  1. Whoever gets it is likely to have a tough road to hoe. :D
  2. C'monnnn, don't tke it seriously. Just take it on the chin-wag :D
  3. Having noticed Hamilton's steady progress and astute and ambitious management over the course of last season, I can't help but wonder if they are here to stay, as it were, in the SPL -- for the next few years anyway? I think that they will represent stiff competition to ICT as each strives to continue to improve their position in the league this season. Thoughts?
  4. The one fly in the ointment is the fact that if all fishing like this was stopped in Japan then what would the popu;latiuon eat? They are surrounded by water and, traditionally, are a fishing nation? To be successful in changing public opinion to stop this type of slaughter you must convince the Japanese that the cost of their food will not rise.If they have to import food , instead of bringing it into Japan through their ports directly off the boat, the likelihood of a cost increase is high. The counter to this is that if they keep fishing as ferociously as they have been doing as far afield as they can, almost certainly to service the greedy interests of the owners of these factory vessels, rather than simply to ensure that a supply of food is kept coming in for the population, then very soon there will be no fish or marine animals left in the ocean, the whole oceanic ecosystem will have been changed irrevocably and it will have been de-stabilised so radically that it may take centuries to return to the productive state that in which it once flourished. The old approach to doing business which was that you must protect the sources of your food supply by prudent agricultural or marine processes/practices (e.g. by North American Indians)...AND therefore NOT OVERFISH , etc ... has long gone by the wayside. This means that huge damage has already been done and, so long as greed is allowed to flourish unchecked, then the whole situation is hopelessly lost. My view is that the earth has reached a tipping point . Even the fish that still exist in the oceans of the world are filled with contaminants and mercury. In the Pacific North West the industrial run-off discharge pipes have flooded Puget Sound with toxins almost without restriction and all the baby whales are dying in large numbers (and other species) because the systems of their parents are filled with these toxins and after they are born their internal systems cannot handle the challenges they face due to the poisons passed on to them by their parents who themselves will almost certainly die earlier than they should for similar reasons. There is a crisis now in the Fraser River, which courses down through British Columbia to exit through the port of Vancouver into the Pacific Ocean, because sea lice from fish farms and, presumably toxins out in the ocean and the fact that the number of fish that salmon eat have accordingly also been severely reduced, has created a huge reduction in the salmon returning to spawn upstream. At one time, a salmon canning factory in the small village Port of Steveston at the mouth of the river was the largest in the world and exported canned salmon to every part of the globe whilst employing hundreds of people. Now it is a museum!! Even Steveston itself, which once had a huge fishing fleet of boats, is now in total decline. I hope some of the younger fans are reading this thread because it is you will be most affected by these adverse changes in our environment in the future. Every dog has its day and my day is well nigh done so.....? And it will be up to you to do what you can to resist all this vicious crap! The problem facing all of us now is that I don't think we have too much time left to make the drastic changers that are necessary just to contain the damage which has already been done. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is still ejecting 60,000 barrels of oil a day into already ravaged and decimated coastlines. And here in Canada we are now facing huge floods in the middle of the country due to the changed weather patterns which, in one area, dunmped three months of rain on them in two days causing immense damge and loss of life. But wait...as they say in most T.V. commercials... there is more to come---you aint seen nothin' yet.
  5. Well, Caley 100, you do at Thanksgiving, don't you? Or is that only in North America?
  6. Scotty + irony = Ha! Ha! Ha!
  7. If you bring them in to a Scottish Football ground then it will truly finish the game as an enjoyable spectator sport. Who wants, or needs , to go totally deaf at the age of 30? Overpowering isn't the name for it. At 31 I may be over the hill in the eyes of some but....enough is enough. The Pimples in my ears were bursting out in hives by the end of these games.
  8. There is a player in the world cup who is 38! Depends on the individual genes and energy quotient I suppose, but a fit player can keep in shape fairly easily. But to do so he needs regular and disciplined workouts , good food of the right sort and adequate rest. And doesn't like the sauce too much. In short, he respects his body and his profession and appreciates his club enough to get on with it and make it a priority.
  9. Prima Donnas without spirit, energy or desire. Pathetic, shambolic team. Individually they apparently play out of their skins in the League games but representing their country they pass across and backwards more than in the right direction. I wonder how Scotland would have fared in comparison. Any views on that?
