  1. Good news Grant, I've been offered the County job!

  2. My worry would be that some potentially good local/Scottish players are not getting the chance with instead, mediocre foreigners are taking their places.

  4. At first I was afraid, I was petrified Kept thinkin' I could never live without you by my side But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong And I grew strong And I learned how to get along And so you're back from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed that stupid lock I should have made you leave your key If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me Go on now, go walk out the door Just turn around now 'Cause you're not welcome anymore Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye Did you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die Oh no not I, I will survive Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live And I've got all my love to give And I'll survive I will survive Hey, hey It took all the strength I had not to fall apart Kept tryin' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart And I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself I used to cry, but now I hold my head up high And you see me, somebody new I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you And so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free But now I'm savin' all my lovin' for someone who's lovin' me Go on now, go walk out the door Just turn around now 'Cause you're not welcome anymore Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye Did you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die Oh no not I, I will survive Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live I've got all my love to give And I'll survive I will survive Oh Go on now, go walk out the door Just turn around now 'Cause you're not welcome anymore Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye Did you think I'd crumble Did you think I'd lay down and die Oh no not I, I will survive Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live I've got all my love to give And I'll survive I will survive I will survive

  7. So a few Rangers fans are going to affect Vauxhall, Tesco, Mars, Carling, MacDonalds, Bank of Scotland and Willie Hills. Thats them screwd for their staple diet then.

  8. I overreacted a little bit with my original response to this. Apologies folks. Having local lads and more scottish players in the team would be a good thing but i think the problem we have had is selling ourselves as a club to other Scottish players. Its a problem with other SPL sides. Young Scottish talent is being consistently cherry picked by bigger teams down south and any player that has major ambitions will eventually get tempted down there simply because its better. Many players from abroad tend to come here with a desire to eventually make the move down south as well but having them in your side even for a brief amount of time can help with the quality some can bring. We've had to do more buisness down South mainly because its more financially benefitial, Terry said before that he had tryed to sign players within Scotland in the summer but was being consistently outpriced by them. It leaves him with no other alternative really, we could pay that little bit more to get them and risk going into debt. or we could take more of a gamble with lads from Down South and stay solvent. Both have pros and cons. With regards to local talent i dont think we are really any different than any other side outwith the Old Firm. Sutherland, Ross, Shinnie and Morrison have all shown at times they are very capable players. But i do agree with folks saying they deserve more of a run in the team.

  11. Good.a lesson learned, then! Nope......just a lot of boredom living somewhere where it's so quiet, the only time you know its not Sunday is when the Archers Omnibus doesn't come on the radio.. Have to say, there was a lot more irritation (I don't really do anger unless I am three sheets to the wind..and I try not to post smashed, because then I can't spell. ) after your "brief therapeutic intervention" than before. On the rare occasions I do angry, I just abuse the dog verbally. He now thinks his first name starts with an F and ends in off. I do realise what forums are about...but I kinda thought this forum would be a break from the polarised opinions to the level of complete irrationality on political forums, and the pink and fluffy stuff on Silver Surfer forums. Pink and fluffy this place doesn't do...but pretty polarised it can, though not to the complete irrationality level.......and, as I have only two subjects on which I have a view which is totally and unashamedly one-sided......and football isn't one of them.so on the rare times I post, .I do try to insert an element of even-handedness in posts I perceive as polarised (or verging on it). Tbh....... I kinda like heated debates...just not pointless ones...and I think this is one of those. I drink OVD and coke for preference (but can do voddie and fresh orange if I must)..take a note in case I ever get down the road when ICT are at home, I don't have to be somewhere else early doors and can invade the local meeting pub (if I can find it). I always buy my own round as well! I think Dougal is a glass 1/8th full of nothing he likes kind of person, while I am more of a glass 1/8th full of stuff I like but 7/8th empty otherwise type....so I think a Dougal/Oddquine ganging up at any time is not on the cards. (Does Dougal know he is called after my dog?) Have to say I'm quite gratified that I scare the crap out of anybody....because in my real life even my dog is bigger than me, which is why I do verbal abuse rather than physical in controlling him....and my kids and grandkids do a lot of when I open my mouth!

  13. And had we a team of Scottish players and churned out the season we just have then we'd have folks on ranting that we were insular and should be looking beyond Scotland to sign players...in fact, I'm pretty sure the later is a point that came up for discussion on here a few years back.

