Thought you'd be along sooner or later. Been meaning to work out the same myself but haven't been ersed so far.

I was at the Clach game in Edinburgh (and met ICTChris). Clach had all the possession in the first half but no idea where the goals were. City scored with a breakaway just before the break. Second half was more open with Clach still having the bulk of the possession but fairly toothless. No doubt the standard in the HL is way down since 1994. Caley or half a dozen others would have gone there and walked it with goals to spare.

(Puts on 'old fuddy-duddy' hat ) I agree with CaleyD - both first and second posts. As a professional sportsman you accept this from the word go. No point in any sentiment about Richie being a nice guy etc. Also what Smee says about the crows is spot on. It's bye bye Richie as far as I'm concerned. Is it the case that the younger posters have a more relaxed attitude to this than old farts like me? Probably. Not been on Pie & Bovril but I'll wager there's less sympathy there for Richie and that's amongst people who can take a more objective view. Apart from the St Midden fans obviously.

Denzil doesn't appear to work like that :015: He's a confidence player: it seems when he's hot, he scores every week. Then he gets an injury or a transfer(!) and starts from scratch again, not scoring for months :007: He took ages to score when he joined us from the Dons, then Hearts from us, and he's taken a while to settle again back at TCS.

Strange how these things work out. Preston are on 2 points in the Premier after 2 games, a point behind Spartans, with Whitehill top on 6 points at the moment. The accepted wisdom down here IMO is that the East Seniors play better football than the juniors, but at a slower pace and less physical. (This is a bit similar to comparing Caley, County etc pre 1994, with the more physical but less skilful SFL teams who provided the opposition in the Cup.) More often than not I would say the seniors have better pitches than the juniors too. Gala and Vale of Leithen are both in div 1 and looked very poor to me - we'll see what the draw for the next round brings.

Bound to be next Saturday at Meadowbank. I went to Vale of Leithen v Gala Fairydean. Pretty poor standard. Makes you appreciate the SPHell. My usual port of call would have been Whitehill. But this was the only tie in South East Scotland today- a derby in front of about 100- amazing how the draw sent all the local teams to North or South West.
