  1. Watched from the A9. Whilst a friendly, it was our last one before competitive action. I was concerned today with our defensive frailties and lack of creativity going forward. Early doors but my observations as I saw it today. Defence. Deas needs to play CH. Toddy is not a CH. Devine was a bit suspect. Fyffe and Harper both did well. Allardice did okay but doesn't offer a lot (Trafford on his bad days). Missed a driving midfielder like Carson today. Welsh was our mom. Magregor is wasted out wide, had a very quiet game. Storey was he usual, 1st half when wide would create space then mess up his shot or cross. When up front, struggled to do much, would lay of when he had time to turn. Keatings had some good turns, passes but doesn't offer enough as a number 10. Think we really miss someone to run beyond the striker and gives us depth/trouble the oppositions centre halfs. Toddy did okay first half up front. Took his goal well. Dan Mackay wide left, came on a fluffed a great chance straight away but thought he looked sharp. Sutherland was pretty anonymous out wide. Brad came on at half time and was solid enough. Poor performance all round, City looked slicker going forwards and organised at the back. Very concerned for Tuesday night. Highlight of the day was a drunk Elgin fan going for a pee in the bushes, slipping, sliding down the hill and ending properly lodged upside down in the bramble bushes. Amazing moment!

  4. And so the usual doom and gloom from some posters begins. This is a pre season friendly to build fitness and played in dreadful conditions, the result is largely meaningless.

  6. We don’t know the story so if we do sign him we should give him every chance. Others have come here with a bad name, eg Donaldson wasn’t wanted by many on here due to not being popular with United fans, but he proved himself. Who knows, Duffy could do the same.

  7. We discussed this on the latest podcast a week past Friday and at the time I went for: Ridgers McKay Devine Deas Harper Welsh Carson Doran MacKay Keatings Sutherland Throwing Sutherland and Dan MacKay in there would obviously be a bit of a gamble, but my thinking was that I really don't want another season of seeing us slinging it up to a big target man from 30 yards in front of the goal line, and that front four would in theory allow for a bit more fluidity and flexibility up front, especially if Sutherland can hold the ball up more effectively than White did last season and bring Keatings into play more. On the basis of pre-season, though, I'm starting to think we maybe should give Storey his chance through the middle. If Toshney is injured again, then the rest more or less picks itself, I think, unless Robbo decides to throw Fyffe in ahead of Brad, which I wouldn't mind seeing, tbh. Welsh is the heart of the team if he stays fit, and although I like Vincent as a player, I think we need Carson's greater aggression and dynamism in there from the start.

  8. What was the view of the pitch like? Was considering it for games that we wouldn't be let in for, but then I remembered the "fourth stand" and all that stuff on the pitchside

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
