  1. Perhaps when the SPFL markets itself properly and makes itself relevant and attractive to potential sponsors then the cost of entry and the % of turnover that comes from gate money will become as "irrelevant" as it is for some clubs in England ... until that time, the club has to charge what it needs to so it can try and make ends meet. They are not attempting to rip-off fans or to make a fortune from them merely trying to sustain the current level that we all enjoy ...... Where the club are failing ... or perhaps more accurately where Inverness appears to be failing the club, (or a bit of both) is in getting more bodies through the gates. Part of that is money, I agree, but equally the SPFL have to also take a large slice of blame for their lack of foresight in marketing and managing the product and making it not only cheaper but also more interesting to a bunch of people who have a multitude of online or TV options to choose from as an alternative. I have said it a few times now and no doubt will again ... but one little 'factoid' from my North american existence ..... is that I can watch any one of about 6 English games on a Saturday morning without having anything other than a cable TV subscription with a basic sports package. Same applies for Sunday or other games as well as Champions League, Europa League, World Cup etc. I had no real interest in the EPL in years gone by but nowadays I follow it a bit more as I tend to select one game and watch it unfettered after jumping through hoops to establish my VPN connection so I can also listen to the extremely flawed product that is Open All Mics in the background. Where there is a Scottish game live on TV it is shunted off to a channel that literally no-one (that I know) has which is part of the most expensive package and invariably involves either the green or blue half of Glasgow against someone else .... certainly not a showcase of the product !! Caley Thistle Play attractive football in the top league ::: Come up with some innovative ideas to try and increase crowds ::: Be fiscally responsible in an effort to sustain top level football ::: Try to keep prices to a minimum ::: Get more people through the gate ::: SPFL Find a main sponsor ::: Market the league globally and make it available on accessible media ::: Dont sell the league short when marketing and agree to stupid/cheap deals ::: Listen to what a broad base of fans want in an effort to increase interest in the product ::: Have the best interests of the game in Scotland at heart and don't give the top 2 clubs in the land such a huge percentage of the prize money :::
  2. perhaps he is talking Dutch? (or double dutch) and is meaning "to provoke, dare or affront" ? job done I would say !!!
  3. Palace are looking for a left back in January...do I drop a hint on the Palace message boards???
  4. technically yes, but then you have to be a county fan and it will cost you more than £5 a game to get that smell out of your clothes !
  5. Do the SPFL have any say in what prices are charged by the clubs? I'd assume we'd have had to advise them of our plan to go with a 'pay-what-you-want' fixture? Maybe they 'recommend' say, a minimum price depending on the level - ie Elgin would be instructed/encouraged to charge £10 in the fourth-tier, whereas we'd be expected to set prices at a around £20 in the top-flight? I agree with Davie, that the gate receipts are the life-blood of teams in Scottish football. It's different, down south - the SKY and BT Sport deals are paying absolute fortunes to the clubs. I can't remember which Chairman it was - but one recently, candidly revealed that with the annual sponsorships from (particularly) TV money, shirt logo, pitch-side etc that gate receipts were 'no longer terribly important'! It's unfortunate that we share a border with the country with a league that's become little more than a grotesque business with Arab billionaires and Russian oligarchs treating it like a play-thing.
  6. Lets be a bit controversial eh I really do not understand why anybody who lives in the near vicinity of Inverness has anything to moan about. The main cost of the day would be your admission and if you planned to go on a regular basis it would make sense to purchase a season ticket. To me the crippling cost of football these days are the costs of travelling. Train and bus fares are continuously rising - hotel costs are high - and then there is food and refreshments (especially in rounds at the Fairways!!). Even petrol can be expensive and the poor **** who sits behind the wheel. Make a comparison with another night out in the week - even the cost of a trip to the piccies, sweeties and a take away.
  7. We would all like to pay a bit less to watch the football. The trouble is that the club is a business with a number of full and part time employees to pay and sustantial other overheads. Even with prudent housekeeping it takes a very good year for the club to turn a profit and there is often a six figure loss and that is with current ticket prices. With a very modest TV deal, ongoing lack of league sponsorship and limited commercial opportunities, Scottish clubs such as ours rely heavily on gate income to survive. Experiments at other clubs, notably Motherwell have demonstrated that lower prices does not seem to result in substantially increased attendance. The club do not set the prices to exploit fans but to ensure sufficient income to remain viable and competitive in the top tier. I am certain they would love to charge no more than say fifteen quid for routine league games but simply can't. They do what they can with one off initiatives for which they should be applauded but, in general, if we want to sustain 'Premiership' football in Inverness we are going to have to pay the going rate.

Its about as accurate as St Mirren fans reading the Hearald and favourite film love actually. 'St Mirren fans' most favourite sports are Basket ball, golf, tennis, and so on in 7th place is horse riding. In fact 'St Mirren fans' apparently don't follow football at all, neither do our fans. In general its nonsense.

Great find. It's both fascinating and mind boggling! The club can use this data to boost attendances - what our fans really want is Woody Guthrie played over the tannoy, golf scores to be read out at half time, Thai Fish Curry Puffs at the kiosk, and copies of Conde Naster Traveller to be sold by the programme sellers.
  10. John Hughes managed to stifle the negativers for a period but now, like the gophers in the prairies of Saskatchewan who appear out of their holes when the snow disappears, to see what's around them, here they manifest again: N for: Negativers, Naysayers, Not helpful, Not uplifting, Naughty, Narky. Even nasty, Not unlikely to depress Nattering about nothing really significant Nebulous at this stage N...... in the woodpile undermines the ship. Note that one swallow does not a Summer make. Nero fiddled while Rome burned but our Management is much smarter and much less mad than him. Notification: We will be in the top three no matter what at the end of the season. Now there's a thing that we should talk about. No player is indispensable and no player can not be trained by John Hughes nor remain at this club for long if he doesn't want to. Never say never, --when there's breath left in the body. Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah Na. Nightie night and remember....never quit 'cos it aint over till the fat lady sings. JINGS!
