  1. Caley D Thank you very much for this reference and for putting up the illustration which is very helpful. That keyboard seems to have much larger letters and I understand from investigating that the yellow on black is helpful to the vision. So I am on to it this morning and have also been advised that there is a similar one with not just larger letters but wider keys too--they are 3/4" --which may be the root of my problem since I have been hitting far too many "two-key" strokes at one time. Anyway I will advise on here what the outcome is eventually. Your recommendation appears to cost about $41 + taxes and the other make ,with the wider keys , seems to be about $90 but the extra investment will no doubt be worth considering since quality costs more unfortunately. That's quite a lot for a keyboard but for me it's no longer a question of turning my nose up at something like this based on the cost but taking the view "any port in a storm. As I have found out from bitter experience your vision may be taken for granted when one is young but it is very precious and once lost its's a "life-changing" experience. Cheers , Scarlet.
  2. Light, inter season relief..................................? Ferranti Thistle sounds just as interesting and has a longer track record ,I would warrant. And I am sure that FABIO will find discussion on the Italian Leagues , and Sampdoria in particular, a far superior topic. O.K.Back to the jin and tonnic.
  3. I have been diagnosed with "open angle" Glaucoma after a two year stint without an eye check-up. which was a very foolish thing to have allowed at my age. So we live and learn.! Had I gone once per year since I was 40 years old , as STRONGLY ADVISED, then it could have been picked up with the eye machines that they use nowadays--e.g. peripheral vision checker. Eye pressure checker (the Goldman test), etc. Bottom line..I am now blind in one eye as far as reading and driving is concerned and can only see vague shapes and colour; and hanging on with the other. Remedy :-none for the blindness since it is progressive and irreparable. Existing eysight can possibly be retained and deterioration controlled. The disease can be controlled very successfully if detected early enough and this is primarily done by the use of one drop of Travatan Z (others are used to but this is a good one) placed in each eye once per day, usually just before bedtime. This keeps the eye drains open and the flow of fluid into and out of the eye circulating as it should and the drains clear so that the pressure in the eyball does not rise to too high levels. If it does, the optic nerve deteriorates and dies and ...you know the rest. Eye surgery is used too-I received a laser bolt into each of my eyes to open up a new drain in each to prevent the other type of Glaucoma , "Closed Angle" version, developing. This is a very severe and miserable condition that comes on without warning and has horrible side-effectesincluding flashes, and severe headaches, sickness etc. If any one wants to communicate with me on this subject please feel free to do so by P.M.> I have done a bit of research on it . But there is also reams of information online for those affected. Great strides are being made in research for this condition which , in Canada at least ,is the second most prevalent disease leading to loss of vision after Macular Degeneration. COMPUTER_WISE, TECHNICALLY speaking I am having a lot of trouble in typing and I was wondering if anyone knows of a make of keyboard for visually impaired persons which I could get my hands on. My typing speed is quite high but the keys are too close together for me and the mistakes I make are very numerous and are sometime incredible and often laughable. But getting through even a simple post like this requires a lot of care and it is exhausting, with great concentration being required, so headaches result which is normal for me now. Larger keys and greater spacing is needed for me now.--can you advise please. Thank you Scarlet
  4. Spyware Doctor is a malware (spyware) removal programme specifically; It's from a company called PC Tools which also producesc Registry Mechanic , the latter being used by me for years successfully and generally without problems. Both are excellent . You can fine tune Spyware Doctor to run automatically or , as I do, on demand only. As I recall, both have the real time running feature which means ,basically, that they are standing at the gates into your computer and monitoring activity. The problem that I have experienced with R.T.running is that it absorbes too much of the p.c's resources and, in the case of Trend Micro, it caused a meltdown of my computer which became slow and then stopped altogether. Finding the cause of the problem ,and fixing it, ultimately cost me $200 and I learnt a healthy lesson. Trend Micro used to be a reliable and good anti virus programme. Then they started getting into and combining their process with spyware, becoming biiger and bigger and very unwieldy . So, after many years of use, I had no alternative but to dump them. The programme itself comprised over 300 MB at the end.
  5. CC Cleaner is generally viewed as a reliable and effective Reg. Cleaner too BTW.
  6. The fella must be given a chance. If he has let his fitness slip a few notches then he will hopefullly have a rude awakening when he arrives at Topping Tulloch. Terry will not tickle his oxters to get him to move along, of that I am sure. Terry has a major responsibilty now to capitalise on the success of our team last season and I don't think that he will be too lenient on a person who may still have the ability to perform at a high level but is a shirker. That having been said, I never really got the impression that Hart was anything close to that so we shall just have to wait and see won't we? Good luck to him if he does come back because he could do very well if he chooses to really break sweat.
