  1. I think there is a healthy level of opinion from all sides on this site with some people prepared to defend/explain their positions. That has to be good but some posters, on both sides of this particular debate, just don't want to see each others point of view. I do also think some posters need a shot of realism on ICT's place in Scottish football, we will probably never win the title, but we should always aspire to do so, we should always try to play attractive football but sometimes that does not win you games. A few posters have indiacted that they would rather see attractive football even if it meant we dropped down a division, I cannot undertsand that point of view at all. In theory you raise the standard of play by playing better teams. I fully accept that everything in the garden is not rosy at the moment and to me, the club does seem to be lacking a bit of direction from the board but these are difficult times in Scottish Football just now.
  2. A lot of good posts on this and a lot of negative, and frankly predictable posts on this subject. On the assumption that we all want the club to grow and improve, although I am not so sure, all the posters actually want this, what good at the moment would replacing the management team at this time do. The constant changing of managers does no club any good and as someone pointed out, not only would we have to pay off the current management team, but then pay the new manager to get his own staff in which we simply cannot afford. Sure the management team have made mistakes in both signings and tactics, and worryingly for me at the moment, cannot seem to get the tactics sorted, butlet's be realistic about our financial situation and are we really any worse that the teams immediately around about us, Hibs, St. Mirren, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen, I don't think so. This may be seen by some who then class me as a "happy clapper" but I would rather be classed as one of those than be one of the depressed negative posters who preach doom and gloom on here season after season.
  3. proc up against mackay-steven. he would have to watch the video of "that" trick he performed against sjohnstone. seen it a hundred times and still dont know what he did. we could all chip in and buy proctor 50 match tickets. he would need tham all to get back into tannadice Why single out Proctor for that, would any of our other defenders do any better/worse than Proctor if up gainst that. Another example of knocking a player for no good reason which is prevalent on this site. No issues with making comments on Proctor after the game if he has a bad game but come on, before it.
  4. Totally agree Caley D. Consistency of selection and playing staff served us well over the years but was always going to change at some point and the nature of player contracts means it's a whole new ball game now. Buthcher was fortunately/unfortunately the manager who had to carry out the surgery required on the team and, while not totally successful, there are reasons behind this. Where the management team do let themselves down, as alluded to by IHE earlier is their tactics. These are bewildering at times and they have to learn quickly on this as it is this that is costing us points in some games, not always the players on the park. Finally to all thes eposters who have said we have been playing as poorly as we have ever have, I disagree. When we have had our best team on the aprk, some of the football, although not always the results has been good if not better than last season. The problem has been continuity of selection and the injury to Andrew Shinnie. If the correct signings can be made for next season, we have a good base to build on (ever the optimist but i suppose that is what being a fan is all about)
  5. Seems strange you would repost it then, so totally totally irrelevant that you felt the need to make us all read it again? Sometimes I read these forums and shake my head in disbelief at the bullying culture amongst some members. If someone, such as Dougal, puts forth their views in contradiction to a certain group of posters then the knives are drawn and the attack is on, like a shoal of hungry piranha. If Dougal is a troll then he will be loving you lot, if he is a normal poster with some out there views then a lot of you need to take a good look at yourselves. TBH, pressed wrong buttons when writing post but seriously what has Butcher and McCoist shaking habds etc got to do with the game yesterday. Everyone, including Dougal and myself are entitled to their opinion and if I need to cooment on a post, I will do so. If anyone wants to comment on my postings, feel free as i won't get upset about it.
  6. Were some people actually watching the game yesterday and Proctor's performance. He steadied the defence in the 2nd half and didn't do a lot wrong. For right back it is either him or Piermyer, rest of the defence as it was yesterday. Tudor Jones has to play, Ross to drop out as too lightweight for thisd type of game and someone up front to play with Mackay who actually knows how to play as a striker, Foran or Wannell?.
