I am fairly certain that most fans/posters on here know that at the end of this season there is likely to be a mass exodus of players leaving so my simple question is, would you rather we replaced them with experienced players or youngsters because I am clearly in the youngsters camp but would also believe that we may need some experienced players no matter what league we're in but especially if we're in league 1 which is the worst case scenario but also the most likely unless we can win our 6 pointers against Arbroath, Queens Park and Dunfermline 🤔.

I don't know who's here for next season but I would imagine that the key ones to retain if at all possible are Billy McKay and Mark Ridgers : ictscarf:

Which one?

The Club should announce it soon as he is eligible to play for them this weekend.

Thems was the days! Absolute joy to watch Pele’s teams, go 3 down and still believe you could win…

0-3 down against Ayr at half-time, coming back to win it 4-3 with 4 goals in 18 second half minutes from 4 different scorers (2000-01 season). Or that 7-3 game against them (same season) with the score going 1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 2-2, 3-2, (HT), 3-3, 4-3, 5-3, 6-3, 7-3

And who can forget when we gave Airdrie a 6 goal head start and then, oh wait, no. 😬

I can't - arrived overnight from Canada, met at the airport by IntertheNet, driven to the game, a zombie through most of it (thankfully) then up the road on the supporter's bus!

Another player goes out on loan. Wonder when the Club will announce it?

Jack Walker to Nairn I hear.

In fairness it gives him and Sam Nixon guaranteed game time rather than just filling our bench.

I’m surprised to hear this. Jack has always been a stand out performer when I’ve seen him. I wish him all the best at Nairn

Did he want to go…… or was it a case of room having to be made????? He did not look out of place in the team in pre season matches.

He’s definitely a great prospect but, at his age, getting game time is important. He’ll be training with us and playing every week, rather than being on the bench or not even making the squad.

For me, it’s a good move now we’ve a larger squad as he and Nixon will benefit from regular competitive game time and hopefully it helps them both become future first team regulars for us.

I may be wrong but I fear Scott Brown may have ambushed our attempts to bring in Alfie Bavidge. There was always a risk being so open about him in the press that a Championship side would cut our feet. I hope I'm wrong....

Reminder that transfer deadline is 11pm tonight. I remember the days when the last few hours of the window would be exciting for us!

Does that apply to loan deals too?

That’s only good if those coming in to fill the same position are any better. If last season is anything to go by, then there is a lot better quality needed. At least with Jack & Sam, you are getting energy and commitment.  Best of luck to them on loan.

P&J reporting that we are trying to get Alfie Bavidge on loan from Aberdeen. Striker, Martin’s son, was loaned to Kelty last season.

It actually says we're "closing in" on the loan signing 🤔.

I hope so because sometimes someone else steps in and gazumps us if our plans are posted in the P&J before the loose ends are tied up.

What did I say?

Scott Burns saying Bavidge going to Ayr. Aberdeen want him to play at Championship level, which is understandable.

James Nolan sounds like an interesting signing but so much for focusing on our promising youth players. Ferguson keeps highlighting that we are a young squad but he brings an 18 and 19 year old in?? I’ve lost all hope that we will get a striker.

Only 4 hrs ahead of the Record and Scott Burns. Slipping up in my old age 🤣

I note Luke Nolan hails from Chorley. Johndo would be delighted no doubt.

With this Nolan bloke being able to play in Midfield or on the wing, I wonder if that means Billy McKay will play in his more natural position of Striker hence why we didn't sign one 🤷.  Though I think the Loan window is still open for a wee while yet so we may still see one coming in but tbh I don't think we need one now providing Billy does play up front!

He would probably wonder aloud if he had any sisters, then record a Tik-Tok singing "I'm in the mood for dancing" before starting a conga at the next game!

No strikers signed then. Let's hope with all those midfielders Billy can play further up the park and take advantage of some forward passing moves. Ethan Cairns still not fit for a while yet? I still think Wallace Duffy could play up front.
