  1. My most famous has to be Gordon Brown, 3 times. The best has been mentioned on here before, but I was a guest of Raith Rovers when Brown turned up in the board room, accompanied by bodyguards and by Jim Traynor of all people, who had been asked to write an article portraying the dour and unpopular PM as a normal football loving bloke. He's too serious and intellectual to be normal, but he genuinely loves football (Rovers and Scotland). I found myself sat with them during the game, and when Steve Hislop came on to make his Rovers debut, I gave the PM a full appraisal of Hissy's (lack of) abilities. When I said "His career's been going downhill for years and he doesn't score many goals", quick as a flash Brown replied "He'll fit in well here then" and went up in my estimation. As it turned out Hissy sclaffed one in from 2 yards. The centrepiece of Traynor's article was a close up photo in the main stand, of me sitting next to some scruffy bloke with bad dandruff.
  2. Worked in a bookshop?
  3. I echo that sentiment.
  4. The thread running about famous Scots got me thinking, there are no doubt many people here who have met celebrities, musicians, sportsmen, politicians, royalty and so on. So who is the most famous person you have met* and what were they like? * "Met" is defined as you having been in the physical presence of that person, and exchanged some conversation with them. ICT players are excluded because they're just too easy.
  5. In answer to the original question, I think it depends on the type of music being played. It's got to be a Gibson for anything bluesy. The tone and sustain are brilliant. Fenders are better for pop/indie and for metal of the shredding kind.
  6. Phew!!!!!
  7. Correct. Scotland are great at building up hope and then letting you down when it matters. Prepare to be very disappointed, anything else is a bonus.
  8. Gordon Brown and Ewan McGregor are contenders for present day.
  9. That's not remotely what they are guilty of. But it's a great form of punishment for a big club, far more hard hitting than any fine would be.
  10. Soccerbase has Charlie down as being our current manager. I think they are including all our games from January 2006 (when he took over), up until now, in his stats.
  11. That Souness one is shocking! This is my personal favourite, for comedy value.
  12. It's worse than that, we gave them away!
  13. Just what I was thinking. He's been hated by the fans at every club he's been at. We were so lucky when our bid for him was rejected a few years ago. ?50k wasn't it?!
  14. So Golabek's career has gone: County---->ICT----->County---->ICT I think I can predict where he'll be next season.
  15. I think you'll find that nearly all the participants are British. It's not surprising that the BNP are being critical of this sort of event, at a time when their own discriminatory membership policy is being deemed illegal. They also like to have a go at government funded organisations that are allowed to discriminate on the basis of skin colour, like the Black Police Officers Association. Can our young socialist advise whether it is acceptable to discriminate on the basis of colour or ethnicity in this day and age?
  16. Awful, just awful.
  17. Happy to see the back of Hastings, but Golly? FFS! When we let him go all those years ago I think most fans agreed it was the right thing to do, he had become a shadow of the player who used to be so good. I can't imagine he's improved in the last few years.
  18. There is precedent for a section of our support idolising mediocre players because of good chants, with the likes of Glancy and Deano.
  19. FFS, we are 7th in the league! 1 point from 2 very winnable home games isn't good enough for a team with promotion aspirations.
  20. Disastrous
  21. It does actually! They are made by Brownings, who make various pies, but the one called the "Killie Pie" is the same as the ones supplied to Rugby Park. Spar sell them, didn't know about Aldi.
  22. :( Is it just my imagination or are there more mediocre teams than usual? Arsenal could field their reserves and still win all their group games.
  23. Here you go, from the Team Info/Stats & Facts section of this site: 17 years 94 days - Richard Hastings v Queen's Park 20.08.94 17 years 98 days - Neil MacDonald v Airdrie 15.04.00 17 years 100 days - Mike Sanderson v Cowdenbeath 04.03.95 Nick Ross can't be much older than them.
  24. I'm not sure if the NoS Cup is really classed as senior, as far as stats are concerned. Don't know the answer to your question though, but wasn't Hastings very young when he made his debut? Or was that for Caledonian rather than ICT?
  25. Forgot the :tonguecheek:
