  1. I can't believe so many folk are getting wound up over a friendly result. As has been said the key thing here is fitness and getting the players used to playing together again as well as integrating any new signings into the starting XI. Man City were beaten 2 - 0 by Sporting Lisbon the other day and their players aren't fussed because they know it's just about the fitness. The same applies to ICT.

  2. The two guys still on trial but with slight knocks look to me as if Tel wants them, as otherwise they would have been offski by now. MacKay Stevens is a very very talented guy, who has had a few injuries at the wrong time. Believe he would still be at Liverpool but for his time out. This can be his way back into top flight, closer to home, more settled, and a Terry said this guy could challenge Johnny Hayes for his spot. I know he has impressed the other players a lot in training aswell.. The defender from Newcastle might be the 22 year old back up we need, to learn his trade and push the centre backs for compitition. Other than that I think Terry will then only go for a loanee or someone who is too good to turn down. Remember we also have a lot of very promising under 19s, two of which are internationals, two of which have also players the early friendlies. I can see Liam Polworth, Kyle White, Jack Sutherland, Tom Smith, Adam MacLeod and Martin Laing pushing for bench places with the others no far behind. Liam Polworth has graced each level he has played at, and I wouldnt be suprised if he breaks the youngest player record for the first team - as he is still 15 i think til sometime before Xmas. Of those 19s named thats 2 defenders, 2 midfielders a winger and an out and out striker, who has been described as the most naturally talented striker to have come through the youth system so far. I would not be worried at any of those guys been in the team with the established guys around them. Tom Smith is a very able and calm left back, Jack centre half, Martin the red haired lad in centre mid who has played a good few friendlies, Liam is a younger build that looks like his dad, Kyle and Adam can both play as strikers, with Kyle more used in Forans place on the left wing - and he is quick by the way.

  3. We had joy, we had fun We had 6 seasons in div 1 This is the 17th season of ICT's existence, and I was just curious how many of them had been spent in each division. The answer seems to be: Div 3 : 3 Div 2 : 2 Div 1 : 6 (5 consecutive then 09/10) SPL : 6 (5 consecutive then 10/11) 4 promotions, 3 league titles, and just 1 blip. That's a pretty good record if you ask me, and I think we'd all have settled for that in 1994.

  4. Yes I do need to get out more. I have 2 very young kids which is a bit of an obstacle to the social life, and more to the point, answers your question. The clue was in Caley100's post FFS! All your other defamatory and homophobic posts have had to be deleted. Hope you enjoyed your brief visit to the site!

  5. I wouldn't read much into this result. The time to judge them is when Hayes, Foran and Rooney are in the starting line-up.

  6. Wakey wakey folks, it's a pre-season kickabout. We lost, big deal. Lets not all get our knickers in a twist about this one. When the big games start, the big players will be playing and that's when to judge them. Fleetwood Town are probably a decent side and the SPL is just an average league, we have no rights to be talking about thrashing these kind of teams and if it is a wake up call then good.

  7. I was at the game. Negatives: nervous first half, better in the second. It was obvious that they hadn't played together. Tended to bypass the midfield and most of the final third cross balls were "kick and hope". Max Johnson was in goals. I've got to say he looked very nervous. I'm hoping it was nerves because I wasn't impressed. definitely at fault for the goal. Came well out of his box and shouted for the ball just as the defender kicked it. Mis-kicked and left the goal ide open for Lossie. He misjudged quite a few cross balls (got under them). He wasn't worked that hard, and hopefully it was first game nerves. Positives: the boys weren't scared to mix it. Some were perhaps more keen to get rid of the ball rather than look for the pass. A wee bit of a fitness issue for some, but the endeavour was good. I would say they potentially made more chances than Lossie but lacked that wee bit in front of goal. You could see that Kell and Doc were getting frustrated. Most of the Lossie players looked older, a feww dirty tricks, but the boys didn't seem fazed by this. Proctor played well. I thought the defence was the strong point, but they needed his steadying head. I would like to think they will hold their own in the U19 League. But somehow I think it might be a long season for them, Go on boys - prove me wrong...please! Having said all that, I enjoyed the game, beautiful evening, and a lovely fish supper!

  10. I'm ok with our centre-backs, as long as we resist the temptation to put Tokely back to the right. Maybe a young guy looking to learn from the experienced trio to challenge in a year or two's time. If we play the 4-2-3-1, then the attacking midfield depends a lot on Gil being up to it, as I doubt either Odi or Sanchez will be able to produce week in, week out. That said, I still fancy us being able to take enough against St Cowdenbeath, Killie, St J and the Accies enough to avoid relegation (that's my target). Plus Aberdeen if they can't get any more quality players in (we wait and see). I think top six is just out of our reach (Rangers and Celtic obviously will be there, I like the Hibs attack, Hearts have got some decent signings, Dundee United will still be there, as will 'Well) but very little between the bottom sides. Once settled, I think our squad is of an age to develop, with only a few additions over the next couple of years. I think that's what clubs our size should do. Then maybe, a bit of luck, a find or two, maybe we can get a decent cup run, a big transfer fee or a top six. I'm pretty confident about the future as long as we don't panic, as I think we might struggle in the first few games as we adjust to the SPL.

  13. Whilst I agree it is only a pre season friendly it is also good to start playing together as a unit again Think this still emphasises we struggle when Foran and Hayes not playing, esp Foran. Wasn't there so would be interested to hear how those who have made the trek down thought we actually played, as I think we lack someone up front who can hold up the ball consistently as we will generally play with 1 up and support coming from midfield

    • Kelty Hearts Training Statement
What a farce we have become, a laughing stock: Did you hear the one about the footbal team from the Highlands of Scotland that want to train at Cowdenbeath? Unfortunately, unlike our board, this is not a joke. Our board are trying to rip our identity from the Highlands and replace it with shared training at Kelty Hearts. I kid you not, this is not a drill and the clowns that run our club appear to be delighted at this coup.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.
