Fraser didn't have any difficult saves to make, but his performance was immaculate all the same. Blackie's goal was NOT a world class 30 yarder! It was still a great strike from 20 yards though. Good all round performance today, but against a poor Utd with a much weakened team. Wilkie was comfortably contained this time. Cowie was again superb, and Rankin did not look the lighweight luxury player I remember him being. As ever Marius needs a mention. He is not a naturla lone striker at all, but laid off some good passes for the supporting Cowie and Rankin in the first half. Wasn't in the game at all in the 2nd and I'd have hooked him a lot sooner. At times his lack of pace was completely embarrassing as well as frustrating, for both fans and players. There were 2 occassions before we scored when Blackie had a right go at Marius, once for wasting a free kick on the edge of the box and then getting dispossessed, and once telling him to make runs to the corners (I think), to which Marius gestured that he needs the ball played to feet. Good away win though, and everyone went home happy. :003:

Gordon Smith was on the radio last night saying that they wouldn't be afraid of paying a fee to get the right manager, but I cannot imagine the SFA paying megabucks. Other snippets were that he already had 12 serious names put forward (either directly or through interested managers' agents), and that the new manager would almost certainly be Scottish.

I'm sure some people would like Brewster to be on that list.

No surprise given the comments he's been making over the last few days. At least he never made false promises. Apparently he was only on basic of about ?7,000 a week at Scotland. If the SFA want an interim manager to step in on the same wage for the next 9 months when there are no matches, I can make myself available.

It belongs here, not least because the Rankin bit is a genuine story. What I was getting at was just that it's maybe a bit premature to criticise a decision to let go of Black and Hart when it's just speculation from a journalist filling column inches, as far as I can see.

The references to Hart and Black "possibly moving on" look like a journalist's speculation rather than anything of substance.

After the World Cup draw yesterday, Chico Young again asked Eck if he'd be in charge for the campaign. The response did not contain anything remotely resembling the word yes, it was all non-committal diplomatic phrasing like "the first match is a long way off"and "a lot can happen in football". Who can blame him for keeping his options open and at least he's being honest about it. Anyway, the reason for this post is that Billy Davies is now unemployed. IF the Scotland vacancy arises this week, would he be a contender?

I have never booed or abused the team or any player at a game, ever. I do however think it's perfectly fair to discuss performances and abilites (or lack thereof) in the pub afterwards, in the car back down the A9, or on here. Websites like this exist to share opinions!
