don't know the local customs. You'll find the gents is often marked "Laddies" (although spelling can vary). If there is no writing on the door it is usually marked with a symbol of a man wearing the kilt. Enjoy your visit.
  16. I'm saying nothing until I've read Kenny Cameron's statement on the matter.
  17. I kinda thought the same on first reading, but you know what...sometimes you just need to draw a line under the negatives and keep focus on the positives....god knows there have been few of them recently. Still going to be tough, and needs everyone pulling together. Absolutely agree - as long as we understand that drawing a line under the negatives does not mean that we don't learn the lessons from them. We cannot afford a repeat of Friday's PR disaster. Hopefully good can come out of it with much better communication in the future. Fans are much more likely to pull together with the club if they are kept properly informed about what is happening.
  18. What a shame he did not say something like that on Friday. I am encouraged by this statement but it is disappointing that there was no apology for his PR Gaffe on Friday. Hopefully there can be constructive progress towards league reconstruction now.
  19. That's probably not too bad an outcome. Despite the shambolic way therse proposals have been developed and introduced into the public domain, they are actually pretty good proposals and represent a realistic way forward.
  20. It illustrates how appallingly some people in Scottish football behave but it doesn't shed light on the what Kenny Cameron's role is in all this. If it was the rejection of this kind of dictatorial stich up that our Chairman was so incensed with SFL chairmen for rejecting, then it would suggest he is involved in the stitch up himself and has a lot of questions to answer.
  21. The point I'm making is that clubs overstretch themselves. I'm not saying promoted clubs should keep to an SFL budget, I'm just saying they could. It's a choice they make. Clubs get into financial difficulties because they don't get the balance right. Sometims they don't get the balance right for reasons that are not of their making but that is why there needs to be some reasonable caution in setting budgets and a focus on setting realistic expectations.
