  1. Well, perhaps it is just another reminder to us that nobody is irreplaceable. Must be nice though to be a club where they can pick-up and discard a good, experienced player at the drop of a hat. And, as it appears, nobody turns a hair.
  2. And the deletion was a backward Duf.
  3. I am sincerely grateful that Scotty did not initiate Flood control on the site. Such exciting news! I would not have missed it for the world By the way, Elmer *** has signed for Ferranti Thistle. Or is it Tarff Rovers? Dunno. I am just a Pimple.
  4. No snow at all here in Western Canada. Cool, sunyy, bright and breezy. Really nice actually. Other than that just a bit of rain lately. I am wondering if I have died and gone to heaven--or what? Scotty is about to experience another big dump of snow in Ontario though. But there they have snow blowers for the sidewalks that throw snow fifty feet up in the air to both sides. Neat tyo watch--on the T.V. Poor Easterners, frozen stiff half the time in Winter and sweating buckets with the humidity in Summer. O.K. Must get back to my dry sauna. 60 Degrees C. in the shade. :025: :P
  5. 5" of snow on your roof.?Wow! Last December, here in the Vancouver area, we had an accumulation of some 1.5 feet on car roofs over 3 days. Sounds like you don't have too many home garages in Inverness these days then? Driving with any snow on the car is dangerous. I use a soft brush on a long handle to drag the snow off the roof from the sides. The soft brush is to try to ensure that you do not scratch your paintwork on the car. Then we switch on the rear defroster to melt the snow on the rear window prior to moving from the parking stance and, at the same time, turn on the front windshield blower fan, set to defrost/hot. Frequently, especially if we cannot stand around all day waiting for the glass to clear, we use the edge of a credit card to scrape off the frost (after clearing the snow off first of course)--- which generally works a charm because it does not scratch your glass. And we go right round the car, starting with the front windscreen , and clear the windows as well. By the time you are finished scraping and clearing the snow the defrosters will, hopefully, have done their work and you can jump in and jump off as soon as you have done your Jimmy Saville thing---"clunk, click every trip." Smile. Only then can you say that you are safe to drive, both for your own safety and for the safety of other drivers. Have you any idea of what it is like to be driving behind a car with a load of snow on his/her roof, which suddenly dislodges and dumps right on top of your windscreen and you can't see a thing in front of you. Nor can you just ram on your brakes because conditions are likely to be very bad and you will lose control of your vehicle immediately. The only thing that you can try is to immediatelty turn on your wipers and pray that the snow is light enough to be swept off, at least enough to allow you some visibility. Blowing snow off the top of another vehicle onto your windscreen is also a very irritating event because it may be light in nature but it can soon obscure your windscreen and your forward visibility.Additionally it should be viewed as a prelude to a dump about to come off the said windscreen and so, when I encounter this type of driver, I back off from his car very quickly. There really is no way round all this extra work. It's safety first. And, Mrs ICTF, if I had Manfer sitting on the roof of the vehicle in front of me I would surely find him very irritating as well. Manfer the Snowman is a very cool cat And as he sits upon the car roofies I wonder where he is at, He calls you out and breaks you down and tries to get you in a spat If I were you I would take a pin , stalk him and maybe give him a "flat" Then you could clap your hands and walk away and that, dear lady, would be THAT! :P
  6. Snow looks wet there. Whistler here is gearing up for the Olympics. There are now some 250 runs at Whistler and the sister hill, the long-run mountain, Blackcomb. In my day there was a fraction of these runs. Pity they are in financial trouble but I heard yesterday from a pal that they are in the midst of a financial re-organisation. When you look at the figures involved , and if you can prevent your hair turning grey, maybe they could send their new financial plan to ICT as an example of how to take a financial chaotic mess and re-organise it to not only stay afloat, but to actually make money. The cost of a day out on the mountain here now is about $70 for accessing the lifts but does not include the costs of travelling --an 80 mile journey from downtown Vancouver and back, nor food etc. And, if you want to rent equipment then that is extra of course. But it is a fantastic experience. Whistler has opened a scenic cab ride on a line stretched between the two mopuntains and apparently it is a great view and a great ride. Whistler mountain has a variety everything and Blackcomb has always offered high speed cruising runs from top to bottom. Watch it on T V come February. If you are a skiier and have a bit of money to burn, you would enjoy a visit. And the revamped 4 lane road from Vancouver to the Resort is very fast and has magnificent views across Howe Sound to the mountains beyond. Cost a King's ransom to finish this year but, heh, what are Government's for if not to spend a fortune and put it all on the taxpayer's shoulders. We will be paying for this VERY expensive ten days for years to come. Have a great Winter.