  7. Dougal, totally totally irrelevant post, adds nothing to the debate and is just ........ words just fail me. Utter pish would be the words to sum up that performance today I don't recall seeing a poorer defensive performance ever from an ICT back four Possibly the worst ever Orc team to set foot in TCS and to be played off the park like the way we did was a total embarrassment Can't believe no one has mentioned this but did anyone at the game or watching it on Sky see the sickening scenes I saw as our management team waited for McCoist/Durrant/McDowell and co emerge from the tunnel before the game? A simple hand shake should have been sufficient but what we got was basically a cringeworthy hugfest which I found quite insulting to the ICT fans who had the misfortune to witness it Rangers were fragile today and all this pandering niceties should have happened within the stand if they even had to happen at all and not in full view of the paying punter The fact that Tokely never made it off the bench certainly backs up this alleged rift anyone got more info?
  8. As usual some over the top reactions after todays game> Sure we didn't play well and too many players had a bad day. Rangers won this game without over exerting themselves and down to our poor defending. However many of those slagging off Meekings have been saying that he has been good on other games and let's not forget he is only 19 and still learning.Again, I am getting a bit fed up with many posters continually slagging off team and performances but oblivious to the fact that we have rarely been able to field the same team two weeks running due to injuries. You will only get consistent performances when you can get a consistent team playing week in week out. Having said that, the substitutions today, apart from Proctor, who played well when he came on, were baffling. I am getting less impressed by Gnapka, who is to attacking what Djebi Zadi was to defending. We needed someone to play alongside Mackay but Gnapka isn't the one. Tudor Jones, if fully fit should have been on sooner as well. All in all, a bad day at the office but some of the postings on here really mae me question if some posters actaully want to be supporters of ICT or simply want to look for the latest excuse to slag off the management and team.
  9. I think part of the problem with lack of response is that many fans now don't know what it is like to stand at matches and therefore cannot appreciate the huge difference it makes to the atmosphere. I speak as someone who has been in crows over a 100000 at Hampden and believe it or 45000 at Pittodrie. The problem with only converting a small area, such as the uncovered main stand is that I don't think it would work. You either need to convert the whole North Stand or Main Stand to make this work. The only other possible alternative would be to develop the whole of the West Stand/Terracing to be fitted with these type of seats and I don't think that can be done financially in the current climate. However, if the club were willing to trial this, and the manufacturer of the seats could be persuaded to strile a deal whereby they provide the seats to a trial ground on the basis they will get more work on the back of that, then that may be an avenue worth pursuing.
  10. I knew Gordy from school where he was one of my best mates. Always good crack and a real ICT die hard. RIP Gordy.
  11. The one thing about this debate is that it shows that there are ideas the club can try and maximise revenue and improve the match day experience. Some of it may be a risk/gamble but some are simple and would cost nothing. Take the music being played before matches, it does nothing to get the crowd going where, by selecting the correct songs, you could create an atmosphere for no additional cost. Settling on a standard song for the team to come out to would also help. Hopefully someone will take these ideas forward from the club.
  12. To be honest, with both Proctor and Tokely virtually the only candidates for central defence, I think we do need to move Gillet to central defence and bring in Graham Shinnie.
  13. A lot of what Caley D does make sense in terms of the alternative pricing structure for the Celtic game although too late to do something about it now. I do think the club needs to look at pricing for league matches and it surely cannot be beyond their capability to do this. Heck, they have got enough ideas from this topic to virtually do the job for them. One final point, a lot of comment about Ross County prices, I don't think, if they get promoted, that their prices will be a million miles away from us next season although a lot will depend on the exchange rates for scrap metal at the gates I suppose!.
