Graham Poll??

Possibly the worst ref ever????

Featured Replies

Ive never seen a player get three yellows before!  :015:

He didn't look too clever but I've got to say having watched most of the game it was a pretty tough one to handle.

Something tells me he won't be the ref for the final  :015:

What a tube. He's supposedly the best referee in Britain according to FIFA:010: What would have happened if Croatia had scored with Simunic still on the pitch.

I've always thought he was rubbish but even Calum Murray ain't that bad

I always think Poll wants to be the show.

      You don't notice good refs.

What you mean you never notice good refs Clicky  :015: :015: :015:

I really wanted Croatia to score at the end just to see what would've happened. Would they have had to replay???

To be fair to Poll I thought he had a fairly decent game. There was lots going on, and he got most of it right. Saying that, booking a player 3 times takes some beating :015: :015: :015:

Fantastic game though, what a chaotic ending.

Poll is an indiot.

Viduka was assaulted in the box and he missed a blatant Croatian hand ball in the box.

But..we got the right result.

Not that I'm biased of course  :004:

Not the first englishman to go home early, won't be the last  :001:

in RIGs bbc clicky poll says that he incorrectly noted down craig moores name for simunics first yellow!  would have been the icing on the cake if moore had got sent off for one yellow card.. :017:

trigger happy idiots

totally ruined what was a good game, some of the bookings were ultra soft, but if he has been given instructions to stamp out certain things, then the players will have to learn to toe the line. There is so much at stake these days, players will do anything to prevent the opposition from scoring.

Interesting to read that Poll has retired from International games!  :015:

He said he feels it is right to give another English ref a chance.

He is another of those arrogant self loving refs who think the crowd has turned up to watch him. Along the lines of Frisk. Good rid. to him.

Now if we can only get Calum Murray, Iain Brines, Dougie MacDonald and co. onto the International scene! Highlight their mistakes and make them retire, completely!

With all due respect, many of you will be aware that at the grass roots there is a shortage of referees and this threatens games being played. There have been other referees who have booked players twice and not sent them off. The problem here was it was in front of the world's TV and Press. How do you respond when you are criticised for making a mistake at work?

Guys like Callum Murray and Dougie McDonald work very hard on improving their game. Referees are part of the game and players have to adapt to them. What is surprising about the second booking is that neither Assistant Referee picked it up nor the fourth official. It was a team failure because a referee can only control so much. Players have become so skilful at diving, tripping over trailing feet, running into players and generally making a referees life absolute **** in front of the baying masses.
