  1. Whoever YOU think of as a legend is undoubtedly one ... and we will all have our own ideas as to who fits in that category. For me, the true club legends are Tokely and Christie .... guys who ate, slept and breathed ICT for more than a decade each !!! Other players like Mann, Wilson, Stewart, Calder, Teasdale, and even Black may be called or viewed as legends, (even by me), but the more people you give that title to, the less relevant it becomes. "Hall of Fame" is a better idea as far as I am concerned .... HoF Member would be a way to recognise players who have been "extremely important" to the development and progress of ICT, but to reserve the title of 'legend' to those who are 'in with the bricks' as it were.

  2. A great performance from ICT. We started in a composed organised manner, solid at the back and moving the ball well through the team. We played at aslower pace than usual for this season, often moving the ball from defence. After the shambles of last weekends game, the same back four were balanced and organised. When we went forward we passed well, moving the ball out wide and through the midfield. We didn't manage to create any real clear cut chances and at times fell backdeep to defend but we limited Celtic to a few long range shot and crosses. Celtic stepped up the pace before half tme and Lustig had the best chance but he stuck it into the side netting. My brother said that he thought Butcher told the team at half time that Cetic were there for the taking and we presseda bit more after half time. Aaron Doran drove forward well when he was in possession and Shinnie was carrying the ball well. We started to get the ball into dangerous areas more often and forced a couple of corners, one clearence from Ambrose nearly ended up in his own net. When the goal came, it wasn't undeserved. Phlip Roberts, anonymous most of the game, picked up on the right, cut inside and laid up for Billy McKay to tap it home. We almost scored a fantastic second just after this, when Shinnie and McKay exchanged passes and Tudor-Jones broke into the area but his flick was blocked. Celtic stepped up the pace and, as you'd expect, forced us back. They had most of the ball, helped by Scott Brown coming on, but we were equal to most efforts. There were a couple of scrambled efforts, I think one hit he post, although it's difficult to see from the other end of the ground. We had a couple of breaks, including one that should have seen us wrap the match up in the last five minutes. We pushed out of defence, Doran attacked the heart of the Celtic defence very directly and made a perfectly timed pass to McKay. His shot beat Forster but rebounded from the underside of the bar to Doran, who took an age to get his shot away, giving Ambrose time to get back for the block. All told, a great win. Really important to come back strongly after the horrorshow of last Sunday and it was good to see that we can play well without Ross Draper. So pleased for the team and fans. Big couple of games coming up now.

  3. Just about feckin sober - what a feckin away day. We decided not to go back to the London Road Tavern after the game !! I spoke to a lot of Cellic fans on the train home and they were full of praise for us rather than slagging their team off. Just a reminder after reading through these posts. We didnt have a bad day at the office we had 200 minutes of dreadful football. We had 200 minutes of lining up four people across an imaginary 30 yard line from our goals. We had people playing as if they had never met each other before and the majority showing little if any zest or determination to play for the shirt. The last 20 minutes at Kllie could be excused by tiredness after the midweek Ibrox heroics but the next TWO games were abysmal - both at home on a Sunday and in front of a nationwide TV audience. The only feckin virus that I suffered was feckin embarassment. So what happened yesterday. Well the committment was clear for all to see. The "thrill" of playing at Parkhead and playing Cellic may well have spurred a few on. Plus they had something to prove. But to me there were some tactical changes. The back four held a much higher line and Raven and Shinnie both played in a defensive mode and were covering the central pairing. Warren took on the centre half role and meekings was more of deeper sweeping partner. Doran and Roberts played deeper but always went wide when we had the ball and the others looked to feed them instead of hoofing. Foran was immense, back in the central midfield position and he was the worker which allowed OTJ a bit more space. A.Shinnie was given a roving role and that was evident in the last 20 when cellic began to tire. The pace of Roberts and McKay scared Cellic. McKay was not played as a target, he sat on the last Cellic defender. Cellics shooting was also very, very poor but we pressed the ball this week and we never stood off and let people shoot. REGUERO   I will give him MOM. He could have been shaky after the end of Well game but he didnt feckin show it. Cellics shooting gave him a helping hand but he also made 2-3 great saves although he does love to showboat. But to me it was his energy that impressed me and he always looked to play a quick, simple ball. RAVEN   An example of consistency and confidence personified. WARREN   Thought that he was also immense. Played in the role of a more traditional center half but won everything. MEEKINGS   Played his part, allowed Warren to take the lead, but a fine supporting role. G.SHINNIE   Evidently told to think more about the defensive side of his game. Not as attack minded as usual but a lot more effective as a full back. ROBERTS   He could quite a bit of stick and i bet many would have preferred him to be warming the bench when he put in a glorious cross for the winner. He is far from the finished article and I still dont think he is comfortable playing wide but - how may times was he the "out" choice for the others ? - how many times did he hug the touch line and actually take people on ? - How many times did he plough a lonely furrow and ate up the seconds ? Shure he fecked it up as much as he succeeded but his mere pace shook that Cellic defence and they ended up double marking him at times. FORAN   Captain fantastic again. He always gives that type of performance when he is in the feckin middle of it when we have our backs to the walls. Puts Brown in to the shade. OTJ   Looked far more comfortable beside Foran who did all the dirty work and allowed OTJ some space and time and the opportunity to sneak forward. DORAN   A bit like Roberts to me although he looks far more comfortable on the ball and gave Cellic the willies when he drifted inside. But what a feckin miss MCKAY   Great shift which probably went unnoticed to many but he is a natural goalscorer and should have added to his tally. Again the Cellic central defenders found him a handful because of his constant movement and he was played on the feckin shoulder of the last defender instead of being a nullified target.

