  1. I predict that the tie between Dundee United and ICT/Hibs will set a record............for the least amount of attention ever paid by the central belt media to a Scottish Cup semi final.
  2. I am here in defence of Miles Storey who is not having the best of times. However I am still convinced he is a class act but we have managed to destroy him as a footballer with our tactics. I pray he will still want to be here in the summer, if signing him remains a possibility? Quite frankly IMHO we have dragged him down to our level.......
  3. We are so negative with back and sideways passing, the ball is moved so slowly hibs always had time to regroup and defend only when we increased the pace after equalising did we see hibs start to crumble. Constantly players check runs to pass inside, we are so narrow in the middle of the park with only storey and Roberts going wide when they after re the men who should be central. Disappointed by how many times storey gets caught offside though, with his pace he should play the line better as he will still be favourite to the ball. Lucky to get a draw but we need to play better and show a bit more urgency and creativity
  4. League winners go into Champions League play offs. Scottish Cup winners go into Europa League qualifiers along with second and third in the league. If the cup winners have already qualified for Europe through the league then the third Europa League spot goes to fourth spot in the league. Cup runners up no longer qualify in any circumstances.

So sad to hear of Ross' passing this week. I was very surprised as I seen him at Dens park just last weekend. I only knew of him by name and face but you could tell he was a huge Caley Thistle supporter and well liked within the Caley community. Yesterday was fantastic by our fans with the minutes applause for him. My fondest memory of Ross certainly would have been the game against Rangers before the Scottish independence and Ross stood up against their fans with a 'Yes' Sign for majority of the game.
  6. The Organisers were so worried that the two parts of the old filth would be knocked out in the semis that they had to guarantee one of them a place
  7. Maybe he needs a better song ?
  8. Agree, Miles is a very committed player with great potential who has not been used effectively and may be lacking a wee bit in confidence. I sincerely hope we manage to sign him up for at least a couple of years in the Summer.
  9. I had a feeling it was going to finish one a piece. Should have put a bet on it. So I'm pleased were still in the Cup and get to play them again on our home soil. When Fisher played in his debut he gave the defence a torrid time playing off the last man. Me thinks we need to be a tad sharper that we stay on side when the balls coming it's a shame that the build up play comes to nothing when it finishes up with being offside unless it's a dummy non interfering run whilst someone else collects.
  10. I saw it like this as well, with Warren on the right, Devine in the middle and Tremarco on the left of the back three. However, Polworth was deployed as the farthest right of our 5 midfielders, which I don't think suits him as well as a more central role, and as the first half wore on he did find himself having to cover the right back position as Hibs dominated and kept us in our own half. If we were to try that formation again, I'd actually like to see Horner in that role with Polworth inside him, as Horner looks more like a natural winger, but I do think that this would make us very vulnerable at the back.
  11. Sounds awful. Who would want to go to a game to spend the whole time filming it on their phone.
  12. Pretty disappointed that we couldn't beat hibs yesterday! I don't think they deserved to win but neither did we! Hopefully we'll get the win next wed and another trip to hampden! i was disappointed with most performances but polworth had a shocker and merited being taken off! The 3 at the back didn't work great even if it did mean both Williams and polworth could get forward more...most of the game they were sat 25 yards from goal! Storey also had a shocker, and his current for is becoming more than a worry! The rest of them, bar draper and warren, looked either nervous and un-interested! Have to say though, Hughes got his subs spot on this time round! Horner should've played in polworth a position with polworth in vigurs place from the start! Mutumbo though has been different class when coming on in games, he totally changes a game in our favour and hopefully he can get more starts and do it in 90 minutes! Anyway, roll on Saturday...3 points now an absolute must otherwise we could be in serious trouble!
  13. Why was Polworth playing in the full back position rather than Horner he had an absolute disaster of a game. After bossing the 1st 10 mins went missing to give what is by far the worst performance I have seen for a long time carry on like this and we will be in deep relegation trouble. only after Hibs scored die we pick it up a bit and what an improvement when Horner came on. I gladly take the draw but in Honesty Hibs were robbed and deserved to be in the semi final draw
  14. Pathetic performance! bullied all over the park and shambolic defending, didn't deserve a replay. Becoming very concerned we'll be in a relegation battle.
  15. Our first instinct always seems to be pass backwards and we keep gifting the opposition opportunities. Fair enough if we had players capable of possession football, but we don't, and that's why they're playing for us and not at a much higher level. When we play more direct we look a far better team, as proved with the equaliser.
  16. Hi I understand the replay is on Wednesday the 13th will not be on TV because of UEFA rules . For three similar recent games hibs fans have broadcast the game via the mobile phone Periscope app which is not great but better than nothing. This has been available to fans of both clubs for free and loses no club revenue as official internet streaming is not allowed either. Up till now no one has bothered us. For the ICT game the away fans are housed in the south stand and it's not going to be great for streaming as its better around the half way line for viewing. Is anyone in your support going to use Periscope? Happy to give advice - it's around 400MB a game in data and you need a modern phone with good processing and battery life. I have just invested in a smartphone tripod/clamp and would be prepared to lend it. I also have a portable battery kit in case there are penalties :-) I'm hoping this is our year - but I've been hoping that for a good few! https://twitter.com/hibsgame https://www.periscope.tv/hibsgame
  17. The idea of Caledonian Thistle really began to emerge mid December 1993, although it had been talked about before that. Earlier that month, Caley passed the merger in principle for a second time, but with insufficient support also to secure asset transfer. This led to the Rebels suggesting that a merged team called Caledonian and playing in blue would be acceptable to them. This is turn forced Thistle to the brink of quitting a bid which by now had been past the point of no return for over two months. A couple of weeks before Christmas, INE Chairman Norman Cordiner spent an evening of shuttle diplomacy between the two sides - Thistle at Kingsmills and Caley in the Kingsmills Hotel. (It had to be Norman and not his CEO Fiona Larg because women weren't allowed in the Thistle boardroom!). The product of these knife edge negotiations was a three fold agreement - the club would be called Caledonian Thistle, the new park would be called the Caledonian Stadium and the team would play in "predominantly blue" strips (there are still plenty of people around who remember what that actually worked out as). Even though they were the minor partner in just about every respect, this still represented a significant concession from Thistle. As a result, since Caley weren't going to accept any name without the C-word in it and Thistle weren't going to surrender the small bit of the action they had got, they were walking a tightrope on that name. Having been in Caley's Rose Street meeting and having doorstepped the Thistle one ten days later, I really do believe that this was the only name that was going to be remotely acceptable at the time and the name was just one of a range of issues on which the entire deal - and SFL football for Inverness - could have collapsed. At this point, all other possible names departed the fray.
  18. For obscurity that one is surely straight out of the "tall ships passing behind Tomnahurich" stable! I am minded of a variation on a famous photo caption from a 1993 issue of LSM (the Caley fanzine) - "Right lads, what to you want do do? Keep trying to be the greatest Highland League team in history or build a Scottish Cupwinning club down the dump with Fiona Larg?" The irony of the original caption lingers on!
