After all the recent complaints about the terrible coverage we get from the BBC, they dedicate a prime time Saturday evening show to ICT.......and we don't show up.

I have no problem embracing change SP. It simply would not work. Football has enough to compete with when the weather is foul. In the summer , I believe, other distractions would decimate crowds. The changes we need are in league reconstruction, terracing and innovation in price structuring etc. And Alex.........most of the extra traffic on the A9 is in the form of caravans...........and we know where they are heading!

Our current schedule could easily be tweaked without going full blown "summer league". No matter which way you go you need to have midweek fixtures, what we need to do is have those fixtures earlier/later in the season and not during the toughest/gloomiest winter months. Start the season with 3 or 4 weeks of midweek fixtures when the nights are a bit brighter and enthusiasm for the new season will help bring a few more along to these games....pitches are also at their best and able to cope with "extra" games. You can also condense the post split fixtures into 2 weeks by doing Sat/Tue/Sat/Tue/Sat. This gets rid of nonsense scenarios like we had this season with 7 games scheduled for January. Keep the New Year fixtures, but perhaps look at no scheduled games either side as a kinda winter break/buffer zone. It's not just weather and pitch conditions that cause issue over the festive period...that's also the time of year when people's finances are most stretched and it's not necessary for us to be cutting our own throat by trying to compete with xmas for people's cash.

I think quite a few people are confused about how a summer league works. It isn't just played from June-August! At the moment in our 'winter league' we don't play in June and July. Summer leagues don't play in December- February. Leagues in Europe who play a summer league such as Norway, Russia and Ireland play March-November. So if we had a summer league this weeks game would be our first game of the season. Summer league or not the game yesterday would have been called off!

We should build a BBQ area along the length of the West Stand side. A few dotted Barbies - garden benches - parasols in the club colours - beer being delivered by lads with strapped, advertised supplies - a Boots counter with sun products - and of course SP is spot on - the grass needs to be of the finest quality,

Renegrade, I have to totally disagree. The wee teams are always a thorn in the side of the big so drawing DU could be a problem for us.
  8. I must admit I did wonder if the right decision had been made when the sun was shining this afternoon. However having seen the pictures on sportscene the area between the 18 yard line and centre circle (Caley end) was well flooded. This area was a problem when we played St Johnstone and we have had far more rain over the past week. If it had gone ahead the wind would have been a nightmare and the conditions would likely have suited Raith more than us. A few extra days rest and an extra training session for the new strikers should benefit the team. Let's hope the pitch dries out and we can get a win on Tuesday.

Kingsmills - you are invited to the next Seers Meeting - don't need to tell you where or when.
  10. Amazing that football clubs are expected to achieve what mankind hasn't managed to do for thousands of years....predict and successfully beat the weather!! Covers were down and all possible precautions were taken...but we're talking about 10's of thousands of gallons of water falling in a fairly short time on to ground that was already heavily soaked from ongoing wet weather....and a forecast that said it was going to continue. (a forecast that, until yesterday afternoon, had indicated the risk was lowish and chances are it would have missed the city) Clubs, including ICTFC, have been pilloried in the past for not making early decisions in situations were extensive fan travel is involved...and some of our fans have been most vocal about it when we're the ones travelling! (although technically speaking it's the SFA rep doing the inspection that makes the decision). We have one of the most experienced groundsmen in the country who has performed miracles on occasion over the years to get matches on, so let's cut him a bit of slack when he can't pull off the impossible!

Summer football sounds very sensible. I'm sure RiG will agree.
  12. Glad he's getting signed up but surely he deserves more than a year? A couple would be the least he deserves and give him some security.
  13. Always a gentleman whenever I met him. Loved his time at ICT and always talked highly of the club and the fans. Sad when anyone has to cut short a career because of injury but when it's someone you know it hits home what a short career a footballer can have. I wish him well in whatever he does in the future.
