How many changes can we make? I've gone for a relatively conservative four.

Esson

Piermayr Williams Gillet G.Shinnie

Jones Foran

Hayes Winnall Gnakpa

McKay

Subs: Tuffey, Tokely, Proctor, Tansey, Ross, Sutherland, Tade

I would love to dump more members of the back four, but I'm horrified by the idea of Tokely or Proctor up against Russell. Piermayr has always looked solid when he's been in the side. Jones absolutely has to start this game, presumably at Tansey's expense. Winnall deserves a chance - he can't be any worse than the rest of them. Take your pick out of Gnakpa, Ross and Tade to play wide.

From what I watched today I wouldn't be dropping Ross. He was one of the few who were actually trying.

A bit of a change of tack methinks

No doubt controversial but a defensive side that can turn to attack

I must have missed him trying. As a matter of fact, can anyone confirm he was playing today?

Thought Ross was probably the worst player on the pitch. Here's my take:

Esson

Piermayr - Tokely - Williams - Gillet

Tansey - Jones - Foran

Hayes - Mackay - Sutherland

Contrary to most other people, I thought Tansey stood up to be counted, even though he wasn't playing well. Ross was rubbish, even though I think he's got a lot of talent. Same with Hayes but obviously he has to stay in. Doran would really be my choice for the left-wing but in failing that I'd drop Tade for Sutherland. I think this is our best back four. Gillet's the best player but always looks likes a full-back trying to play central defender. It might be tempting to switch this to 4-4-2 with Hayes on the right, Foran on the left and Mackay/Sutherland up front.

Bit out of touch. Who is/isn't available? I mean, do we still have Golabert? Is he injured? Presuming so.

Going on what I currently know-

- Esson -

- Piermayr - Tokely - Williams - Gillet -

- Tansey - Jones - Ross -

- Hayes - Tade - Foran -

Well something like that anyway. We're missing Andy Shinnie I think. Maybe Morrison deserves a game? I just dont have any faith in Proctor these days. If only we still had Munro to steady the back line. Still think thats Butchers biggest error in charge.

Golobart is still injured but is apparently back in the next few weeks.

That's how I think we'll go. To be honest, I'd prefer we didn't go with Tade wide left, I think he's better through the middle. I think OTJ will start in the middle, although it might be Ross who makes way rather than Tansey, with Ross being relatively lightweight for a middle-three.

Proctor as a wing-back? With what pace? And Hayes is battling in the middle to get the ball out to Proctor? This is worthy of Renegade's selections in the deep past.

Were some people actually watching the game yesterday and Proctor's performance. He steadied the defence in the 2nd half and didn't do a lot wrong. For right back it is either him or Piermyer, rest of the defence as it was yesterday. Tudor Jones has to play, Ross to drop out as too lightweight for thisd type of game and someone up front to play with Mackay who actually knows how to play as a striker, Foran or Wannell?.

big Proc didnt do to bad however his past exsployts dont give him the right to walk straight back in, that is however a good point that i didnt take in to account when doing my bench....

I thought Proc did well too. But he's either a sweeper or a defensive mid. Never a wing back or a central defender.

Go for a Marco Bielsa style all out attack, insane XI

I'd rather have Tokley and Proctor in the team than out at the moment. At least both these blokes play for the shirt and will give 100% over 90 minutes unlike the shirkers yesterday. We have too many fancy imports who don't give a stuff about ICT.

Tade McKay

Settling this team now should be Terry's priority. So, I agree with IHE's post above.

The seemingly constant instability means he must be tearing his hair out and going round in mental circles trying to figure out his best options.

Now that the injury thing seems to have settled down, it also seems as if we have too much talent available and too many bewildering choices with few standouts which would otherwise allow for a no-brainer team selection.

Hopefully things will continue to gel.

Hate to say this, but if some (but not all) of the loanees were recalled to England etc. it might help him.

OH! If only we could get some younger Scottish players in, preferably Highland lads, and had the time to train and develop them.......Sigh.

how many defenders do we have. after last weeks hopeless show we need to be very defensive against probably the spl's quickest counter attacking teams.

we cant score, we cant defend. go for a craig levein formation

Esson and tuffey

Piermayr, Tokely, Williams, G. Shinnie

tudor-jones foran

proctor, tansey , gillett

bench any other defenders we have

i think we should try a different system for this game maybe 4-4-2

I don't think I've ever gone to Tannadice with as little expectation of taking something from Utd as I'm feeling at the moment.

We've lost our last 4 games against them, and they have some serious attacking threats who are on top form at the moment. Utd are on an extremely impressive unbeaten run including a 2-0 win at Ibrox, a 5-1 at Perth, 4-0 v Killie and 2-0 at Hearts.

After the Rangers debacle my confidence is pretty low, but I suppose with ICT anything can happen.

In summary I'd be delighted with a draw.