  10. Japan has scheduled a huge whaling operation in the North West Pacific. Their aim is to bag about 900 whales. Of every type and description.--not just minke. Their last expedition was curtailed by anti-whaling boats--Greenpeace I think- and their catch came to about 517 whales instead of the 900 which they hoped to catch. They are operating 2 whalers and 3 "research" vessels. Now tell me why do they need 3 research vessels. Do they need to capture or kill 900 whales to get data? For what. What a farce They freely admit that they sell the meat after the hunt. Scotty hit the nail upon the head.
  11. Ach!...............
  12. Lionel Messi is only 5'6" tall--fer heaven's sake. 'Tis quality, not quantity, and a stout heart that counts. He is probably quick........short legs accelerate more quickly.
  13. One swallow does not a Summer make. C,mon, the fella should be cosseted and kept in goal. There is no ned to destroy him just because he had one slip up.
  14. Mrs ICTFC-thanks for that excellent link; I am working on it.
  15. Thank you very much. Scotty I had already 'phoned Aroga. They want $119 plus taxes for the Vision 2 keyboard and I can go over to their warehouse and pick it up in Vancouver. They say that if I don't find it suitable then I can take it back .This is a yellow black combination which I fancy and the keys are 1" when I would have probably preferred 3/4 inch. Why? Because i read somewhere that the one inchers cut down on the speed of typing. However I am willing to try anything once. The CNIB has a site very similar to their site in the U.K. They also seem to fall over backwards to service and please the client and I am sure that the cost of S & H will be less from Toronto or Wherever. Their information is explicit and comprehensive and thier website is great. Anyway I will follow up both again and see what is best value for monery. Right now the KINDER one looks good for me . Basic, no frills, coloured; suitable for teaching children to type. Right up my street. Smile. AND a lot cheaper. Its dimensions are larger also which would suit me since I have wide shoulders and I have to hunch them up to put my hands close together on the keyboard (wink.) Heh! If it does the job and feels comfortable who cares about anything else. You guys are great --all these links were first class research tools.
  16. If he were to go, Wullie no come back again, IHE. Spelt as in the Sunday Post ..OOR WULLIE. EH?
  17. The fact that the club was willing to give Ryan a 2 year deal is a positive approach, not a negative one. They clearly recognise his value to the club and are very happy to have him signed up. But who are they going to slot in as number 2, I wonder?
  18. Nothing like being confident but over-confident is another matter. Think ICT should come out being thoughtful and cautious and pretend not to be the world beaters that they are. Then when they win by handsome margins in every game they can look diffident, surprised, apologetic and humble. Works every time......
  19. With all the ballyhoo on here re this team they surely must be on a par with Gretna ? :D
  20. Don't be too judgemental about his wanderings. His professonal career may be short--a bad injury, for example, could finmish him off and I doubt that his current team when it happened would be the one to pay all his bills forever. Maybe players have an excellent insurance policy to cover this eventuality bvut it certainl;y would be a horrible event for a true profesional player who is probably playing the game for more than just the money. Players have the right, also, to drive to get to the top and, so long as he meets the terms of any current contract, why should he not look around. In my sight, clubs in general have no compunction in letting players go if they don't fit their bill, for whatever reasonso it's only fair to accord the same rights to a player....keeping the playing field even as it were. Bearing grudges is usually counter productive in life and rarely redounds to the benefit of the grudger. Mostly, all it does is to increase the subconscious stress levels in the body , scews up the facial appearance, generates bad chemicals in the body which lead to elevated cholesterol, trglycerides, mental instability, liver damage and often precipitates an inability to digest c.ckaleekie soup and the suffering of colon griping and bloating. And since I would not wish that on my worst virtual enemy , if I were too allow it to happen then it means he has won ........jeez! :P
  21. With ICT clearing a 27 point gap, well, that was really something as it related to the progrsss (er...decline) of Dundee. For Dens fans it was not just a c..ck up but a total drubbing from a very high-priced team it seems.Hunilitaing, like. Well, it's onwards and upwards anyway for the better team and another successful season we all hope --ju st to put the icing on the cake . Oh, that dry wit from the grizzled veteran Yngwie--gotta love it. :021:
  22. If his team are so good why do only some 5000 fans buy season tickets then? Bottom line is surely that the cost of going to the matches is too high for the average fan. PERIOD.
  23. "He who hesitates is lost" Get them both signed up...........
  24. Maybe try to get out of the Icelandic ash clouds first. May be obscuring yer vision or simeething, Hope this is helpful Smile.