  7. Gringo--you are funny!. 12rth Man --are you known as an egg-head at school or do you work for the British Government in a high , elevated position. I mean do you assist george Brtown to drink his tea by steadying his hand, like?Smile. Class man. Such a change to have someone of your timbre, with a command of facts and figures to hand that either educates intensely or causes penultimate confusion. Me--it's a breeze. Takes one to know one....eh? I guess Chas Bannertheman is obsolete now. Smiles will not open so I cannot express my admiration to the qunintupulate. But I am positively enervated.
  8. If Germany and England came onsiode to back Summer football it strikes me that Spain and Italy would, or could, be out in the cold. I think it would not be lomnng befire they also came onside--afetr all, what do they have to lose.
  9. The SFA recently made a decision to firmly dispell the idea that a winter break would be allowed. Something to do with scheduling--T.V. scheduling etc. Soccer is played in Canada in the Summer months and it really is a good feeling to be sitting on a nice Summer's evening in the stand in shirt sleeves watching a decent game . Last Summer we had a very important game extended by about 1.5 hours by a ferocious lightning storm at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby , B.C.. They abandoned the game about half time with the Whitecaps up by one, as I recall, and after waiting for about 45 minutes the game resumed. The sheets of lightning were so frequent and the rain so torrential that thye really had no choice since they had to evacuate the spectators from the seating on the far side of the pitch and told them to either get under the cover of the stand or get right out of the park--I assume that was so that the Management of the park would not entail any liabilities for people out in the open inside the park if they were struck by lightning. The lightning show alone was worth the price of admission alone. Not to mention the claps of thunder that seemed to just about lift the roof off. It was quite exciting to be honest.LOL. Not so much for the players because the pitch was awash in water. I seen o point i theplayers trying to perform in appalling conditions which for them can also be exceptionally dangerous, if not career-ending. But since money rules football these days who cares about the health or physical welfare of the actors upon the stage of football? Maybe secondly but not firstly. For me havinga two month break in Winter makes some sense but playing in the Summer months makes even more sense. I also think that attendances would soar.
  10. We can no doubt take that as a "no". :D
  11. So long as he does not change his name to "whine-ess" I can .... put up with anybody. :D
  12. Fantastic news. Now , 9,000 MILES it's a bit far for me to travel on a Saturday but if you need a donation of money just contact me. Come to think of it maybe some other worldwide posters who would benefit from this service would care to contribute also. Meanwhile, Thank you for trying to get this off the ground gentlemen. It's greatly appreciated. S. P.
  13. Caley D . OOOOOH! I am blushing. You are awful, but I like you. :crazy03: Where DID you get these clips from.?
  14. Naurius, Nauris..?.So long as he is not a nauseous player who careth? Methinks he is he is currently Quintus Superbus in the eyes of many, becoming a true general as it were. :crazy03:
  15. I mean apart from "Open All Mics" which is the link that we are listening to right now. What i am asking is there any commentary from Tuclloch today.?
  16. Pitch looks fine. thank you Caley D. Scoty Where does one find any commentary link in Sportsound these days./ ?
  17. Good morning all. Nice day coming up in Inverness I see. Hope the game is still on with the frost conditions etc, that I see on the forecast . Let's hope it's a great game n an hour. Another beautiful sunny and warm day coming up here (at 6-15 a.m. in Vancouver, B.C. Canada) Cheers. Scarlet