  7. Have a ..hart.
  8. Bauhaus After Johnboy reently ridiculed my connections to the supernatural through our black cat, Matilda, I laconically asked her to investigate this issue as part of her thesis for her application to be inducted into the Pimpernel Organisation's Hall of Flame. She is a real fast thinker and acter and came back yesterday to advise. : "Scarlet, taking into account the aforesaid (she is a bit pedantic, like , so bear with me ) poo-pooing of your thoughts I consulted with the All-Bran Seer over the Bridge over a nice lunch in Avoch and , confidentially, the said Gent hinted that Bauhaus might be in need of some solace after recovering from a bad bout of "Welsh Golfer's". "Welsh Golfer's? " I expostulated. "You mean Glamorgan Glaucoma, I presume.?" "Nooooooooo!" she replied......................Dai Rees, dummy! :P
  9. Parhaps he is hinting that he would like to be approached by......?
  10. To ensure an adequate revenue stream, would such a project not need to ensure that a policy of "all roads lead to Rome" would have to be envisioned by the city in co-operation with ICT. As the major revenue earner in the form of a sports facility in the city, then unless the Council, or whomever is responsible for roadworks, had the plans and funding in place to make sure that all roads somehow led to the stadium in an uncluttered and non-tortuous way to contribute to a continuous smooth traffic flow, both in and out of the park , then nothing but gridlock would result...frustration, ultimately-reduced crowds etc. Presuming that these mooted road projects got the green light well in advance and got underway to ensure completion well before the first ball was kicked, then I see no reason why a progressive thinking and determined Board of Directors could not accomplish this innovative project. It's change or decline on a daily basis for success. No club with the ambition to remain successful for a very long time can affored to get complacent and sit basking in the glory that comes with the good times whilst having no plans in place for the most assured adversities that must come their way from time to time. Therefore , even if nothing ever were to come of this , I applaud George Fraser for his progressive and visionary approach. Most successful people are not all thinkers who see every smooith and every rippled surface on the future road of life; but choose to put their faith in their own energy, dreams and vision to make sure that when the bumps appear then they either have already decided to go round them, over them, or through them and the goal is the only thing that motivates them. One thing is certain if the naysayers on here always work with the prompter that : " Ohhh, we can't do it, there are too many problems that could come with such a venture" then ICT will languish and not get more successful---which incidentalluy would also mean no benefit to many other people, such as organisations , schools, sports teams projects , Rod Stewart -type promotions, and the overall feel good factor of the people in the City of Inverness. Keep it in mind, George ,and when the opportunity arises, just go for it, I say.
  11. Smee--do not confuse puppetry with "getting alongetry" or co-operatingetry". Believe it or not, getting along with people in a job is a great gift and talent not to be underestimated when promotion time approaches. All I personally know about this gentleman is that I was introduced to him once outside at the stadium and he was very affable and had a ready smile.
  12. I alays felt letting Hart go as perhaps a face-saving thing for the club as much as anything. I liked his style. A grafter and a committed player. If this is true he could fit in well in midfield and would be hard to play against He could do a job for the team. The "issue" he had should be in the past--time to move on. Change is all around us and there is no turning back. The fact is of course that it would now be up to him and I think he surely would be smart enough to take advantage of the opportunity. Butcher would get the best out of him ................
  13. When did Scotty the barber retire?
  14. "Studying to be an engineer in the oil industry"" You mean as a deep sea diver, like? Pouring oil on troubled waters maybe?...like?
  15. The salaries in England are eye-popping. Over a million pounds per player. How long can that last? Not every club can be winners and the cost of going to a match there must be very high as well. Is it more than in the SPL? Very high priced and salaried players may be a thing of the past soon and a few good playrs out of work so..... With the austerity smothering everyone everywhere and Greece degenerating into riots because their Government wants them to stop taking 3 months off work for holidays and pay more for taxes where can it all end? 45 BILLION in debt in Greece. The Mediterranean sun warming their lazy little bodies won't pay the bills and clubs without Arabs' purses to back them must be getting windy the noo. A player who is getting on in years, but may still have some gas in the tank and could probably do a real job for ICT, may be interested in coming to lovely Inverness where adoring fans can make one a big c.ock in a smaller donghull. And Yngwie there is no need to revise my post since I am going round yer rules>
  16. ExGrover--that's him. Rotund individual who was wont to call me by my last name only. I took that as a mark of respect. Not sure what he was after, though? Smile.
  17. Aye! Scotty was a character and a dapper lad to boot. At the time I went to him under father's orders, I did not know there was any other barber's shops on Greig Street , or indeed anywhere else nearby. However, I do remember it was close to the Greig Street bridge. Does anyone remember Georgies general store at the junction of (I think) Telford Street and Telford Gardens?
  18. I don't remember Diggar but I do remember one Mr Scott in that self-same Greig Street location, fondly known as Scotty. One of his favourite quips in answer to the question"Can I just have a back and sides please " was 'I am not cutting hair any longer" Does anyone remember him?
  19. Better to be a large co.ck on a small dunghill than a small co.ck on a large dunghill. His salary should not be a pittance by any means I would wager so why would he not want to be a long term resident of Inverness, put the team and himself on the map and enter his dotage smoking tartan-wrapped cigars with his newly-bandaged heid wrapped in a MacButcher toorie with a tassle on the top......marked... "Here rests ma toorie on mah bloody red head I know I've dun a guid joab and now ah'm aff tae bed They like me here in Inverness and I like it here too It's a nice wee placie and I know you would say that too. I've had a tough life and no mistake, and it's not always worked out But here at Caley Thistle things have gotten better and better throughout And that is surely without a doubt 'cos Terry has prioved he has clout. I stayed for the glory and a little bit for the pay But, the real reason was that I could do whit ah wanted and I did it MY WAY. Yeah, yeah, YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, Wullie, pass the bluidy ball man and get on with the bleeding play. :004:
  20. Nippon means "the place where the sun comes from". NIP = sun and PON = origin. (Oxford English Dictionary). :004:
