Great goal by France against Ireland
Scarlet Pimple replied to culduthel's topic in General Football
1. It was very naughty and it was grossly unfair to Ireland. 2. If I were the Irish F.A. I would sue EUFA and France for ten million pounds for their potential loss of revenue and for lost pride and prestige by this "against the rules" situation. DEFINITELY, without a doubt, unquestionably, unarguably. And settle for 6.2 million pounds! LOL -
So can someone at least tell us the score? Remember overseas we do not have the OPEN MICS today. Thanks.

Canada Bob is in Playa Blanca on business . With 363 sunny days in a year and no more than 2 days of rain I think he is also on a pleasure trip. Anyway he has forgotten his laptop or summat and has asked me to tell his online friends that he will not be posting on here for a while. He could be away for several months since he has a vist to Africa planned also I believe. Meanwhile we languish here in Canada with the first snowfall now having appeared on th nearby peaks..looks lovely but it has been cold of late so it looks like time to hunker down. Cheers for now. Butcher's aftermatch comments in the NOTW
Scarlet Pimple replied to caleyrule's topic in Caley Thistle
Jailender has beern coming back on here for years. He is showing signs of wanting to take out a CALEY THISTLE Supporter membership card. Shall we let him in the door? Compared to some other County fans he has a bit of class about him . Also , sometimes his sense of humour alone is sufficient to warrant entry to the club. Be nice to him. He is FASCINATED by Inverness Caledonian Thistle whom he really holds in awe and knows fine that one day they will be back where they belong--on top! -
The loss of Dods without re-installing an excellent replacement was the turning point in the declne and fall of ICT. When you take a shell in a vital part of the ship and then never repair the deep rent properly, the ship will start to sink. No question about that. You cannot neglect such a serious event and get away with it. If this position had been adequately filled the team could have lost a forward or two but the defence would have had the support it needed right in its heart. The inspiration that Dods also gave to the team went with him. This would also have steadied the other players , even if they were not quite up to the same standard of heart, workrate and ability as someone like Dods. This negative event was then compounded by the allowing of good players to leave unsigned. The investment of a few extra pounds in retaining their services would probably have been well worth the sacrifice. The signing of Niculae, for various reasons, was a "good idea at the time" event that went wrong and I think that brinigng in players "out of your league" at such a high salary cannot be a successful strategy for ICT. The net effect overall has been that sub-standard, inexperienced players have been brought in who not only have not properly fitted in or adjusted to the style of play, but sound more than a little bewildered by the circumstances that are surrounding them--to me it sounds as if there is a lack of adequate direction to the players in the performance of their roles and tasks. And an overall sense of dispirited attitudes throughout the whole playing staff, not reduced particularly by a Manager who has a disturbing habit of losing his temper and mouthing off too many times, usually at the expense of the players whom he was (hopefully) hired to inspire , in the media, when a calmer more direct approach to individual players might have been, and could be, more successful has not helped . As I have said before, this team seems to fold under any kind of real pressure and lacks the camaraderie and fighting spirit to put out the effort to overcome this and go on to win . Also The lack of a settled team and too many personnel from England and overseas , instead of the grooming and playing of more home-grown talent, is also a factor IMHO. Firstly, and lastly, how can you expect a 20 + year old player who hails from England to have the spirit of playing for the local team when he barely knows where Loch Ness is, let alone have any affinity whatsoever to Inverness or its folks?

Rmour has it that it was his hankie that he threw onto the pitch and it fell out of his handbag. He was trying to signal his surrender to the inevitable defeat and that he wanted to be taken out.

One of the challenges facing persons who want a change or a new job but don't want to emigrate is that they don't want to leave home, or in this case, Scotland, in particular. Comfort and security is admirable as far as it goes but not necessarily the best spur to a dynamic career change. That's a ball and chain around their foot as far as their future advancement is concerned. Emigration is a leap of faith and no mistake because, generally speaking, there is often no early way back if things do not pan out as well as expected. Being forced to face up to unusual difficulties and new tests , however, is what will change you as a person into someone who then can master most situations that they may encounter in the future, will amaze you in so far as your finding out what talents and gifts that you actually do possess and may pave the way to a very fruitful and fulfilling future. And, by that, I do not necessarily mean in terms of just money. In addition, when you eventually return to the U.K. for a visit, you suddenly realise how much you have grown and changed inwardly and realise that, for you, there can be no going-back to the old ways. Risk is simply part of the challenge and can be a downer or an upper depending on how you view it. If you take a positive attitude and are excited by the prospect then go for it. Trembling knees simply mean that you are alive and willing to have a go.! If you want to stay in the U.K. then never give up applying for jobs and improving your education--make enough strikes and one day you will hit a cracker of a ball into the stands. Personally I recommend emigration. Especially if you have dreams, are ambitious and want to run with your own ideas, are hard working and want to make a contribution to your new country in a social sense. Canada is filled with people like this who are not afraid of hard work, are culturally diverse and are very interesting. There is an old saying "The river, if taken at the flood, leads on to greatness." B)

Why! He was trying to introduce ghosties into a Gyp camp. And the club thought that there were enough apparitions there already. B) -

Then he is much like you Manfer--a Lurkee, par excellence. Now you see him, now you don't.As Monty Python used to say ..."one never expects the Spanish Inquisition!" Just joking, of course. B) -
A financially strained club is hardly in a position to buy out contracts, cannot afford to bring in experienced and proven players and cannot move-on players that have , well, probably not cut the mustard at this time because who would pay enough to make it worthwhile. The only upside is that even if players were moved on at little cost to ICT the savings in wages could be considerable. Soooooo.....?

Surely Roscoe was saying that with his tongue in his cheek? A fella who meandes in and out of Ghostland has to be nice....Smile. The only beef I have with him is that he never listens to my descriptions of the pictuires and faces I see in HIS pictures.Sometimes I wonder if he is a true believer, fer heaven's sakes. -
Glad I read that article Mantis. Got a head on his shoulders --when he is not losing it of course! LOL "Getting well paid for it". Good to see one player who is grateful for small mercies. Mercy !
-
Being selfish I only want to see video (if humanly possible) and hear a match day commentary so I am willing to pay.Would this help? How many other overseas persons, or indeed other fans wherever they may reside, would be willing to pay also.? Would you consider an online survey here ,Scotty ,to see how many are willing to pay for such a service? Might be a powerful tool to persuade the club to get involved.

Good luck to Darren. And congratulations.

Richard Hastings doing well.....
Scarlet Pimple replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in General Football
Well , you know, sometimes you just need to move on to pastures new. A change is as good as a rest ? If the Manager does not rate you or you don't like the Manager just go and try your luck. Life is short. And opportunities may not come around twice. Any of you still of a mind to emigrate to Canada. Lots of opportuniuty here--ask Scotty, he done good don't you know! :D C,maaaaaaan! You know you can do it; it's all about taking that first step and after that you never look back. -
The "arrangements" will also include the funeral ones for the other hosts, then?
-
Dead right Caley D. , it's all about "where there's a will there's a way". And up to now it seems to be more about "where there is a Willie, there's a way out."

What we need is respect to the effect of needing to ccept the exceptional which should be our expectation.

Agree with ICT Chris's summing up and I reserve judgement. But praise where praise is due for today's performance and hope it all continues for him and ICT. Doofer's Dad has replaced the Scarlet one as the resident psychic for his amazing predictions. Georgeios I see your point about Rooney's pace versus power . However, if he distributes the ball with his brain in swift gear, then does he need a lot of power? Only if he is up front alone without support. Then he has to try for goal. But, you iknow, if Terry has really switched his policy from trembling defensive formations and tactics to attack, then he has made a bold and decisive decision at the dead right time.--(a) before the rot really gets set-in and ( when the players need t0o gain in confidence and also for them to really start enjoying playing football in the colours of Caley Thistle. So ,for the time being at least, I hereby dub thee, Terry Butcher, "the gay cavalier".

Well, is it really true--or not? Clever man who has held some important posts in the past, in England.. Wrote a good letter but was not too good at replying to them..and, for me, I just don't like to be ignored without reason so that affected my judgement of him and my empathy towards him. The main reason that I contacted him in 2008 was over the question of broadcasts to overseas fans and eventually that matter simply petered out for a variety of reasons; lack of finance and lack of interest, whatever. So I suppose there was no particular reason for him to keep in contact with me thereafter . When I and my older friend visited the stadium in August 2008 he was certainly very civil, showed us around and introduced us to several officials including George Fraser and Craig Brewster and Mr Cameron so, in this way, he definitely played a part in making our visit thoroughly refreshing and enjoyable. He also appeared to be interested in our backgrounds and I formed the impression that he was genuinely interested in my friend and his past interesting career as the former Water (Civil Engineer) Engineer on Skye for many years and still living in Inverness. And, frankly, he evidently has a decent side to him. IF the rumour is true, it probably is just down to the question of economics. so all I can say is "good Luck" and I hope you get a new position somewhere that works out for you and your employer.
