Summer transfer targets

Having just read that Hearts have got rid of Jamie Hamill, Ryan Stevenson and Jamie McDonald, does anyone think any of these three would be a good addition to the squad? I think Stevenson would be good. I would defiantly go for McDonald if we didn't already have Brill.

Adams is looking to buy him at a knock down price

  • We're actually in a fairly fortunate position as we have a squad that is performing and, whilst small in numbers, has enough depth to offer cover and options all over the park.  i.e. There's no dead w

What made you think "MAHNIOOOOOO" is a person?  Could be a chimpanzee mating call for all we know! 1eye.gif

It's got an Italian ring to it though...

Oh my...

Getting back on topic..........

I wonder to what extent ICT were waiting to see if we would be getting the £100k Champions League windfall to determine how much we can afford to increase the wage bill by?

Celtic's failure is a severe financial blow to the smaller clubs like ours.

I would have thought there's a good chance our cup game at ibrox may be televised meaning that we may be due some cash from that.....possibly

I was under the impression that Yogi wanted to see the trialists in action before making a decision, sounds like a bounce game last night featured one or both of the trialists so a decision may be on the way on what's happening

With Champions League matches on that week the match can't be televised in any UEFA member country.

Didnt realise that

Oh my...

This escalated quite quickly haha

HGN-News twitter says that "Hughes contemplated a loan bid for a Scotland call up star" so surely that would be McGregor or Kevin McDonald?

It would have been Callum MacGregor before he went to Notts County. I'm not so sure how he would have fitted in because Him and Marley are quite similar.

It was McGregor.

Does look like the same guy.

Bradford v Leeds on live sky sports1 tonight, also Arsnal v Besiktas on sky 5 tv !

On that basis, it appears I may have been fed duff info....will look into it tomorrow if I get a chance.

Marlon Jackson is in the sort of market that we usually go for so who knows, could be the next Billy McKay

It would certainly be good to get some competition for MCkAY

4 days left until window closed and still nothing which is worrying me.

Surely the 2 trialists played midweek so a decision could be looming but tbh, I would prefer a loan signing, someone like Atajic.

We can sign free agents after the window is closed.

Latest update from the IC is that one of the trialists has been let go without being offered a deal, we still have one on trial who scored a hat-trick in a bounce game (probably the one against Inverness city) during the week.

Yogi went to the chairman last week with a name of a player who he'd like to sign in the hope of twisting his arm to offer a deal but there was no information on whether that was the current trialist or a.n.other and there was no info on whether this was likely or not.

Yogi still hope to take in one or two trialists next week hence him letting one of the trialists go this week. It sounds like he hopes to add one player before the transfer window closes but that would suggest to me he maybe has plans to add one more seeing as he still wants 1 or 2 more trialists next week

will post the link when it becomes available

There was suggestions on Twitter that Alex Nimley was training with Preston also so maybe it was the Nigerian boy that scored the hat trick vs Inverness City.

I wonder if a loan deal is still possible but maybe not hence why we are looking at trialists.

I had seen the thing about Preston but it seems like he may have been with PNE before he came up here (if indeed it is Nimely thats here)

For what its worth if it is Nimely who is on trial then I think we would have a great prospect if we managed to sign him. His highlights video shows some real attacking skill, pace and the the ability to glide past players. A bit raw with his finishing but that could be honed

I thought for a while that Yogi was maybe waiting till nearer the close of the window to see what loans were available but this latest article seems to suggest that he's after permanent signings. He doesnt appear to be afraid to wait until after the window closes to sign an unattached player either

JOHN Hughes remains hopeful of adding to his squad before the closure of the transfer window.

One of the strikers that was previously on trial with the club has departed and the Caley Thistle manager is still in the market for a first-team player.

The remaining trialist notched a hat-trick in a midweek bounce game with Inverness City, in which Danny Devine also made his comeback from injury.

Free agents can still be signed outside the transfer window but any players currently with a club must be signed before 11pm on 1st September.

Hughes said he may cut his losses on the remaining trialist at the club in order to look at a couple of others.

"The problem we have is that I still have one or two trialists lined up and I think it’s worth the gamble with losing this one to have a look at one or two next week," he said. "Hopefully before the window closes we’ll have another one added to the squad."

A name was put to chairman Kenny Cameron by Hughes last week of a striker he would like to bring in, with the Inverness manager admitting he would have to "twist the chairman’s arm" about it.

"Ever since that, the chairman’s been hiding from me and never mentioned him again," he said. "I think he’s probably seen his CV and the clubs he’s been at and worked out the figures it might cost him.

"I just want to bring good players to the club but I’ve never been a chequebook manager. I would never hold the club to ransom."
