Team News - Injuries and Suspensions etc
FFS, perhaps because it is difficult to predict how quickly and injury will heal and how it responds to treatment. Do you seriously believe, along with Dalneigh Caley that we will be given a blow by blow update on every injury situation?. Have you considered that the information on Meekings might have been given to keep Partick guessing on our team and formation.

Matchday - Alloa v Inverness CT LC
As is yours to a large extent as well Harry. You may have a point on the contract situation but you cannot force players to sign contract extensions and do you have any proof that any of the players you mention would have signed these?. It is a simple fact of life that if we develop/sign good players, they will leave us at some point and you under estimate the power of agents and players in all this. If we make a loss each season, which we usually do, how can any money be re-invested in the club?. I am not a huge fan of the board, as I think they need to be much more proactive and dynamic but their first duty is to balance the books of the club. The only way for the club to progress is to rear more of it's own players (which then have to be sold to generate a profit), have more fans attend games or seriously raise prices for attendance. As the last two options don't seem to work or have support from the fans, what exactly would you suggest we do?. As for this being out worst result ever, don't think it is. Obviously a bad result but these things happen in cup matches and too many of our fans think we have a divine right to win every game. Sure we were favourites but that is the beauty of cup football. Ritchie needs to learn from his mistakes quickly but a win against County would go a long way to rectifying our poor start to the season.

Team for Alloa
I think the team selection will depend a lot on how certain players have reacted to playing on artificial surfaces. Don't think Alloa's is the best so team selection may be more difficult to predict as a result. Would not expect Doran to start but come on as a sub.

Matchday Thread v Partick
FFS, one game into the season and this is posted. Unbelievable.

Stadium Announcer
I sit in the main stand behind the away dugout and this season, so far, this has been the worst ever for trying to decipher any announcements. Really annoying but, more seriously, what if the tannoy system needed to announce a real emergency, would the crowd be able to hear it?.

Battered Fish Cup
Pretty shocking that is the game that is being covered with little chance of an upset.

NO CASH TURNSTILES THIS SEASON
Like your earlier post about this being a cost saving exercise, you seem to be totally missing the point on this. Who saying fans will not be allowed in? Ironically this might be an issue if more supporters started to attend on a walk up basis but unlikely this will happen. This is really a non issue with folk jumping onto something which could have been an issue but was not. Once league fixtures kick in, the issue will be even less as season ticket holders use their season ticket books.

NO CASH TURNSTILES THIS SEASON
This is done in the States for some baseball teams but you would then need the turnstiles adapted to accept these I think.

NO CASH TURNSTILES THIS SEASON
Why would this deter the casual fan. You would still have to turn up and pay before. Only thing I have concerns about is the short notice. I have only picked up on this just now and had I known sooner, would have got tickets in advance.

Fixture List
What is apparent from this fiasco is how little the SPFL care about fans with their scheduling of games over Christmas. Surely some account could have been taken of the distances travelling fans have to endure by scheduling games within a reasonable travelling distance. Why do we also need to still operate the 2 home games in succession then 2 away games in succession over a season?. Specifically on the Partick/Motherwell/Hamilton situation, I am not aware of any similar complaints being made when clubs had only 1 fixture against Celtic in recent years and then did not make the top six. I haven't checked the situation but have these 3 teams 2 home fixtures against Hearts as they take a sizeable away support with them which may compensate, in part, for the loss of an old firm game?.

Fixture List
But at least some of their fans could have had the grace to accept that their club was in the wrong instead of mooning about how hard done by they were.

Have we left it too late AGAIN?
Whatever happened to the two pre contract signings advised by the board?

Where are the goals coming from?
Welcome to the forum but think you are missing the Thistle part from the club's name!.

Yogi
And sadly, with some of the central belt media's help, some people will believe this about his reputation.

