  1. Its time that linesmen were utilised more. The linesman has to be doing his bit to referee the game. We know that the ref cant always see everything but what he cant see should be seen by at least one of the other officials and they should take the decision. Overrule the ref if need be. Perhaps there should even be two linesmen on each side to give greater all round coverage of the pitch.
  2. Sooz this is only 2012. We will have our times at Hampden this season............long before it closes in November 2013.
  3. Mahonio we played Scottish Cup semi against Dundee in 2003 after knocking Celtic out in quarter final. We lost 1-0. The following season we played Dunfermline and drew 1-1. They beat us 3-2 in replay at Pittodrie. Craig Brewster played for them then.
  4. 3rd time........we've been there twice before.
  5. The last three times he officiated at our games we never lost. 1-1 at Ibrox, 3-0 at home v Motherwell and 2-1 away to Hamilton. He even gave a penalty in the Hamilton one. Didn't he make an international c*ck-up and lose his FIFA badge?
  6. C'mon folks!! Whats the problem. We are the SPL team lucky enough to draw the third div team. Hampden here we come.
  7. No.....ban begins one hour before k.o until after the final whistle. Who was mouthing off at the ref? Butcher made his comments to the press.
  8. Red up, black down or vice versa? Think the clue might be in the minus sign before the number!
  9. Iain Brines. quote from his SFA site profile: If you could referee a match between any two teams and at any venue, which teams and where? The Highland derby being back looks good (have been an assistant once) and the Dundee derby would complete the set for me. Coincidence or what?
  10. The sad state of Scottish football. An U-21squad for a couple of friendlies has eight players based in England Goalkeepers Jordan Archer (Tottenham Hotspur) Christopher Kettings (Blackpool) Defenders Joe Bryan (Bristol City) Kieran Duffie (Falkirk) Ryan Jack (Aberdeen) Fraser Kerr (Birmingham City)* Clark Robertson (Aberdeen) Murray Wallace (Huddersfield Town) Midfielders Stuart Armstrong (Dundee United) Fraser Fyvie (Wigan Athletic) Jason Holt (Heart of Midlothian) Rhys McCabe (Sheffield Wednesday) Callum McGregor (Celtic) Kenneth McLean (St Mirren) Forwards Dale Carrick (Heart of Midlothian) Dylan McGeouch (Celtic) Cameron Park (Middlesbrough) Anthony Watt (Celtic) And our top squad for WC qualifiers has four home based players. Three of those from Celtic. Scotland squad (in alphabetical order) Charlie Adam (Stoke City) Christophe Berra (Wolverhampton Wanderers) Scott Brown (Celtic) Gary Caldwell (Wigan Athletic) Darren Fletcher (Manchester United) Steven Fletcher (Sunderland) James Forrest (Celtic) Daniel Fox (Southampton) Matt Gilks (Blackpool) Grant Hanley (Blackburn Rovers) Alan Hutton (Aston Villa) James McArthur (Wigan Athletic) Allan McGregor (Besiktas) Jamie Mackie (Queens Park Rangers) Shaun Maloney (Wigan Athletic) David Marshall (Cardiff City) Russell Martin (Norwich City) Kenny Miller (Vancouver Whitecaps) James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion) Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic) Steven Naismith (Everton) Matt Phillips (Blackpool) Jordan Rhodes (Blackburn Rovers) Robert Snodgrass (Norwich City) Andy Webster (Heart of Midlothian) A few years ago there would hardly be a player in the youth squads from outside Scotland. Now we're scraping the lower leagues of England to put a team together. What does that say about the state of the game at home? Are the southern based players of dubious nationality because we dont have a good youth development set up or are they down there because our top leagues aren't good enough for them? Personally I think its a very sad reflection on the state of our game and a kick in the teeth for the clubs who are developing young players not to see all of the youths with SPL teams beside their name in the squad lists. I think it should be a criterea of national youth football that they only choose and develop players who play within their own border. At least then the kids would have something realistic to aim for.
  11. Levien does not know how to form an attacking team
  12. So, is he from Montenegro or Portugal? Does he average 35 goals a season? If so how come if he's only played two games? With all the golf he plays where does he fit in the time to score? And whats he on trial for? Does he even exist? One of my children had an imaginary friend as a toddler. Maybe this guy's someones imaginary friend.
  13. My first was friday 14th nov 2003 at TCS. We went 3-0 up in the space of three minutes. Bingham 30, Hislop 31 and Wilson 33. Unfortunately they scored one before half time and a couple in the second to draw the game. Report here http://caleythistleonline.com/page/TPL/fixtures.html
  14. The ICT 6 know a fair bit about Nordsjaelland and their bonny wee stadium. Especially the alcoholic refreshments. And we drew 1-1 against them in 30+ degrees.
  15. I am forever the eternal optimist but sadly, where Scotland is concerned, I dont think either Fletcher will make a blind bit of difference so long as Levien calls the shots. the lone striker and nine defenders will never get us wins. And only wins are going to get us to the finals.
  16. Why would we want to play a rankers song?
  17. Go to http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=482&team2_id=2117&teamTabs=h2h and all the info can be found. Click on scores for further info from each game. Like Wiki its not always accurate but is a decent starting point.
  18. The most hilarious thing is that, no matter the thread, and having been away from internet for quite a while now, there seems to be more of an obsession with whats happening over the water than whats happening with our own team. let them be what they are and do what they want, they'll never outshine us. As for the Chieftain, back in the early days they tried to make themselves an ICT pub. Even suggested puting a bus on but nobody showed interest. probably because the place is a bit out of the way but more likely because its a dive more suited to OTB fans.
  19. Cards are part and parcel of the game and some players can be unlucky to see red. I dont think, however, that anyone deliberately gets sent off. They feel the effects in their wages. To me this thread is just an excuse to moan.
  20. Ian Black? Is that the same Ian Black who has only ever had one red card in his career.............69 yellows though. Info courtesy of Soccerbase
  21. The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them.....................to the lower echelons of Scottish Football and with no silver to adorn the cabinet of emptiness.
  22. Should be 42£ an hour but its discounted. Must have got the rates advice from the local plumbers
  23. At times dougal you talk some utter p!sh. None of our players display a lack of discipline. What they do display is a passion and desire to win the ball. That may, at times, result in a mistimed tackle but the intent is to win the ball. Sadly the game is turning so namby pamby, and the refs so cr@p, that what should be a fairly physical sport is becoming more akin to ping-pong.
  24. But they have an IV postcode and are closer to TCS than Dalneigh Elgin has an IV postcode...............what's the point caller. Fort William has a PH postcode.................does anyone give a feck about postcodes. The fact is our communities department have been active in schools for many years. This time made the press because of the vandalism and not because ICT players visited.
  25. I hear that the reason for that is because one person has bought up all the hospitality in the hope of selling it on at a small profit.
