Club goalscoring milestone & trivia question!

It's quite well known that fittingly, (captain at the time) Grant Munro scored our 1,000th ever goal.

The next 'milestone' goal would have to be 1,500, but interestingly, our next goal will be our 1,400th.

It wasn't reported at the time, to my knowledge, who notched our 500th goal - or maybe I've just forgotten!

However, I've now got the answer!

Anybody wish to have a guess....?

Was it Lionel Djebi-Zadi, with one of his trademark bicycle kicks from 55 yards?

Vetle Anderson?

Who scored our first ever goal to add to that list?

Davide Xausa scored Inverness's 500th ever goal.

When exactly was it?

Exactly between the 499th goal and the 501st goal, if I remember correctly.

499 was scored by Alex Bone (O.G) and 501 by Les Fridge.  I think.

Yeah, that was our first ever league goal, but we'd played our first ever game a few days earlier away to East Stirlingshire in the 1st Round of the League Cup, winning 2-0 with Wilson Robertson getting the opener!

Ah, those were the days...

How do we know any of this is true. You could have made it all up.

Simples! Just go back through the records and count em!

That's actually what I did! Not as painstaking a task as it may at first appear. Final league tables give the total goals scored, so that's easy to add up - it's the cups where errors could creep in - e.g. Soccerbase haven't got some of our early Challenge Cup games listed. But, I'm fairly sure it's correct....

That's us on 1,400 goals now!
