  1. A very good point - this doesn't bode well for the beginning of next season either.
  2. Paying back what you owe is one of the most basic laws of civilization. I find it quite sad that the emphasis nowadays seems to be about avoiding repaying debts, hiring smart lawyers or specialist firms to find loopholes that relieve people of their moral obligations. And now countries. I get really pssed off too with cold-callers offering to help me write off my debts - no win, no fee. Somebody has to pay, and if it's not the debtor, it's probably you and me. :irritated:
  3. Yes, I was remembering 2 seasons ago with a sense of deja vu - lots of injuries, a slow start, but hell, did we ever make up for it!
  4. Does this mean we call them hypothyroids now?
  5. Don't have a problem with the quality of the ins (and generally the outs). My problem is the lack of time the majority of the squad will have trained together by the start of the season. At the start of last season we had a stable, balanced team - they enjoyed working together and the crack among the squad was great. This time around there'll be a lot of strangers trying to get to know each other. I expect a slow start this season.
  6. But we're only champions of the bottom half . . . . .
  7. No a bad plan CaleyD but I can see it being unpopular with teams who may expect to be in the top 6, e.g. Hearts, Dundee United, O.F. for the loss in revenue playing against supposedly lesser teams post-split. And of course one less O.F. derby, which may appeal to the police but perhaps not to the clubs and TV companies. Theoretically we may only have 3 O.F. derbies in a season under your proposed system, whereas under the current system it is very unlikely there'll be less than 4. To prevent the scenario where a club in the bottom 6 may have more points than clubs in the top 6, why not just award all teams who make the top 6 an extra 15 points.
  8. It's bog-all to do with his nationality or his religion. I dislike him because he's a whingeing, cheating, ginger thug. If he wasn't a whingeing, cheating thug, I'd forgive him for being ginger!
  9. Charles I'm shocked! I had you down as a bit of a goody-two-shoes. Seems I was horribly wrong!
  10. Some things haven't changed though. Take the price of colour tellys for example. Of course kids sometimes get into the TCS free now. Don't remember that at Telford Street! 10 shillings was a lot of money in 1970, the receipt of which had a similar impact on a 12-year-old as probably a tenner would have today, which is consistent with Charles's Cream Egg Inflation factor.
  11. Unfortunately we need the OF in Scottish football despite the baggage they bring - you're only as good as the teams you play. If the OF left the SPL, then the standard of Scottish football would plummet. The OF in England would go from strength to strength thanks to the better quality of opposition and the large 50,000+ support that each brings. Our loss would be their gain.
  12. Don't you mean Moore's Law? I seem to remember Boyle's Law was about expansion of gases. Going back a bit here, mind!
  13. "Overexpectationitus" - I knew there had to be a scientific name for it! Aye - that just about sums it up.
  14. Because the team made such a good start this season, expectations have become very high, with even talk of a European place not so long ago. Thinking back to our first ever season in the SPL, the emphasis then was on consolidating our place in the SPL, ensuring we didn't go straight back down, as we were favourites to do. Eleventh place would have been quite sufficient for most of us back then. I suppose we had hopes and expectations of better things in seasons to come and I think we did indeed achieve a higher position at the end of our second SPL season. So why don't we look at this as a season for consolidating our place in the SPL, accept our excellent start to the season as a bit of a bonus, and once we survive relegation and prove beyond doubt our right to remain in the SPL, look to the next season to build upon our achievements? A bit like the last time we were new to the SPL. What's good for Brewster is good for Terry and Mo!
  15. To add to the tongue-in-cheek nature of this thread, isn't it strange how it's always the stand-side linesman who's accused of incompetence?
  16. It is not peculiar to Glasgow, but uniquely, it is a serious problem in Glasgow. Celtic and Rangers are about a lot more than just football and it would be foolish to pretend otherwise.
  17. Aye. Shame about Sergei's wee lass though. She's never quite made it.
  18. Quite the opposite. Supporters who attend home games are contributing financially to the club and are clearly much more loyal than those DISLOYAL supporters who attend away games and contribute financially to the opposition. Boycott away games - that's what I say! And ostracise any supporters seen attending away games.
  19. Well - it was a long time ago, but I think that's Andy Smith bottom left (brother of famous Inverness author Ali Smith) and surely that's not multi-millionaire Jeff Macdonald on the other side of job centre supremo Mr. Milroy!
  20. Surely not this particularly ugly looking bunch! I wonder where they are now.
  21. Whenever I try to use the "preview post" button, I'm taken back to the main Forum page and all text is erased so I have to start again, and remember to "add reply" without previewing. Don't think I had this problem when I posted last week. Is it me, the computer or the site?? Any response much appreciated - cheers!
  22. The clue is in the name of the hotel!
  23. Haha - good one!
  24. You mean, there's ANOTHER Rooney???
  25. I last saw him playing for Clach in a pre-season friendly in Portree. I think Clach were HL Champions then, so it must have been the year we first won promotion to the SPL (but it's just too late at night to remember which year)