Foran
Indeed it is but to remove any blame from the board in this is not credible. I don't know the rights and wrongs of all that has happened but the board have handled this situation badly is an understatement.
-
Yogi
Totally agree that this situation gas been badly handled by all concerned and this reflects badly on both parties. It also reflects badly on the club's image within the game. What Caleyboy describes is what would happen within most businesses and I have personal experience of dealing with a case similar to this in this manner. While the board have done well, in financial terms, to keep the club on an even keel, there seems to be little or no forward planning or even a vision for where the board want the club to go. I don't know Kenny Cameron but I don't think he is vocal enough in support of the club and a stronger chairman/board is needed to drive the club on. I have no thoughts on who that could be or how that can be achieved but still think we at times still display a Highland league mentality at Board level. This is purely my opinion but I think a weak board has not helped with this situation.
-
Yogi
Totally agree with this. Neither Yogi or the Board come out of this well. I have said previously that I have reservations about the ability of the current board to take us further and I think this situation underlines this. To get to a situation where Chairman and manage no longer speaking, if P & J is to be believed, is ridiculous. If the board were seriously dismissing Hughes, then a plan should have been in place to ensure a replacement is lines up as soon as possible. What does this situation say to managers who may be interested as well in our club. This needs to get sorted quickly with a lot more communication from our normally reticent board.

Inverness CT -V- Dundee
A great result which certainly couldn't have been predicted after 45 minutes...or even after 59! The first half was reminiscent of much of our season - lots of possession and barely any clearcut chances. Dundee played on the break and had five decent opportunities, all of which they spurned. Storey's goal came from a wonderful Polworth pass in behind, the first piece of quality we'd come up with in the final third. It was a great finish, showing composure even as the keeper forced him wide. It sounds from the postmatch interview like we're working hard to convince him to stay, which would be terrific. The decision immediately afterward to replace Storey with Foran was bizarre...but I suppose the outcome justified it! Foran's lovely front post flick laid on Devine to bundle home a second, and then immediately afterward Drapes mugged Nick Ross 20 yards from goal and killed the game off with a fine finish. The pen came after some great skill by Polly, who was our best player today. I think Draper suggested to Raven that he should take it, but Raven seemed to shake his head. I don't think Foran was giving the ball up in a hurry anyway! For those who weren't there, it's worth pointing out that Dundee looked so much more likely to score at 0-0. But it's a great result and a great way to finish the season. It may have a very positive effect on season ticket renewals too... Mostly agree with this but Dundee created very little and were only given the half chances to score by poor defending by us. At half time, this looked a 0-0 banker but we did seem to step up a gear in the second half. Dundee have had a lot of plaudits this season but were very poor today and when they were last hear as well. Maybe we are due some plaudits after all by the central belt dominated media.

Dundee United fielded ineligible player
Logically the game should have been replayed but the deduction of 3 points seems fair enough, to me anyway, as this did not affect the final result in anyway if we are being realistic. The fine of £30000 is, again in my opinion, way over the top and, as someone has suggested appears to be sticking the knife into the chairman more than anything else. I think he was quite right to resign for what appears to have been a genuine mistake.

Matchday Thread - Arabs on BT Sport
My take on the game was that we pretty much dominated it but yet again, poor defending cost us the game. For the first, Murray was not closed down, second and third goals were just poor defending. The " experiment" of playing Meekings at right back is not working. He gets caught out when attacking and is slow to get back (and invariably goes towards central defence when he does). Needs to go back to centre back asap. Devine has bombscare moments in most games and it can only be down to a lack of concentration. His distribution is poor as well and I think this is impacting on Warren's performance as his have not been great either. Too many players off the pace until 0-3 down but could easily have got a draw which we would have deserved. Fans posting on here saying not renewing season tickets, not going to attend next season due to this season puzzles me. With football, you cannot predict how seasons/games will go, not even Celtic/Man Utd can do that. Let's look forward to the new season and get behind the team and ditch some of this, largely undeserved negativity from some posters who think we have the divine right to win every game, just look at the Dundee result yesterday to see how difficult it can be to win games in this league.

IF we needed a new manager.....
Again hypothetical but how much of the cash would need to be used to secure a new manager?.
