  1. Have only seem 5mins of highlights on BBC online, and bar the defensive ****-up, we seem to have played OK and were a tad unlucky not to get something out of the game.....strange how just a few matches ago, things were going so well, but other than the Partick result we seem to have lost out on things just going against us....Aberdeen is alway a tough match, and losing an away match to an odd referee decision hardly the end of the world but I guess after the PT result it does like a wheel has come off ! Do we just put it down to a December jinx? At least there was a decent crowd for this one, with Aberdeen bringing so many Still at least we can enjoy Rangers floundering around in the league below us! Meanwhile back at my other club, more than one wheel has come off, and the driver has been jettisoned! (I can barely remember a season when one manager gets through it unscathed!)
  2. Partick Thistle was an abberation. Our entire defence decided to have a day off. St. Johnstone was the result of one very poor decision by the match official and yesterday was decided on one defensive mistake from our most combative full back . There's no doubt that we miss Draper in the midfield when he's not there and that merely highlights the smallness of our first team squad, and the fact that it has to perform at 100% week after week. Even with that, we are competing well for a european spot with half the season gone. Can we reasonably expect more? We are creating chances, but not scoring and it may be that we need to strengthen with a different type of player to Mckay to bring about that much vaunted "plan B" that people have sought since Butcher was here. Even at that, there is the problem of finding enough money with the crowds that we have to fund that kind of purchase. We will have ups and downs, perhaps we need to learn to live with that. Grim? look at County. They have more money (they tell us) a bigger squad (they tell us) and more fans (they tell us) and where are they? Now that's grim.
  3. It is the Christmas period, so I guess it's appropriate, right?!
  4. A lot of unjustified negativity on here after the game. Aberdeen probably created 2 clear chances and took one. Doubt if Brill had a save of note to make while their goalkeeper ceratinly had at least 4/5 good saves to keep Aberdeen in the game. We were unlucky yesterday, on another day we could have won easily but just don't seem to be getting a break just now.
  5. It is the Christmas period, so I guess it's appropriate, right?! Argh, predictive text again. Except that it was the men from the east that brought gifts not the other way round. Dons fans seem to think they should have had more - a penalty and us down to 10 men. At least Calum Murray didn't think so but why he didn't at least book Badwillie for deliberately pushing Warren in the back was unbelievable. Draper was sent off for less intent in last week's game.
  6. Very disappointing. We'd be top of the league if we'd beaten PT, SJ (very do-able) and converted a couple of yesterday's numerous chances. Seems obvious that teams are wise to our style now, so those free-flowing victories are not going to come along like buses. But I'm sure there has to be some off-field distraction going on with the window about to open. Had a quick look back at the rumours surrounding Billy this time last year...even JH was apparently challenging clubs to come in for him with decent offers - how would that not be anything other than distracting? Ach whatever, just disappointed. Onwards.
  7. A lot of criticism on here, but from my seat in the Stadio de la O'Neill's in Glasgow I thought that, from about 20 minutes in, we were a lot better than against Dundee, Partick or (from what I heard) St Johnstone, and with better luck and decision-making should have had all three points. Dreadful lack of positional sense from Tremarco for the goal, obviously, and for the first part of the first half we didn't seem able to bring Watkins or Doran into play at all, but as soon as Tansey, Christie and Doran started pressing the ball better we started dominating possession and created better chances than we have done for several weeks. Can't really blame either Watkins or Mckay for being a little selfish in front of goal when both are presumably desperate to put an end to barren runs, but we could certainly have done better had either shown more composure. It's a depressing result and run, but having sat through that horrendous capitulation against Partick two weeks ago, I'm quite encouraged that we were today, for an hour at least, the better team against a side that is by any measurable statistic one of the best in Scotland currently. Would stick with more or less the same line-up against County, but we do need to take that more aggressive, pressing approach that we showed from 20 minutes in today, rather than letting them dictate play as they did in the first half of the previous fixture.
  8. I'm starting a newctopic so this gets noticed so can a moderator delete tomorrow thanks. There will be a final chance to book and secure a seat on the buses to County on Thursday. Price is £5 return and buses will leave from Strouthers Lane (tk maxx) or the stadium at 1.15 pm. We will be at the stadium selling these from 10-1 tomorrow. Match tickets can be bought from the club shop until 1 pm as far as I know.
  9. But perhaps, instead of looking at the Xmas difficulties, we should look at 2014 in perspective as the curtain now falls on the year - in my opinion, our best ever year! A first cup final and our highest ever points total in the top-six. Yes, it's finished on a low - but over the year, we really can't complain! My 'wish list' for 2015 would be 4th place and Scottish Cup semis!
