Great point, well deserved. A special pat on the back to Esson who has had a lot of folks on here on his case recently. Looks as he'll be our keeper for rest of season now. But overall, a good performance from the team as a whole. We harried Celtic from the off, giving them little time to settle, ok giving away a lot of fouls (and needless yellow cards) in the process, but nevertheless keeping them at bay when it mattered. Very encouraging for next week. I'm looking forward to it already. See some of you there.

Deano's injury overshadowed an excellent result. He looked in some pain. Perhaps a bit harsh but I thought the paramedics were a bit slow getting to him, plodding onto the pitch like they were having a Sunday stroll. A dislocated knee usually puts a player on the shelf for 6 months, so the big man's season is over. In consolation, Esson came on and kept a clean sheet. Hope he goes on and takes up the mantle with both hands (no pun intended). The performance was a mixed bag. Defensively the whole back 4 (and Esson) were excellent. Draper broke up play well. Our midfield and front 2 also pressed well and did a lot of defensive covering. Going forward we didn't put too many good moves together. Shinnie looked our biggest threat with his surging runs. Ofere had a very impressive first hour, he harried and pressed, held the ball up brilliantly and picked out a good pass most of the time. He was also a threat in the air, even against Celtics mammoth centre halves. After that he started to fade. He surely must start next week. As the second half went on, we started sitting deeper and deeper, giving Celtic space and time to build moves, and had to resort to hoofball. Real backs to the wall stuff. Sometimes you have to play ugly to get a result. I know I wasn't alone in the stands feeling relieved when the ball was played long, rather than a short hospital pass along the back. Thought the referee had a poor game today. Some of the yellow cards he dished out were absolutely bonkers. It's a minor miracle that both teams finished the game with 11 men.

So that's four points we have taken from Celtic this season, which is four more than the challengers elect have managed. The next time the sheep apologists start bleating on about their title challenge, they would do well to remember if it wasn't for the likes of ourselves, Dundee Utd and Hamilton, then they'd need a telescope to see Celtic.

Ofere tired towards the end but getting 90 minutes under his belt will do him a lot of good. He caused Celtic problems with his strength, and you can't complain with two goals from two starts. Deserves to start in the semi final. It's great to go into next week with a bit more optimism, especially considering that today, despite our excellent work rate and defending, I don't think we actually think we played that well. The passing could have been better and we didn't work the keeper much. The dynamics of the game next week will be much different. We'll be playing on a big pitch so it will be harder to get in their faces, but if we break quickly it could work in our favour. Buzzing for round 2, let's make it two finals in successive seasons!

What a difference from Wednesday night. I thought we were more tighter at the back and I thought going forward we were more active than we have been the last few months. I agree about Ofere fading towards the end but that's to be expected due to him having a long time away from the game. Looking forward to next week!

While Celtic obviously have a higher standard of player than us, I hope we don't exacerbate the scoreline by choosing the wrong line-up and using, like on Wednesday, an awful gameplan.

I was sorry to hear of the recent untimely death of the former Raith Rovers chairman. At a time when many in Scottish football were searching for any pretext to keep Rangers in the top league or the second top division at worst, despite their disgraceful and dishonest conduct over a long number of years and in the face of all sporting and moral integrity and at a time when even those who didn't agree were keeping their heads below the parapet for fear of the backlash from the Union Flag draped hoards, he stood up and had the courage and integrity to state what needed to be said. A brave and honourable man prepared to do and say the right thing. Even with his passing, we are all still Turnbull Hutton.