  14. I'm with Sorted on this one and think the tickets are reasonably priced given the game we face. Only change I would have possibly made is to reduce the concession to perhaps £10 and perhaps thay may have helped the gate. I am of a generation where attending football matches was what you did on a Saturday (went to my first game at 9 and still attending at 53) but accept that has largely gone from the present generation as too many other distractions. However, some of the people who complain about the prices, especially young people will think nothing of spending fortunes on mobile phones, games etc and some older ones will waste several times the amount in a pub/club on a Saturday. I don't go to pubs often but that's my choice and I prefer to watch ICT so I just dont buy the argument for this particular game that the admission prices are set too high, for league games I totally agree that something needs to be done but there is a catch 22 situation for both the Celtic game and league games. If more fans attended on a regular basis, then perhaps the club could reduce prices but then people first have to come along at a higher price unless special deals can be devised. I am sure it is not impossible to come up with soething that can boost crowds and reduce prices, all that is needed is the will to do this (and a reduction in apathy from the football public in Inverness who would soon moan if ICT wasn't there but do very little to help the team succeed and prosper)
  15. If indeed, there are no child prices for this game, then that is pretty poor and I agree with the views expressed by CD. Longer term, I think allclubs but especially ICT need to look at their pricing structure to attract more fans and reduce prices for certain "less attractive" games. However, the problem with that is how that impacts on season ticket holders of which I am one, as if you are not careful, you could end up attending all matches and pay less than a season ticket holder. To be honest, that does not matter to me but it would to some people and I know how important the season ticket money is to the club. Attendances this season are dipping hugely at all clubs so fresh ideas are needed to address this and the top one for me is price, quite how it can be done is another thing but worth a debate on a new topic?
  16. This rumour has being going around for several weeks now. The source from where i first heard this was from someone within the club telling someone who works with me. That source was not TB by the way or JH.
  17. Priorities have to be Get safe from relegation Top 6 spot, sixth is probably the best we can hope for but very much possible get as far as we can in the Scottish Cup which could in turn get us into Europe. As someone said, exiting times ahead and an awful lot still to play for this season
  18. Lennon would be a fool if he thinks last nights performance will be reflective of how we will play against Celtic. Granted, that was the poorest performance, in parts, for a long time but it has to be remembered that there was a great deal of pressure on the players and management to achieve a result last night because of the major financial rewards attached to a victory. That, I think, had an impact on our performance.
  19. I too have this sinking feeling that Proctor will start if Rosscoe isn't fit.
  20. Alex - I thought the price of £15 was pretty reasonable for the cup game. Remember last season for the Elgin game, it was only £10 and Elgin had more fans there than us. I don't know what the reason is for poor cup crowds but the attendance for the Dunfermline game was a disgrace for Inverness as an SPL "city". I am a season ticket holder but have no issue with paying for cup games and if some season ticket holders do, I really fail to see why. While prices for league games needs to be looked at at, some supporters f ICT also need to taake a long hard look at themselves as well when it comes to cup games. Should we end up playing Celtic in the next round, I am sure the "supporters" will as usual be clamouring for their tickets.

    Standing

That is my understanding too, County would still have to meet the minimum seeting requirement before considering terracing.
  22. For me, when United scored their second goal on Saturday, we should have taken Foran off and brought Tade on up front with Mackay - bringing Nick Ross on was a complete waste of time - he hardly touched the ball. Spot on Donald, that substitution was baffling.
  23. I actually thought Foran was ok on Saturday and by no means the worst player for us. He kept on trying and didn't win anything like he normally does in the air as he was continually being fouled. Some of the ref's decisions on that were just so wrong. Incidentally, Mackay was taken out in a very similar situation to what Hogg was sent off for and in my opinion, this was a stronger case for a sending off. One day, a decision will turn for us. Where we lost the gamne was in midfield, and I have to say the midfield is a culpable as the defence this season for contributing to losing goals. As soon as Davis went to right back, the game changed. I know a lot of people have said that Cox should have been played there, as he can play right back but how many games at right back has he played for us. I can only remember him covering right back in games where we have lost the right back so would he have been any better or worse thatn Davis at right back. Impossible to say but ceratinly not as conclusive as a lot of posters have indicted. Renegad's suggestion of moving Gilet to centre back does make more sense but again, how many of us have seen him play at centre back and could this have changed the game, again impossible to say. The substitution of Shinne for Ross was where TB lost it for me. Ross is not a matchwinner and far too lightweight for yesterdays game. He contributed nothing, and in fairness to him, Idon't see how he was going to anyway with where he was played. For some reason also, confidence disappeared, although it was never really there to start with yesterday, once Dundee Utd scored. That is a big worry for me.
  24. : Come on Huisdean this is caleythistleonline , half these posters dont have a clue !
