August 29, 201212 yr Author Not any more, Dundee drawing 1-1 with QP, Dundee McGregor sent off, and St Mirren 2-0 up on Ayr.
August 29, 201212 yr Author RossP @RossP_ICT from twitter Double save from Bullock; deflecting shots from Sutherland and McKay. A Shinnie clears the bar with a left foot effort shortly after Arbroath freekick well worked to the wing; cross cleared from 6 yard line #letoff Warren header from corner cleared off the line . St Mirren now 3-0
August 29, 201212 yr Author More from RossP @ Gayfield Half Time Bullock save again! This time from Andy Shinnie 20 drive at the bottom corner. Some confident, inpressive short passing prior to the shot Arbroath flash the ball across the 6 yard line... no takers. Meekings booked for a nothing challenge. He probably deserved a yellow for a challenge in the first few minutes though... Bullock with another excellent double save from Doran and Sutherland this time! 2 Arbroath players are now in the book after challenges on Sutherland and Doran when we were breaking away in numbers Arbroath waste a good break away by delaying the shot too long; great block by G Shinnie to prevent Esson having to make a save Half Time scores St Mirren 4-1 Ayr Queens Park 1-1 Dundee Arbroath 0-1 Inverness quote of the night from RossP............Sutherland donates a ball to Montrose with a wild high volley Edited August 29, 201212 yr by tm4tj
August 29, 201212 yr Author More from RossP @ Gayfield Arbroath seem to be exploiting G Shinnie's lack of height with high balls to him leading to two good chances for the smokies (latest tweet) Danger signs for Inverness...........Darren Gribben fires over from 14 yards after a fine Arbroath move. still 1-0 Inverness Should be 1-1. Arbroath striker flashes a shot way over from a clear sight of goal at the corner of the box. Raven comes on for...King (slight injury?). Meekings goes to CB. Just before the sub, doran had a 25 y strike go just wide I'd guess around 50-75 ICT fans here. Difficult to tell as their all dotted around the stadium....672 = tonight's attendance G Shinnie skims the top of the bar with a shot from inside the box Another Arbroath yellow, that's the majority of the defence booked now. OTJ takes the free kick & it's a crap cross; he should be in box no? Half Time St Mirren 5-1 Ayr
August 29, 201212 yr Author Latest tweet 2-0!! Sutherland tackles Sheerin in the middle of the pitch, then releases A SHINNIE who blasts the ball in off the underside of the bar Looks like Banjo is coming on for Arbroath. I'm looking around for a coo's arse. Doran gets taken down in the box, so it has to be a penalty or a booking for diving. The ref gives a goal kick. (Oldest tweet) Queens Park 2-1 Dundee Edited August 29, 201212 yr by tm4tj
August 29, 201212 yr Author Musical substitution for Arbroath...........Michael Travis leaves the field to be replaced by David Banjo. RossP @RossP_ICT Looks like Sutherland is leading the line now I think, with Pepper on the right Pepper on for McKay A Shinnie again with a thunderbolt saved by Bullock . Sutherland almost got the ball out from under his feet to tap in. Only a great last ditch block stopped Shinnie from getting his hat-trick there. Great play from Doran and McKay in the build up
August 29, 201212 yr Author Thanks to RossP for providing the updates live on twitter from Gayfield Players of the night for me were A Shinnie , Doran and Draper . FT 2-0 Morrison on A Shinnie off Full Times Arbroath 0-2 Inverness St Mrren 5-1 Ayr Queens Park 2-1 Dundee (at least they got to Hampden)
August 29, 201212 yr Author A great result for us tonight considering the shambles we were at the weekend. Well done to all concerned for bouncing back in a very positive manner.
August 29, 201212 yr Is it true we can't face an SPL team in the next round? yep very true we are now seeded8th
August 29, 201212 yr I just hope that we don't end up with Sevco, not because I am scared of losing to them (it could be close). I just don't want gargoyles in our stadium
August 29, 201212 yr beautiful crisp inteligent play, i only saw the 2nd half but it was a joy to watch,
August 29, 201212 yr So glad to tune in as the Real Madrid v Barca match is so feckin boring. What did we line up as ?
August 29, 201212 yr After watching us against Celtic, I would consider this as a much more solid performance. We passed the ball around pretty good but remember the opposition.
August 29, 201212 yr A great result for us tonight considering the shambles we were at the weekend. Well done to all concerned for bouncing back in a very positive manner. Yes thanks for keeping us updated, Glad you are all going home happy. Roll on the next match and lets hope we get radio commentry at this one. nice to be seeded too
August 29, 201212 yr From the sounds of it every time the words "andrew shinnie" are uttered there should be a halelujah.
August 29, 201212 yr Congratulations to Butcher to picking a full strength side. This will allow further progress in the cup and ensure the players who will start against Motherwell go into the game with a bit more confidence.
August 29, 201212 yr usualback 4 except meekings at rb, king off raven on rb, meekings to centre defence, otj and draper in front, doran and sutherland on wings shinnie behind mckay, we simly controled the game if we didnt cut them right through the centre then crisp passing found doran t rocket or skin them sutherland on the wings also good to see that we didnt try and kill the game at 2-0 up and kept going for the jugular, except for et where we just settled for keeping the ball with crisp passing between players.
August 29, 201212 yr We played really well tonight and the result was never in doubt. Could have scored half a dozen if we'd been a bit more clinical, and to be fair Tony Bullock made some good saves. Our midfield was excellent, and as a result the defence and keeper had a comfortable night. Arbroath were restricted to blazing shots and free kicks over the bar from 20 yards.
