The Stirling Albion Pre Match Thread

Who is travelling down for the New City derby on Saturday then?

I'll be popping along and looking forward to it. Never been to Forthbank before so it will be a first for me to take in a game there.

Stirling have been on a good run but have faltered of late picking up one point in their last 2 games against lower league opponents Alloa and Stranraer.

Hopefully we can come through this one unscathed but our Away form is poor and as ICT know only too well anything can happen in a TSC game. We need only remind ourselves of Partick who were at a very similar stage to Stirling last season who dumped us out on penalties.

Same team as St. Mirren for me but hopefully a bit more clinical with some of the chances we might create.

Oh yeah, party at Chibbers!  :015:

I dont see what everyone's getting excited about, this will be a walk in the park and a welcome break from the pressure of the SPL, cant begin to think we might not win this one.

do u know, thats amazing, i have it on good authority that those were john barnes exact words :004:

Unless we sign a striker before this game then I think we will be struggling. We only have one fit striker at the moment after Dene Shields returned to Gretna and Ian Cashmore is out injured.

Smiths resteraunt for a drink is about 10-15 mins away from the ground. Closest pub is the resteraunt next Forthbank that has a pub area.

Should be a good game none the less and hopefully you guys can bring a good support down with you. :001:

If you are looking for a match report on Saturday, then check out www.stirlingalbion.com and there is a forum there as well. :022:

I've had a word with the owner of Smith's bar (closest pub to the stadium) and they are happy to have us in for a few bevvies, only a walk away from forthbank

Soo-pah. What about wearing team colours/kids etc?

Yeh feck knows what's happening, anyway it is in the industrial estate opposite the renault garage, I think... you can't really miss it, it's the only pub in a 2 mile radius

Dont need any thrills a scrappy 1-0 win would be good, 3 wins in 4 matches would be a good return after the previous batch of matches pre Rangers.

Cheers guys, should be at least me and one other going.

Sorry guys, but to say Smiths is the only pub in a two mile radius is wrong. There is the Halfway House that is closer and like I mentioned above the resteraunt across from the stadium that most away/and some home fans drink at.

Additional Directions to Forthbank

Looking forward to this one now. :021:

Personally, I think CC should rotate the squad a bit and give a few of the players such as Bayne a rest from their recent hectic festive fixtures.

Personally i wouldnt go to smiths, its a bit out the way and also an ex county managers connection.  Nothing against the pub but think a booze up in town then taxi out is the best solution.

I presume the Halfway would be packed with binos.

There a range of pubs in town, as H.C said O'neils, good pub, 1 min walk from train station, Sportsters, plenty of screens, Varsity, cheap food and drink if u buy a card for 2 quid and plenty seats and screens.

Not 100% on what these pubs policy is on kids getting in though

It's also what pubs will stand for team colours, most pubs in Stirling have quite a strict policy...

HC If you have spoken to smiths and they are happy to have us then that sounds pretty cool.  Quite like the restuarant idea, but probably no colours allowed.  Is there a Happy Horse type place about there?

Not a Happy Horse but I think it might be a Hungry Horse, I was close.

Talking of that game in the eighties has any manager been sacked more times than Alex Smith? I think Stirling Albion was the last one he left of his own accord and yet doubtless there will be folk punting for the Hun Job to "steady the ship."

He totally debased and ridiculed himself when he chose to go to Dungwall. The man has no feckin self respect. Still, give him his due, he fair fecked them up.  :015: :015: :015:
