Here's an idea - Marcelo Bielsa.  Now before everyone laughs, hear me out!  

 

• Bielsa allegedly is not influenced by the size of clubs, and rather goes to clubs that intrigue him (Merger!).  He turned down Inter Milan for Athletic Bilbao for this very reason.
• Out of a job right now.
• Supposedly, a total hermit, so could move into Terry's old house no problem.
• Plays an all-out-attack Renegade-esque 3-3-1-3 formation!

If you don't ask, you don't get!

I don't have anyone particular in mind.  What's important is for the club to be clear about what they want from a manager.  We have a great team here, many of whom are signed up to at least the end of next season, and which has demonstrated that it is capable of playing a good attacking passing game.  We need that to continue, indeed we need to develop what we've seen this season and be more positive when we are ahead.  We want someone who recognises that attack is the best form of defence and that the opposition is not going to score if you don't give them the ball. 

 

We are not a rich club and never will be.  Managers need to understand that we need to focus on identifying and getting the best out of players who have unrealised potential.  It also means having a strong youth development policy.  There is simply no point getting a big name manager who is used to working with top players who then blames the failure of the team on the Board's refusal to spend big on players.

 

Matching the manager with the strategy may not throw up the obvious candidates.  But the club has come a long way and has a tremendous record of bringing in managers who do better here than they have elsewhere.  Many of these managers have then been tempted by big money at a bigger club with a different philosophy and have failed miserably.

 

 The important thing for us as fans is to get behind the new manager whoever it is.  The Board will be looking long term and it would be surprising if the new manager did not experience some dip from the elevated position we are currently in.  I have confidence in the Board to make a good choice and look forward to the next chapter in the proud history of our club.

FFS. Granted levein was p1sh with Scotland and the 460 formation will take a while to live down. However Levein at club level and especially hearts and dundee united was a success. He is the only manager to take two sides from outside the old firm to consecutive euro campaigns. Levein also took hearts to a memorable victory over Bordeaux. I remember his hearts side being attack minded and good to watch. They beat hibs 5-1 in august 2002. However he has never won a trophy at management level and with the position we are currently in the LC and in the League he may well want to take this opportunity to show his doubters wrong!!

Out of all those mentioned so far Levein has my vote!

Would like to see Kevin Macdonald, definitely not Levein for me... 

The club will get it right as they have the club at heart, they will take there time to make the right appointment. As for Levein he is very good manger who made one mistake and is getting vilified for it. The 4-6-0 is a specialist formation which Barcelona can play because Lionel Messi floats and roams making him not an out and out centre forward. Scotland do not have these players not many countries do so it was a terrible mistake which I am sure he will never try again. Overall he was out of his depth as a national manager but in the club game he has performed very well with Hearts and Dundee United. I would give him a go along with Houston as we are a club that seems to do well with unheralded managers and allow then to show how good they are before moving to bigger challenges. Butcher was given the chance to start again after a miserable record so lets give Levein a chance to start again and he has a better track record than butcher before he took the job. Also Levein has worked with BBC Scotland and sometimes features on Sportscene so I am sure he knows how good this squad is and how we play.     

I see plenty of potential managers listed, and with the exception of one or two who I dont want within 500 miles of my club, I could live with the others ....

 

I will trust the board, and Kenny Cameron to navigate these treacherous waters and make a decision on who they think can best continue the work started by TB/MM and push us onwards and upwards .....  their track record (Brewster 2nd time around excepted) is pretty good at landing decent managers, its keeping hold of them when they do well that we struggle with !

We will always struggle to keep successful managers but if we can get two or three years of continuing and, hopefully, increasing success from the next incumbent that will be a successful appointment

I still don't get the antipathy towards Calderwood. Dunfermline into Europe. Aberdeen a relegation side before and after he left but top six with some Euro success in between. From what I understand, did well in Holland too. Proven manager with a strong track record. Ideal.

I'm with you on this one, proven track record in Scotland and wealth of contacts throughout Europe, Worked wonders on minimal budgets at both Dunfermline and Aberdeen.

He'll be able to get Jimmy Nick back with him as well as I'm sure he'll be leaving Hibs now that Dumb has taken Dumber along with him.

Henrik Larsson was in town this week and is believed to be keen on job. Another name I like is Eric Black.

Better correct myself there, not saying Larsson is better than Levein not having much experience etc but Larsson with potential fills me with more confidence!