  18. Love-a Duck!
  19. Well, there you have it and Caley D has more or less put it in a nutshell. Just a few more points, however:- a. TB is not the team and therefore is not entirely responsible for all the negative results. b. He knew he had a tough nut to crack when he came here and I don't think he would just walk away form ICT if he thought for a moment that , to better himself, he would have to leave ICT in the lurch. c. In view of a. and b.(above) it must be acknowledged that, under the terms of the contract that he signed onto, both parties have reponsibilities to each other. i.e. if he thinks that he has done his best with the shambles that he inherited then he is quite entitled to EXPECT to be paid out in full for the remaining portion of his Agreement if ICT were to foolishly consider sacking him. d.The pay out of the remainder of his contract to get rid of him would leave ICT not a jot further forward, and would simply add more chaos to the mix. In addition to exacerbating the negative financial picture/resources, it would merely add total confusion to the playing team and probably lead to a demoralisation of the players that would lead to more defeats . Also It would then be very difficult to get any Manager worth his salt to take over without another barrowload of money having to be paid out to him personally AND to allow him to rebuild with quality , expensive, players--which the club probably do not have , so then what? Regardless of whether ICT win tomorrow or not, TB has to stay and will stay until the end of the season so, as I have said before, the only positive thing that the fans can do now is to support him ,and the team, to the hilt......and PRAY. But,then again, :dunno: I'm only a Pimple. :P Just enjoy the game folks , tomorrow, it could be a belter. C'mon ICT.
  20. How Manfer ever got into that family with a wit as dry as his is a mystery? Probably he was just a prop. And so easy to wind up. I did make a mistake though --he never writes to me , now I remember, with a pen and ink. It's a QUILL pen and ink. Hoch! Hoch! Now that's a feather in his cap (no pun intended---O.K. I admit it was), taking into account his age, etc,and the fact that his writing now is a conflict of interest since his arthritic finger joints continually fight with his brain. I mean, compared to the likes of the Ness Twins, Von , Footballer's Wife, Caley4 Eva and all the rest of bright stars --what an incredible group of sharp comedians they were.. Even Johnboy showed what a wit he could be if he tried. Waste of space?--eh? Spice of Life, more like. I wish there was more of it and them on her. Oh Manny--you do make a good senior in that family. So praise where praise is due, the Pimple always says.. And for some unknown reason you seem to produce some very fluent and excellent prose when writing your match reports so, Do tell us....who is your ghost writer these days. :wave01: :steward: :)
  21. Away form is sterling. Home form is stunning. And I always thought that home advantage counted for a heck of a lot.! Unless the next two games are strong wins, then I go back to my original prediction that if ICT were not in a challenging position by Christmas then there will be no promotion this season. After that where we will end up is anyone's guess? Butcher did come in at a big turning point where solid, experienced players were leaving, money was tight and about to get tighter, the youngsters had not yet been blooded to any extent in the first team and so on. He would need more than one season to sort all this out so laying blame at his feet would seem to be unfair. The whole structure, the strength of the skeleton and the lack of flesh on the bones needs quite a lot of time to re-build and the spirit has waned or has vanished--take your pick. With spirit depressed I think it could take up to three years in Division 1, AGAIN, to rekindle the name that ICT once had ----so there you go. That's a long term view from a long way away. :)
  22. So you won't be skinny dipping in the Baltic Ocean at the beach in Riga then, Latviaman? LOL The snow in Vancouver, B.C. is actually very light this year. But other parts of Canada, in the East , have received four feet of snow in a day's dump. I think it was in Ontario, North of where Scotty lives, that the temperature was about minus 56 degrees. I am taking to hibernating in my portable sauna more and more. Interested ? Then try www.farnorthsaunas.ca who will be happy to send you one. A balmy 60 degrees is the top temp that I aim for . A bit too hot for me, maybe, but then you sweat out a lot of toxins--how do I know theyare toxins---the smell ! Smile. Happy holidays Latviaman. P.S. What exactly is your job? I have always wondered. Do you pilot the planes, navigate them (like turning on the auto pilot), be the radio operator, gasoline refueller? Or do you turn over the propellors to get the engine to fireup before take-off? Whatever you do it sounds a lot more exciting than being retired!! Happy holidays to you and your family. :)
  23. Good luck all and, in case I fall foul of the weather or summat ,have a happy Xmas. Hope the game goes ahead though. Er.... I suppose the cost of turning on the electric blanket under the pitch will be too much to allow it to be turned it on , on Thursday. How much do you reckon it will cost to run for on extra day?
  24. Looks as if there is support for getting rid of comments and reports about English matches on this thread the. Good! We can stick to ICT now , hopefully. A pleased Pimple. :D
