Elgin @ Hertz

An Elgin supporting mate of mine tells me Ian Black got dogs abuse off the City travelling support at Tynecastle tonight when subbed. It seems that his ICT connections didn't go down well with the black and white masses (sic).

I find it quaint that this lot still consider us rivals. Having said that I would LOVE to draw them in a meaningful cup tie at Borough Briggs. Would be a massive old school day out for sure.

I guess the youngsters will find this odd but Caley-Elgin was THE game of the season back in the day. Not sure if the Jags - Elgin rivalry was as intense but the farmers hated us with a passion.

One day......

I was at the game - thought I'd go along it was only a tenner to get in. The only cash gate was for the away end so I was in the with Elgin fans. Blackie didn't get dogs abuse as such but when he got subbed someone shouted 'Caley *******' at him and all their fans started singing 'if you hate the ******* Caley clap your hands' They sung it a few more times during the game, it was probably the song sung with most gusto. Bless.

I keep forgetting that Elgin are even in the league. It's only when I check out who the team bottom of SFL3 is that I remember they are no longer in the Highland League.

Elgin & Bottom seems to go well together eh?

and its true, Hellgin were the big HL rivals to the Inverness teams, no doubt Mr mortalender will come forth with some violent stories from days of old.

They have funny accents, the Elgin fans. I couldn't understand what they were singing half the time.

Oh Im sure lots of folk have lots of old Elgin stories. I was on the bus the day the back window got smashed in and have also been on buses that had police escorts out of Elgin. Seems funny to see where we are today and where they are today. Not sure if them entering the sfl was for the best really.

Gosh... I hope in that case that the Elgin fans are being civil enough to their new player assistant manager who has rather more formidable ICT credentials than even Ian Black has.

I wonder how many of them still remember Johndo?

Johndo? Assistant Player Manager at Elgin? Talk about kicking a team when they are down!
