  1. I was at Tannadice on Saturday to scout McCracken for Charlie. He did OK, and would be a reasonable choice as a back-up defender for us. But he's not a replacement for Dods.

    New Goalie

Jarvie got a run in Utd's first team 2 or 3 seasons ago, and his handling errors cost them at least 1 goal every single game. The worst keeper ever to play in the SPL.

    Rory

    But the Dons released him!

    Rory

I have said several times this season that Rory is just rubbish, and destined for the Highland League. He had a great game yesterday and deserves all the praise he's getting. But I'm afraid I still don't see him making the grade. As others have said, no pace, no strength, falls down when anyone goes near him, hopeless in the air, no stamina. Those weaknesses are nothing to worry about in a 17 year old, but a 20 year old? Good luck to him though, I really hope he has turned the corner.
  5. Like Charlie, I was "gatted" with that result. Great second half performance. But for a couple of uncharacteristic defensive blunders we would have won. It was there for the taking.
  6. Based on some of the quotes from the club in the last day or so, I expect Cowie will actually be joining us in this window.

    New Goalie

Really?!!!! :010: I thought we'd be going for someone with a lot more experience, unless he is being brought in as 3rd choice and Smith is being released. I seem to recall that when we let Ridgers go to Clach we had an option to buy him back for a small fee.

If it's true then we should take the money. However, journalists have a habit of making up transfer fees when in fact they don't actually have a clue what the actual amount being offered is.
  9. I'm certain Dods will keep his place when we play Utd, and will give 100% for us as usual. I can't believe people are suggesting otherwise.
  10. The good news is there's been no suggestion of him leaving this month. I would guess that Utd must have asked the question, but got a very firm "no".
  11. Sounds like we played well and it was certainly a great result. However, let's not forget that Hibs were tired after a cup tie on Thursday and fielded a weakened side as a result.
  12. Sunday Times says that Dargo has rejected our final offer.
  13. There are reasons why the Utd fans refer to him as Dangerous Dave McCracken.
  14. Often when a player hands in a transfer request, he already knows exactly where he is going to end up and how much he is going to get paid.
  15. May I respectfully request all users of this site to avoid suggesting that we make a move for him as a replacement for Dods. One man's ICT legend is another man's unfit mediocre first division side reject.
  16. Just struck me that in the last 6 months Celtic have signed 3 former Rangers players (Miller, Pressley and Brown), whilst the Celtic coach McDowell has gone straight to Rangers. Celtic also bid this week for Lafferty despite him saying publicly that he is a Rangers fan. My point is that there has been no real issue raised in the press or with the fans (as far as I am aware) about signing these "Huns" or "Tims". I'm pretty sure that just a few years ago there would have been a real fuss. Is this progress?
  17. I see David Robertson, after making a mess of Elgin, has been sacked after making a mess of Montrose. Can't imagine many chairman queueing up to give him a job now. Stewartie for Montrose?
  18. I feel far happier about him leaving us for Celtic than I would if he was going to the likes of Falkirk or Dundee Utd. Good luck to him, and thanks for all the saves.
  19. With Broonie going, we will be signing another keeper, the only question is will it be back-up to Fraser or a new first choice? At the very least, it surely needs to be someone who can provide competition for a starting place at SPL level. So who do we go for? Taking into account the fact that we won't want to pay much of a transfer fee, I wonder if the likes of Bryn Halliwell (currently warming the bench at St Johnstone) might enter Charlie's thoughts? Or can we do better than that?
  20. in the next 24 hours, according to Radio Scotland. David Marshall is going on loan to Norwich and Broonie is being brought in as cover. Hope it's a decent fee we are getting. :009:
  21. A bit of advice for you ITSAGOALCRAIGDARGO - never adopt a username idolising one of our players! Players leave, and when Dargo does you'll be ashamed to show your face. There used to be a right t1t on here called Robsonisgod, but he disappeared shortly after the ginger whinger and has never been seen or heard since. :004:
  22. Likewise, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait a good few weeks to see him on the pitch. It's not as if we are playing badly and prepared to try anything that might improve out fortunes.
