I am surprised nobody has commented on remarks made this week by Perer Lawwell, the Chief Executive of Septic FC. He was speaking about a meeting of the 10 non old filth clubs which discussed proposals to change the SPL voting system which currently requires a 11 - 1 majority to make changes. Mr Lawwell said that meeting without representatives of Septic and HMRC FC was "disrespectful".

Doesn't this just sum up what is wrong with scottish football? I would have thought people are at liberty to discuss what they want with whoever they want but Lawwell apparently disagrees. Instead, he seems to think it is perfectly reasonable that if every other SPL team agrees on an issue but Septic and their friends in blue disagree, the overwhelming majority viewpoint is simply ignored and the interests of the ugly sisters holds sway. Now that is disrespectful.

Mr Lawwell seems to know as much about the meaning of respect as Craig Whyte knows about the ethics of running a football club.

No mention of the countless private meetings between Rangers and Celtic over the years...and more recently as he approached the administrators to ask for their support in blocking the move.

Sadly, from what I understand, it would need a 11-1 majority to have the voting structure changed. The only real hope is that someone can find a loophole/clause which says Rangers have no right to a vote whilst they are in administration and it can be pushed through on the back of that asap.

Ironic isn't it, when Celtic say they gang of 10 are showing disrepect for Scottish Football when they have been trying thier best to join English league. The gang of 10 need to stay strong, if they don't win now they will never win.

The big problem with both halves of the OF is that their heads are so far up their proverbial they actually believe all they say.

Was just reading about this on BBC. How can a club in administration be still allowed a voting right on the future of Scottish Football, why is it acceptable for them to be in charge of the destiny of others when they cant even control their own currently? Screams of SPL, SFA & OF all sticking together for their own vested interest.

It is possible that Whyte may perfer to see the club die than sell it on, really hope for the rest of Scottish football this is the casse, if not there is no way the 11-1 voting stucture will be overturned and the OF will always have everyone else under their control.

Another option is if the 10 all resigned from the SPL, that would then leave the OF a choice - either agree to the new rules and join or pi$$ off to England/Ireland or wherever they think they deserve to play? Can or would that work - or does the 11-1 vote have to be envoked to allow the clubs to leave the current structure?

The current situation is the best chance the other clubs may ever have to revolutionise the system.

Better hurry up as HMRC may become NEWco before the season end. I understand why the old firm feel they are worth the lions share of tv revenue, but they already get to keep their own home gate income. Nothing wrong with that, as they encourage the bigger support, but surely they can see its for the good of the whole of scottish football. even if they did evenly share the prize monies, their home gate income is so far ahead of everyone else that it would have little impact on the top 2 each year. However the feed down the system would be invaluable to clubs and the future of our countries football. Out of both old firm squads ( Rangers 25 and Celtics 95 ) i wonder how many are Scottish, and is that a direct result of the lower rungs of clubs being starved of money to have a good youth system??

Out of interest..could the impoverished 10 set up their own rival SDFL (Scottish Democratic Football League) and just leave the big 2 to play each other every week for the rest of their existence. Even the TV companies would get fed up with that as an option.

I'd idealy see the ten teams re-join the SFL. 16 team Division 1, 16 team Division 2, 16 team Division 3 then a Highland League and Lowland League below with a pyramid system for entry to Division 3. This would mean we would need 8 more teams to join Division 3. 4 from the HL and 4 from the Lowland junior leagues to join Division 3. Rangers and Celtic can apply to join straight to Division 1 with the former SPL teams, but they have to sign up to the new league rules which means all potential sponsor and TV revenue must be split between Division 1 teams evenly. Also, no matter what league your in, terracing is allowed. No silly stadia rules that will get teams into debt building them.

Far too sensible a suggestion for it ever to happen CC.

Seems to be a strong sense among "The Ten" that Rangers are all but in a position whereby they will have to go into liquidation.

If that happens then Rangers would no longer be a member of the SPL and the OF lose their stranglehold in regards to the voting situation, leaving the path open for it to be changed to a more democratic system.

Rangers will have no European football next season as they missed the 31st March deadline for exiting administration...so there's little to be gained other than continuity of history from them pursuing an exit via CVA.