  14. Dearest Charles, For a supposedly impartial journalist your somewhat jaundiced view of Caley's undoubted pre-eminence in the Highland League is rather disappointing. If we take the period 1980 to 1994 (fourteen season) we can see the reality of who was top dog in HL circles in technicolor detail: Caley: 4 titles, 7 times runners-up, finished higher than Thistle 11 times, finished higher than County 11 times Thistle: 1 title, nil runners-up, finished higher than Caley 3 times, finished higher than County 8 times County: 2 titles, nil runners-up, finsihed higher than Caley 3 times, finished higher than Thistle 6 times. The statistics speak for themselves; Caley were ALWAYS the dominant force, the Jags were also rans and apart from their back-to-back titles County were a flash-in-the-pan irrelevance. For me Caley's bitter rivals were Elgin - end of story. Peterhed and Buckie had their moments but there was very little hostility towards the Jags because they weren't really in our league. Having said all that I loved our trips to Kingsmills - great days.

  15. Could someone please organize for IMH to meet up with Oddquine for a few pints at the Innes asap. There seems to be a definite attraction between the two. They also seem to almost deserve each other in a weird sort of way. Could someone also video the event and post it on here for posterity. Thanks in anticipation.

  16. Putting aside this whole 'professional' thing. Yet again the whole support issuse raises it's head. I made a post several months ago almost identical to the one I'm about to make but here goes again. I don't understand why some people get lambasted and told they are not supporting the team for voicing their unhappiness in certain aspects of this season. If people are unhappy then surley venting their opinions and issues on an internet forum if perfectly appropriate. These same people can then still go to the games and wholeheartedly support the team. I have been unhappy with many aspects of this season and yet my wife and I still make all the home games some away games, clap, (sometimes) sing and do our best to get behind the team. If I dare to criticise TB or his decisions on a website am I not supporting the team? In a nutshell I find it rather arrogant to say that some people do not support the team if all they are doing is voicing their opinions. I mean look at how many people walked out after the second Aberdeen goal went in, are all thise people only proclaiming to be supporters? The missus and I support one another but we don't always agree!

  17. It crossed my mind early in the second half on Saturday that there were no Scottish players in the starting 11 and I opened up my piece in the P&J with this nugget of information. It is quite remarkable and would have been hard to imagine not that long ago. Doing what I do with the P&J, occasionally people will come up to me with suggestions regarding what I should write about. One recent matter that was raised with me is that ICT have been spending less at the U19 level on players from outwith the Inverness area who need accommodation in Inverness paid for during the season. If this is true then we can expect less and less young players (who are more than likely to be Scottish) coming through to the first team squad. That's a worry. Yes, we would like to see more Scottish players and local ones would be better still. It's got to be more meaningful watching a team where some of the players went to school with you or lived around the corner from you. At the SPL level I think you will need some imported players but wherever the team comes from we need players the fans can connect with. Lots of short term loans ar eunlikely to achieve that.

  18. not sure what you find so funny, it is a fact the club was built upon players like that, I believe Butcher has set the club back years with his strategy so guess we will just have to agree to disagree. What I find funny is people that have been bought in by Butchers charisma while ignoring the shocking football he adopts

  20. No sorry dont buy this! He is ICT manager and its his job to turn up as it was ICT v Ross County in the first half. He would not have got booed and I doubt he would even have got much stick. He could have watched from the hospitality area if he wanted. He missed some good performances from the younger players by not being there. BTW in not giving Russell and Grant new contracts Terry Butcher was just doing what he felt was right at the time ie his job. and although I dodnt agree with him I respect his right to make it.I think the damned if he did option was the one he should have taken in many fans eyes.

  21. Not at all. Terry Butcher is the face of this club and should have been there. Even if someone had asked him why he was there all he would have had to say was "I'm here to represent this club, to watch some of the young boys for next season and to see some of next season's opposition as well". But of course, no-one would've batted an eyelid. Heck, even Brewster turned out for the legends team in Roy McBain's game!

  22. Dunno about that DD. Personally I feel that as ICT manager he should have been there regardless. It would have made him look like a bigger person.I think probably all should have moved on.

  23. Granty and Russell already knew what Butcher thinks of them but not turning out just proves he is just a big English barsteward without any respect for anyone other than his own little jabbies :werenotworthy: Thanks for all you did to make this club what it was before he got rid of you - shame on him
