  1. What a great result and, by the sound of things another highly entertaining match. It is great to see Vigurs getting a hat-trick and I expect there may be a good few more to come from him. In my view, he is one of the most composed finishers we have ever had. If he is playing a bit more forward and we are playing with 2 wingers then that will create the space in the middle to give him opportunities. Very interesting to see how many Premier league sides came a cropper or struggled against lower league opposition that they should have beaten comfortably. It is therefore vital that we don't underestimate Arbroath on Saturday although I would expect that the prospect of needing to win by more than Dundee Utd in order to secure top spot in our group should ensure that we beat them comfortably. As for County, is this the first time that any team's defence of a national trophy has ended before the end of July?
  2. I know what you are getting at @ictfcsince94 but really, while the league season has not started, the season as a whole has started ... it started at Cowdenbeath in the first game in the new League Cup format. If you dont believe me, just ask Richie Foran who said something to that effect during the actual pre-season when the Q&A video was filmed ...... its a national competition, part of the calendar for "the season", and players stats and records will reflect that. Was our foray into Europe last season not part of our season? It happened around the same time, and before the league season started too .....
  3. I don't care what these clubs do, to be perfectly honest.
  4. Good start to the game from us in the opening few minutes before Dunfermline took over. I can't recall too many clear cut chances for them but they had us hemmed in and if it weren't for some wasteful crossing they might have grabbed a goal before we opened the scoring. Cracking finish from Vigurs and his free kick for our second was made even better due to it thumping the bar on the way in. Disappointing goal for us to lose in between those strikes. We didn't look to sharp at the back for large parts of the first half with some dangerous balls played in and around or own box and we struggled to clear the balls at times. Our inability to clear a corner led to the Pars equaliser when the ball found its way out to Higginbotham and he, for once, put in a decent cross for Greggan to thunder into the net. Decent goal. In the second half we started to dominate a lot more but Dunfermline were still getting in behind us a fair bit, especially behind our full backs. We appeared to play with quite a high defensive line and both Tremarco and Raven were pushed quite far up and Dunfermline were sending quite a few neat passes in behind them to attack. On a couple of occasions the Pars player who got in behind our full backs was the furthest man forward and he had no one in the box to cross to. Bit of a lucky third goal when King cut inside from the left flank and his shot was deflected over Hutton and our fourth also came from the wing when Tremarco (I think) crossed for Vigurs to complete his perfect hat trick with a header. Tansey had a long range effort strike the bottom of the post before Tremarco then bagged number five when he followed up a Tansey free kick which also hit the post but rebounded out and struck Tremarco in the face and ended up in the goal Good performances again from the likes of Mulraney and McNaughton. King drifted in and out of the game but at times we were too open (something Foran said after the match) and Dunfermline, had they perhaps found a better ball in the final third, might have nabbed more than just the one goal they did get. At times there is a lot of space in behind our full backs for teams to exploit but hopefully we can sort these kinds of things out in the next couple of weeks. Certainly a lot to be encouraged about.
  5. Within the next couple of weeks I expect the Fantasy Football to be up and running , keep a check here for details
  6. If you haven't watched this through, I would urge you to do so. I am about half way through the 90 minutes so far and enjoying Richie's answers and his attitude to things. Feeling very positive about this season and beyond.
  7. Posted July 3 Ritchie Foran has pulled a master stoke in getting Jake Mulraney's signature. He will be a fans favourite because he is what you pay your money in for. Lightening quick, off the cuff, direct winger with amazing feet. He's turned down 2 championship clubs to come and play for Ritchie. Top player, person , huge future ahead of him and brave enough to come to the SPL to ensure game-time to progress his career.Best of luck to him . Just a reminder of a post I made before Mulraney kicked a ball. Accurate assessment??
  8. Not just a comfortable win but an entertaining match. Dunfermline came out of the traps very quickly, were all over us for 20 minutes and were unlucky to find themselves a goal down. At 2-1 up I thought Dunfermline still weren't out of it but the way we kept at them for another goal meant that at 3-1 I just didn't see them coming back at us. Last season we would have sat in at 2-1, would have endured a torrid second half and conceded a last minute goal to lose 2 points. It was refreshing to see us playing creative and attacking football without having to go a goal down first! Shocking behaviour from the Dunfermline fans targeted at Mulraney who was clearly hacked down several times by players who had no hope of keeping up with him. I hope he's able to get used to that. Can't wait for the new season to start proper.
  9. Just looked at the rules for a tie at the top: Thankfully, head-to-head doesn't count: It's goal difference, goals scored, then wins come into play and eventually, drawing lots. It's really in our hands to finish top, so let's just go and do it in style! Mulraney tore Dunfermline to shreds tonight and Vigurs was at his lethal best: classic hat-trick; left, right and header. It's shaping up nicely! A word for whoever came up with the format - it's great and distinctive from the league and Scottish Cup. Plenty of upsets and anything that eliminates RC at the group stage has to be applauded!
  10. Tonight (26 July), Rory McAllister scored both Peterhead's goals in a 2-1 win over Dundee.
  11. Beat Arbroath on Saturday and the worst we can do is qualify for the next round as one of the four best runners up. Beat them well and win the group and we will be seeded as one of the four best group winners. Happy days and entertaining football as well..
  12. Did someo9ne say Vigurs doesn't work hard enough ?
  13. Celtic - no cash gates Rangers - no cash gates Aberdeen - no cash gates Ross County - no cash gates I'm not hearing any complaints from any of them.
  14. They are fixtures that are taking place before (pre) the start of the league season (season). They are competitive pre-season matches.
