  1. I dont get it.........I just dont get it. The club is under incredible pressure right now. The players (of whom we ask so much) are , Im sure, trying their level best. They arent trousering thousands a week; they are dealing with the internal upheaval and in a lot of cases isolated from their families. Its no picnic for these youngsters. I did expect them to challenge for the play offs and that may still happen. Unfortunately if they read some of the rubbish that spews forth from here every time we have a reverse in fortune..........well, that cant help either. Consistency would be great; a sustained run of form.....fantastic. We have done it before. But can we just get off their backs.........we are starting to sound like entitled Old Firm fans.
  2. I was critical last night too and my glass is usually half full. We all want the best for the club, but this season is unique and we hopefully come out of it unscathed and can have a great season when the 2021/22 campaign starts. The forum needs different views and healthy debate.
  3. Go and fill up your glass and try and keep it half full It's been a crap year and the football season is not much better with all the problems the club has had but we still need to get behind the team and hope things will improve next season although there is a lot of rebuilding to be done with the team. A few more goals from Toddy like the one above will help
  4. I agree, and I was being critical last night watching the game as I want us to do well. Unlike others, I don’t think there is any evidence of players not trying. Last night Dundee had a game plan that pressed us back and didn’t give us space. Due to that we lost the midfield battle and struggled to create anything. That resulted in long balls being played which promptly resulted in us not keeping possession and getting pressed back again. We need to decide who our target man is, if indeed we are playing with one, and then build the team and formation to support that. We’ve had Sutherland, Storey, Todorov and even Keatings playing as lone striker, with mixed success. Sutherland is better up top than out wide, and with our injuries we should use Storey’s pace by playing him wide. Looking at this season compared to last season, I think there are a number of areas we are weaker. I like Duffy and he is developing into an important player for us, but he is not yet as effective as Rooney. We will see more from him next season. We are also missing Walsh and injuries to Doran and McDonald have meant we have had to play players wide who are not naturally wide players (such as Sutherland and Mackay). Dare I say it, we are also missing White, as whilst he got mixed reviews here, he was a nuisance to defenders and was our top scorer. Add to that the injuries, particularly those to Carson, Toshney and Doran, the turmoil behind the scenes with the issues faced by Robbo and Kells, the run of postponements (our form was better before the postponements started than it has been since), the number of youngsters being used (which is a positive in the longer term), of course the pandemic impact and the changes that has brought, and the financial position we are in, not forgetting that many of us on here were already hoping at the start of the season that we would simply have a club at the end of the season, and there is some inevitability that we would struggle to meet our expectations this season. There is still time to go on a run and challenge for a play off place, as Queen of the South have shown, but currently we need to focus on getting points and steering our way out of trouble at the bottom. We have three games ahead that are winnable, but equally we could lose some or all of them. We will know by 2200 next Friday which battle we are in! I agree with Naelifts, now is the time to show our support, not just to the players but to Robbo, Kells and McCann.
  5. That could be a huge 6 pointer for the whole league. Suddenly the top 4 have a touch of breathing space. I hate to say it but we maybe need to look down more than up. Our next 2 games could be huge in that regard. I think we have a young squad that could be dangerous next season (with a couple of less injury prone more experienced pros beside them) but we have to make sure we are still in this league. Most dropped points this season have been preventable but sounds like tonight was a merited defeat.

Due to resume on 23rd of this month. In a generally disappointing season so far, a decent cup run would be a great boost both to morale and finances.
  7. This game has been rearranged for Tuesday 16 March. I think that gets us up to date with games, but it also means two games against Raith within 5 days. Seeing the cup thread, presumably we will be at Buckie on 23 March.
  8. I'll choose to believe that you are being sincere. If however you do feel that any posts on here break any of the site rules you can, of course, report that post.
  9. No one says you aren't entitled to an opinion. No one is picking on you. No one is ganging up on you. No one is trying to drive you away from the forum.
  10. Got to comeback on this. Nobody was being singled out. I was referencing "the mood in the room". Degree of paranoia here I think

Wonder if there's any (albeit extremely small) chance that the Tier System will be reintroduced by the time the Buckie game goes ahead, and fans can return in small numbers, which could also mean there might be a very small amount of fans at the derby game too. What's the Tier 1 requirements this time? We were (If I remember right) at about 24 cases per 100,000 people, before Boxing Day.

    Don’t assume!
  13. Can’t say I’m surprised as he has had issues in the past and the pandemic will have been tough on him, so returning closer to home is understandable. He will probably earn more too. Hopefully we see the best of him for the rest of the season. Is there an up to date list anywhere of who is out of contract when?
  14. Really need to dig in for the points - not just in the next few games - but for every remaining league game to ensure safety. Performances in recent seasons have shown staggering levels of (in)consistency, and I believe the problems are deeply embedded in our playing and management set ups. Whichever way this season goes I think we are at a very real fork in the road. Big decisions will need to be made.
  15. This is a season for surviving, rebuilding and getting youngsters in. The first of those three is most important.
  16. Very disjointed first half and slack defensively. Dundee weren’t really that good as they should’ve won by a few more goals. Expected a lot more from the team. But maybe expectations too high for this season.
  17. Grim, grim, grim. Dundee well on top at the start and although we pushed them back a bit they quickly re-established their dominance. They knew a high press against our back line would work given McCann's preference to play out from the back and players were often caught in possession. Meanwhile, our defence looked haphazard any time a cross or long throw came anywhere near it. McDaid turning Duffy inside out for a good chunk of the first half before he eventually realised he could nullify him by sending him towards the bye line was criminal in how long it took to be employed. By that time though the damage was largely done. McMullan was ripping Harper apart on the ICT left and he sent in a cross that found Max Anderson as he burst into the penalty area and although Ridgers did well to save his first effort the Dee player made no mistake at the second time of asking and put Dundee 1 - 0 up. We rallied a little to push the home side back a bit and had some half chances but Dundee took a deserved two goal lead when a high ball into the box was missed and it landed at the feet of Cummings who spun round and whipped the ball into the net. Prior to this Dundee had great chances falling the way of Mullen, Cummings and Anderson who all had goal bound efforts blocked by Deas or Ridgers. It was one way traffic in the first half and ICT could count themselves fortunate not to be further behind. Second half was less eventful overall compared to the first. A suspiciously offside looking Storey broke through the Dundee defence but shot straight at Hamilton as the angle narrowed whilst Sow blazed over after good work by Cummings on a Dundee counter attack. We did get one goal back when Harper sent over a delicious cross from the left touchline to find Toddy at the back post and he thumped a header past the flailing Hamilton. A similar move almost lead to an ill deserved equaliser but this time the header went wide. Grim performance from us. As has been the case at times this season we at poor for about 75% of the game then improve markedly for the final 15 to 20 minutes or and look like we might do something. I know we have important creative players like Doran and McDonald out but we should be still be doing better than we are. We created precious little for most of that game it is extremely concerning going into a very tough game on Saturday against Alloa. Go behind in that and I don't fancy our chances of turning it around into a much needed 3 points.
  18. After all the positives from the Hearts game, that was a real let down. 4 wins from 16 league games is not the form required for promotion.
  19. Suspect money will be used to keep the lights on?

Looks like James Keating's in joining them in the summer.

    In a word, no.
  22. Heard that uncle Roy might be sniffing around one of our young midfielders...
  23. Keatings allegedly signing a PCA with Raith Rovers.