  4. Ah grasshopper - the "girlfriend" of last season didnt look after herself. She put on a bit of weight, wore dowdy clothes and became a bit of a dull, plain Jane. She got so infuriating and boring, especially on a match day, that you often slept in the spare bed, Nobody else would look at her twice and she basically did'nt turn anybody on. Her moods changed from minute to minute but yet she still thought that she was doing OK and stubbornly resisted change. Then this pre season she sits down and takes stock of her life and talks to a psychologically minded wizard from Chorley. She accepts that she has flaws and has to improve. She wants to go abroad to bronze herself but as money is tight she spends a few weeks shopping in the Primarks of Englandshire and is also able to grab a wee bit of Spanish sunshine. She goes on a diet, puts on a slap of make-up and gets her hair done. She slowly gains confidence and men in the street start noticing her again, passing positive comments and the wolf whistling increases. She simply becomes consistent and relaxed in her mood. She sticks to the same shampoo, the same perfume and the same shape and looks. Sure she has the odd day off, usually once a mouth, but who doesnt !! There are days like yesterday when half of the Highlands would jump into bed with her. She has come alive again but although she will strut her stuff she will remain loyal and will not stray. Many doubted that she could change and she had got herself in a rut. But most could see the undoubted potential and remember the beautiful girl in her hey day. It was always there under the skin and just needed some minor alterations. And who knows - she may well attract the punters from the Dark Side instead of watching them slump wearily into the South Kessock night.

  5. Think we need to add a "Where we work" section to profiles so we can all go round each others work and boo the feck out of people when they have a one off bad day.

  6. After last season I feel that this season is like going back with a boring girlfriend after she has cheated on you with your best mate, to find she has learned a thing or two and is suddenly more exciting and adventurous. Some boyfriends realise they have to get over it quickly or the relationship is doomed, some feel that the girlfriend has to suffer just a little bit more before they can trust again. With that in mind I think the doubters should be cut some slack. I am going to give them until the December 31st to stop greeting every time she looks in the general direction of another man then if they still feel the same they can feck off and watch county. Appreciate your thoughts

  7. Have only been to Parkhead twice to watch ICT, both times we won. Just need to see a League Cup win there now for the hat-trick! Was sleeping with the enemy yesterday (never again) but was funny to hear the home crowd version of events, rage levels rising with each refs decision which went against them and the clock ticking towards full time. I wish we had buried them with the missed sitter to go 2-0 up - I would have been the only one left in the home end and I could have celebrated properly. Well done ICT and thoroughly deserved all 3 points.

  9. I'll throw my hands up and say I was having serious doubts about Butcher and the team earlier this season. It is now obvious that I was wrong. I'm looking forward to the game on Tuesday night and I am very positive about the way things are going. My one regret is that I can't get to more games due to being away most of the time. So to everyone at ICT I'm sorry I doubted you. Keep up the good work!

  11. U-19s appear to have beaten Partick Thistle 6-0 in the SFA Youth cup. No idea of the ICT team........though I can flaming well give the list of Partick's starting team and subs.

  12. Apparently demand is so high that the Ross County admin staff were finding it difficult to get through it all However, they called in help from Elgin City's ticket office and all 12,000 tickets have now been sold.

  15. http://caleythistleo...-ct-report-r992 A light-hearted analogy take on the Celtic game courtesy of Dr Johndo, taken from his post on the forum. Dangerous stuff comparing Inverness Caledonian Thistle to a wummin.

  16. That has to be the best game I've witnessed against Celtic since we beat them at TCS 3-2 with ten men. The day started bloody cold but warmed up a bit in Counting House and then London Road Tavern. And who'd ever have thought we'd get our hands on the European Cup.

  18. Great summary as per Johndo. Roberts did brilliantly at the goal as he left two defenders doing synchronised arse sliding with himself going the opposite way, comedy genius, great ball to McKay who guided into the open space. Superb goal.

  21. Out of interest here is our average attendance since we came into the league colour coded for the respective divisions and also includes the finishing positions as well. Big jump when we got into the SPL.

  22. Does anyone else think that Terry handled last week perfectly? It seems like he knows his players and thought they had earned that type of reaction from him. He was equally grounded after today's result and I think this season he is playing a blinder. People are right to criticise after a defeat but I don't think any of our players deserve to be singled out to the extent Foran was when things go bad. Brilliant today boys and another game we have scored in.

  23. To be fair to Ian Black, he was the backbone of our midfield throughout the majority of our SPL history. He was a fans favorite despite his bad-boy reputation, and the well wishes he received when he moved on the Hearts (and whilst he was at tynecastle) almost certainly sees him up there with other 'legends'... I think many people now resent Ian for his choice to join up with The Rangers. I cant remember too much negativity against Ian Black as to what we see since his signing. In my opinion, a Legend in todays footballing terms, is someone who has contributed significantly to the success of a team for a set period. Take for instance Adam Rooney and Craig Dargo. Both here for about 2-3 years each, and both scored goals galore for us. Both can be considered club legends given their goal returns in those short spans of time, but I bet the majority on here only see Adam as being a Legend as his goals effectively won us our place back in the SPL. I wouldn't consider players such as Andrew Allan or Ally Ridgers as legends as they rarely featured in their time. Yet I would perhaps consider Juanjo as being so because he brought in a bit of Spanish flare and continues to hold a special place for ICT.
